One of my co-workers came in today and asked what the bad smell was. I was pretty sure if she could smell it, it was the open bottle of Gorilla juice sitting on my desk, but she likened it to the smell of tools. I don't know, weird, possibly a burnt atty smell was lingering because I was dripping it, but it definitely makes me think I should maybe start using flavorless at work.

I have never had anyone complain about my vaping smell. For the most part people say, "man that smells good what is that" I was vaping butterscotch from ECBlendflavors.com (which BTW is awesome!) one time at work, a guy looked up and said "I smell pancakes, who's eating pancakes?" It was breakfast time, and it did have a maple smell, almost like syrup. Needless to say he was intrigued to find out is was my PV. I have converted a few smokers just from the smell of my PV. Even my mom, step-mom and both grandparents, who are anti-smokers think my vaping is a good thing and none of them mind the smell. They are all just glad I don't smoke anymore.

I've been in a room where others claimed they could smell it. I usually challenge them a la Sailorman and politely ask if it bothers them. If they say yes, I tell them I will gladly stop vaping if they can identify the flavor. Sometimes, if I have a few bottles of juice with me, I'll give them a multiple choice. 9 times out of 10, they can not identify it.

I liken it to perfume or cologne, but not nearly as strong. If someone gives me a hard time, depending on my mood, I may jokingly ask them what they would do if I didn't like their cologne. Would they wash it off?

I would go with a definitive "Heck yes there's a smell."

This is one of things I was foolishly surprised at in the beginning (read as: naive).

Car, yes.
Office, small room, door often closed when not in use, yes, yes, yes...even with nothing carpeted, made of fabric or otherwise.
Big room, like an extended livingroom with hardwood floors with greater ventilation in three directions -- lesser so. Still exists.

But the best people to ask are those that aren't used to it.

I quit smoking and went through the standard roller-coaster of (again) smelling all things good and bad, indoors and outdoors.

The first few week or two I noticed not so much. I was adjusting both to stopping smoking and the starting of vaping. I noticed more of what was natural and less of what I'd switched to. Shortly after that, we would get into one of our cars or walk into office and it was as if someone was running a combination of caramel and nut factory every moment we were away. It was....strong. A bit of waking of the senses and a bit of completely new smells.

I stress that the best people to ask are those that aren't used to it is that we've found we've adjusted...

In the same way that in the past we would chain smoke and could "clearly see each other across the room" or "smell nothing", nowadays we don't notice much or anything....even though we know when we started vaping, we thought our central air conditioning had a filter replaced with a caramel or butterscotch flavored one.

Find the placebo example. They might find a location smelling off, musky, or like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Airflow is definitely your friend though. Nowadays we walk into the house or an office, or more importantly, any enclosed space and we notice more than less....

Some of the tobacco liquids can have an unpleasant smell to some. I vape a coffee blend that leaves a slight coffee odor.

Received my PV Kit yesterday and tried a Tobacco flavored Carto, the scent in the room was very faint and should dissipate quickly depending on the amount Vaped. BTW, today was my first Tobacco Free day in over 34 years, at work no less, and my PV was totally satisfying.

I've had a few people at work tell me that SPI from Bloog smells like cotton candy. It tastes to me like a mild sweet pipe tobacco. One of them said another flavor I used (wish I could remember which one) had a tobacco smell but it wasnt offensive like cigarette smoke. They only smell them when I'm vaping near them though. Havent heard any of them say anything about lingering smells.

I notice the faint taste/smell on exhale but the only flavor my fiance can pick out when i'm vaping is black licorice - it's like he has black licorice radar! Other than that one, he doesn't notice it even sitting right next to me. He quit cold turkey the same day i started vaping full-time and so it took him a few days to realize it was black licorice - now i have to do it in another room -and it's my main vape, lol!

Congrats! It's amazing how much nicer everything will seem when you get your sense of smell and taste back a bit - that's usually when a lot of people start trying the fun flavors! My day 1 was only 7 weeks and 3 days ago - and i haven't looked back!

My cube mate says she doesn't smell it (unless I blow it in her face and make her guess what it is), my friend doesn't smell it when I vape in her car when we do "Meals on Wheels", and my DH doesn't smell it either (unless I blow it in his face and make him guess). And, most importantly, my boss doesn't smell it because he would definately say something! LOL!
