INFO FOR NEWBIES, FROM A NEWBIE!

Hi fellow newbie’s, Richo here from the sunny land down under, (Australia) and I decided to give this “vaping” a go. But instead of jumping in and wasting money I decided to do some research (DUMM DUMM DUMMMM!!!!) thinking “it can’t be too complex right?, ( in the background there’s all the veterans rolling around laughing), but after a month I’ve dropped from 2 packs a day ( yep, I’m a chain smoker) to maybe 5-10 a day ( plus vaping) and that’s slowly dropping down on the analogs (see, I’m even using vape talk!!), so here’s some general helpful tips, vet’s , please jump in if I miss anything or you have tips as well.

FIRST, TRY THE BASIC’S!

First I bought a $15.00 el cheapo one use disposal e-cigarette ( believe it or not ), on the packet was the following “you smoke it like a battery!” , I think the translator was having a bad day at the plant unless they smoke battery's in China , looked like a cigarette, smoked like a cigarette (sort of) and died after 2 hours, BUT it gave me the basic start info, which was “would it work for me? “, and it did, for 2 hours I was happily vaping away so I moved onto.

UTUBE IS YOUR FRIEND! ADVISOR! QUALITY CONTROL!

This is where I watched/learned more about vaping than cursing a hundred sites, 2 guy’s who’s reviews I listened too where:
Pbusardo : , down to earth, intelligent and funny, but straight as an arrow on the positives and negatives on gear/equipment he reviews.

GrimmGreen:, First time I saw GrimmGreen was a review for an Ego Twist, I thought to myself “Bloody Hipster” but after watching a few more of his segments his knowledge base and genuine passion came through, and that was that, I am now a loyal Greenie.

Use Utube, visit these two, run through some of their stuff, it WILL help, type in E-Cig name's brands, types, models etc, besides the above two, theres wild and wacky peopleon the net who have used, will use or give you opinions on stuff they would NEVER use all over the world, let the world advise you.

FIRST KIT!

My first gear/kit is my current kit, it came from China from a site called “Vaporbreak”, it consisted of 2 x Ego Manual 1100 (whachamacallits )batteries, a USB recharger, 5 x CE5 Atomizer 100 ml of strong menthol in 10, 10 ml bottles, shipping took 10 days, that was a month or so ago, I’m slowly but surely increasing my knowledge base, terms like VV, Viv Nova, DCT,510 it’s are slowly making sense, some of the names that keep coming up are also sticking, “MAP” (some kind of pirate dude who makes tanks things), “Kir Fanis” ( another dude who makes tanks, possibly not a pirate but I’ll over look that), jonboyusmc (yep, another tank maker, and most likely partially pirate, well he’s ex USMC that’s pretty close too Pirate). If you get the chance go to Google Images, type in their names and look at what the make, quality stuff.

DON’T GIVE UP!

If a shaven headed rock ape like myself can start to make the change over YOU can, at the moment I roll with Ego Manual 1100 thingy’s and the CE5’s I will probably stay with what I’m using ( why are the Vet’s giggling?).

ASK QUESTIONS!

I'm more of a loner, but you can ask and people will give you information, this sites a good example of that, just ask, someone will tell you what you want to know.

Peace out

I hear you there, I honestly thought he was some kind of "Hipster/Yuppie/actor trying to sell crap, BUT after a bit of a check the guy turned out to be a true "Vaporista" ( I just made that word up, I think I like it, must use it a gain some day) so as annoying as the intro song for his segment ( after 5 times, I just bump over it, kinda like "Some Nights" by Fun , they are flogging it to death here in Oz on the radio) I will listen to the man, genuine passion gets my respect and holds me from poking him with the stick,,,,but the sticks always there.

Hi, and welcome to ECF. I liked your post and your methodology and approach to vaping is spot on IMHO. More of the newer members asking questions should give it a read. Just dipping your toe into the "vaping pond" at first instead of going the "hair on fire give me a Provari immediately and answer all my questions later" route is very smart and will save you a lot of grief and angst later.

Very wise words.

All good points.
I do wonder, though, how objective some of these YouTube reviews really are. Some of the will say right out that they've been given the product for review, some not. I suppose some get to keep the product in perpetuity.
So who of the reviewers is truly independent, without bias, and credible?

Don't reviewers in the US have to disclose if they were given anything in return for reviewing something? I remember hearing something along those lines but don't remember anything specific.

As far as finding a good reviewer, it doesn't really bug me if they get the item they are reviewing for free because the good ones still give a legit review no matter if they got the item for free or not.

It's not required, really, but it does help your credibility a bit if you're willing to disclose that sort of thing.
