Hey all,

So I've been thinking about upgrading to a box mod. I'm in love with the form factor and the long battery life. Variable voltage/wattage would be nice, but is not required for the use I would put it through. So any recommendations on what I should look at?

THE CATCH: I am a senior in college, which means I don't have the budget to get an expensive mod. Clones are fine!!! They're actually kind of what I'm looking for!!! Anybody with a dependable box mod clone for not too much $$$ want to share their thoughts? I've also been looking at the MVP V2...

Thanks in advance

The MVP 2 is the only box mod I've had the pleasure of using. I own three of them now and my oldest one is 8 1/2 months old. I'm sure there are others that are good quality and dependable but I've never had the need to look any further. The MVP is all I need and then some. ( I never use it to charge other devices )

Ok, wazzat mean? If you are only interested in "lightweight" vaping with clearos or maybe a dripping atty with builds about 1.3 ohm or higher then a low price VV/VW box like the MPV 2 would work for you.

If you are looking for a box you can run sub ohm drippers on that's pretty much a forget for VV/VW boxes - you are gonna have to pay $$$ to get something that can handle sub ohm builds. "Cheap" for a reliable box, non VV/VW, that can do sub ohm would be heading for the likes of a Reo aluminum body mod around $140.00

Now that I'm on to mechs I don't touch the mvp 2 anymore, I passed it on to my girlfriend. That little thing got me through the toughest parts of switching from smokes to vape. It's definitely the biggest bang for your buck. But, keep in mind it doesn't go up into the high wattage so it does have its limitations. The last I checked, 101vape had them for 39.99. Pretty good price for the set, plus 101 has great customer service and are pretty speedy with the shipping.

Sent from the mothership.

I was interested in the MVP2 myself, but decided to go with the newer VTR just for the reason that it takes 18650 batts. I didn't want to have to chuck a nice MVP2 when the internal battery stopped holding a charge. I figure in the long run, it'll be cheaper this way anyway.

Only had the VTR for a few days now, but I love it! A tad on the heavy side, but that doesn't bother me much, and makes it feel more solid.

A LOT of people love the MVP2. A LOT.
I never had one, didn't want box mods when I upgraded from egos. after a while they rubbed off on me (the SmokTech SiD with a kayfun is pretty much a light saber).
I love my Hana Clone (you can find them for around $80 + 15 for a good battery like vtc5). The great thing about this device is it still has onboard charging and the controls and "messages" are more user friendly IMO. more than Double the price of the MVP2 though, so maybe out of the budget. "Cheap" means different things to different people, so I thought I'd bring it up.
If thats in your price range the iPV also seems like a good mod - slimmer and taller than the Hana variety.
There are always mechs, but with those you loose the safety features, and you have to buy more batteries and a charger, so that can add up to $100 quickly, and thats probably getting off pretty cheap.

If you are happy with clearo's and standard coils for a while the MVP2 would probably be a great buy!

My wife LOVES her MPV v2. I have been building her coils at 1.0-1.3 and it handles them well (Protank clones, 28 gage, 6-8 wraps). It has all the bells and whistles that she likes (ohm meter, puff counter, adjustable watts and volts), looks good, not overly big, can get all the different wraps for it...you get it, lots of options. NOT a cloud chasing mod, but if you want to vape, it's the way to go. (around $90 all said and done)

If you want to play...go to the fast tech, get a $21 Nemesis mech, get a couple (or 4) GOOD batteries (not from fastech), decent charger, pro-tank clone, kayfun clone, a dripper clone, cotton and some 28 gauge wire. And LEARN!!!! how they work. (around $140 plus your time)

It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to vape and know (i.e Play...my choice) then go option 2. If you want to vape and not be bothered by all the extra learning curve, hit the vape shop every couple of weeks to get atomizers, try the new flavors they have (i.e. spend more money) then option 1 is perfect.

OR...you can find a significant other that can supply the best of both worlds...:vapor:

Only advise I can offer on this would be to find what you want and make sure it's what you want before buying.

I went through the whole process of buying things like the blu e-cigs, and the ego twist batteries with disposable clearomizers and finally ended up with my MVP2, and an assortment of glassomizers/clearomizers/whatever-you-wish-to-call-them. Now my favorite combination is the MVP2 with the Aerotank Mega and or the MVP2 with the Nautilus glass tank with the metal covering.

Had I jumped right into the MVP2 and one of the above mentioned tanks, I'd have saved myself a couple hundred dollars that we've spent on ego twists, and an assortment of other tanks that I felt ultimately disappointed me. But no harm, the better half uses all of the stuff that I don't, so not a total loss.

I have an MVP 2 and its a great device for the price. I also have the new DOPVO e-mech and actually find it a better vape. Slightly more consistent than my MVP and the extra wattage is nice. Its about double the cost of the MVP when you add batts to the price but only having to replace batts is a plus to me (went through 3 mvps due to batt going bad) Also being a series mod that down regulates the higher voltage from 2 batts in series it provides more consistent power output when compared to mods using a boost circuit. Durability remains to be seen since its a new product but I've already dropped mine from a 30' ladder onto a concrete floor at work and it didn't even get scratched.
