Hey folks, have a few questions in regards to carts/attys/etc... for my incoming Grand (and in general).

I'm still pretty green to all this and have only used cartomizers basically because doing research they seemed the least amount of fuss for a beginner. Well I won the Grand lotto the other night and have one on the way so I figure I'd try to wrap my head around the pros/cons of attys vs carts vs LR vs voltage.

I picked up some 18650s for my Grand, so in saying that I've heard LR @ 3.7 is the way to go. Seems like LR isn't just LR though, as I've seen several different ohm ratings in carts and attys. Not sure what's going on there to be honest, the more I read about it the more I seem to stumble upon. I'm confused as Hell long and short.

I guess the variance in the LR stuff has me baffled. Is there a vapor/flavor trade off going on here or what's the deal? Also it's my understanding that LR on anything above 3.7v is a no-no, right?

So I think I've read too much into all this and I can't make sense of it. I know I can throw my 510 carts on and go to town, but is that optimal coming from someone using a 5v device currently? Also with the way the Grand feeds what's the difference with the atty and cart? I figured carts on my juice box made sense because of the needle, but with the Grand that doesn't seem to apply. Is using an atty just as well?

Um, help?
Please?

Hi Sponge...
Thank you for the offer of cookies, but I'm trying to lose weight!
No worries...First of all, Cartos will work just fine. I don't use them, but many here do. :)
As far as LR goes...here is how it works. When you're shopping for LR you will see many that have been labeled 1.5Ω, 1.8Ω and 2.0Ω among others. These are Low Resistance...meaning, they are allowing more power to travel through the coil that heats up the juice. The lower the resistance...1.5Ω for instance...the hotter the vape. This means that the vapor will feel warmer to you. It also means that it "cooks" out the sweeter flavors. So if you're into sweets, deserts, etc...then the 1.5Ω is probably not going to be as good as a 2.0Ω atty/or carto, in my opinion.
The same applies to higher volt vaping...using 5V batteries or 6-7+V battery combinations. You are correct in not using a LR atty/carto with these as these higher volts are too much for LR. You would need standard atties/cartos and High Voltage atties/cartos to use with those setups.
My recommendation is start with the easy....start with the 3.7V setup with a LR atty/carto to get your bearings. I could be wrong as I've never used them. I am happy with the 3.7V/LR setup. Keep us posted. :)

LOL, yum...we LOVE cookies :)

As to ohms, if you are currently vaping at 5v with a standard resistance atty, you will be happiest with LR attys with 3.7v. LR is generally anywhere from 1.5 to 2.0 ohms. The lower the ohms, the more throat hit and heat in your vape. Sweet and subtle flavors seem to do best at 1.8-2.0 ohms. A 1.5 ohm atty can be used for stronger or tobacco flavors (I use a 1.5 ohm 306 to vape VaporBomb Fire n Ice, but I use a 2.0 ohm 510 for my Green Apple). A 510 is easier to learn on than a 306, which can be a bit finicky about needing to be kept wet.

Lots of REOnauts like cartomizers and there are several threads on this forum about them. See http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/161209-reo-grand-mini-can-run-cartomizers-too.html

Congrats and welcome!!

Awesome, thanks for the info to both of you. Didn't know about the sweeter flavors being cooked out so that's good to know!

That's a good read, and that's pretty much how I approach my juice box so I was comfortable there but again the LR threw me a bit. Have people had the same results with LR carto vs LR atty? Seems like the life on the attys is longer than a carto also, is that accurate?

I've heard good things about LR @ 3.7v so I'm giving that a shot before jumping into 6v. Now if I was going to head that route though, would the standard resistance be closer to the lower resistance @ 3.7v, where you'd want a higher resistance @ 6v for sweeter flavors or a cooler vape?

Thanks again for the help, there is so much to try and take in and especially with a Grand it's just too damn versatile and well, everything works! Guess I'll just have to grab a few of everything and see what sticks. Any good recommendations on 2 ohm carts? For that matter, anything I should avoid?

The BEST thing for me about the REO is that there is NO information overload involved. I make sure my batteries are charged, my bottle is full, I grab the sucker, shove it in my pocket & go!!!! Whether i'm on a flight, in the ER, or at the waterpark, I have nothing to worry about. It's sooooooo easy compared to everything else.
I haven't tried a carto on it. I've never even used a carto to be honest. Why would I need it if I have a perfectly great bottom feeder?
Welcome to REO land!!! It's an entirely lovely world of vaping bliss! Be sure you've got your battery charged & an atty & drip tip ready with your favorite juice & BE HOME when it arrives so that you can sign for it!!
Once again, welcome & I wish you many days of blissful vaping with your new Grand!

Yeah really looking forward to the experience, actually grabbed 2 (one as a birthday present) and we're pretty stoked to get started. I'll have to do some shopping around and see what's going to work out the best for us.

She vapes 36mg liquid so I've already warned her to grab some 0mg so she don't hurt herself lol.

It's really amazing how much information there is out here about all of this and the community is superb. Now if I can settle on something and quit spending myself into a hole, that'll be the trick! :D

I'm on the lookout for unicig's version of the CE2. PattyR posted a thread about the Vortex from GotVapes she modded and used on her Reo. I'm thinking these are the same product. They put the coil/ceramic cup at the bottom. If you can bottom feed their next revision and they release them with 510 threads, I'm optimistic I can use these instead of the other attys and cartos. Plus, you can see how much juice you're feeding to the coil, much like a 306 with a transparent drip tip.

I use Boge 2.0 cartos on my Grand. I fill the carto first. Then when it needs refilled I push the bottle and suck into the carto with a drip tip on the carto. The juice feeds to the carto. Do this a couple of times and it works great! Just be careful not to get juice into your mouth. Use a Drip Tip on the carto. If your more comfortable using cartos. I say stick with those until your ready to branch out and get some attys. For the Grand, I and many other people use Cisco 2.0 lr306, 510 and ikenvape 2.0 lr 306,510. I prefer the 2.0 lr 306 on mine. Lots of vapor and plenty of flavor. If you do decide to go with atty's your juice will taste a little different as you will get the full flavor from the atty. A carto seems to slightly reduce some flavors. But overall Im very happy using cartos on my Grand.

Thanks, yeah juice mouth sucks. I use a drip tip on my juicebox for that very reason and it helps a lot. I using the 510 soft caps with it and they seem pretty hit or miss, not sure if I've just got a bad batch (2 in the box wouldn't even fire) or what but I picked up some iken v2 golds to give a try, heard good things.

And thanks redeye, I have to agree. I haven't been on here much but when I've had a question or needed some info this is where I've easily found it.
