Hello ,

I have been looking to convert from traditional cigarettes to vaporizing. I want to find a good quality vaporizer that vaporizers liquid and not the self contained cartridges. I tried a friends who vapes "gourmet" liquids however his brand of vaporizer was purchased from a retailer and cannot find the specific model online anywhere.

Basically I'm asking for assistance / suggestions on what e-cig vaporizer to buy ; I've spent the better part of the last three days digging through sites but to little avail. There are so many brands on the market at the moment all the information is simply overwhelming. If anyone would care to help a poor noob out it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section :<

Sincerely ,
Dreypa

Hi Dreypa and welcome to the forum!
I started with the Kanger Evod starter kit and I am very happy with it.
There are so many devices to choose from. I'd say look for one that has a lot of positive reviews and that you think might work for you. Buy it and give it a try. Maybe start with something that's not too expensive, that way if it's not right for you, you haven't wasted a lot of money.

Been vaping about 3 mos now so i consider myself a noob as well lol, my first set up that wasnt a Blu or V2 type was a ProTank 2 partnered with a regular ego twist battery, ive grabbed a few different batteries and tanks since but the PT2 has been a joy...Mount Baker Vapor is a good site to start at as far as juices go, huge selection and theyll get it to you fast and at a good price as well...just keep in mind that you will want to grab a couple extra devices and what your gonna vape from, dont be caught without a charged battery or or a malfunctiong tank/clearo ( try a kit where you may get a couple of each,60- 70 bucks may change your life friend... ) Good Luck

Hi Dreypa, welcome to ECF! :)

There are a lot of choices out there, and many of them offer about the same quality for what you will need.

Let me ask you a few questions and point out a few things so that people can better help you:

1) Will you be using the vaporizer or vaping a lot in a day, do you think? Or will you be doing it for a few hours a day? I ask this because batteries come in different capacities, and the higher the capacity, the longer you can use it between charges.

2) You will see this a lot here, you need backup batteries in case your main one fails. This is important because you don't want to be left without a usable battery and feel like you have to smoke again. So, getting a kit is a good idea, which usually comes with 2 batteries. I would still suggest you get at least one more soon after or with this purchase you make, just to make sure you are set. With this in mind, you can get a kit with 2 batteries and 2 vaporizers that go on top of the battery (what you put the liquids in) for roughly $40-$100 depending on where you buy, what battery capacity you need and brand the batteries are, and what tops or vaporizers you get with the kit. Do you have a budget or do you want to get the best right away or just get something to get started?

3) You will need a charger for your batteries. Many kits come with a charger, but some do not. Read the description carefully to make sure that one is included. If not, you will need to get one. For what you will likely be buying, the charger will cost about $5-$12, depending on the vendor.

4) You will need some liquids and the best place to start is with sample packs - you get a few smaller bottles of liquids to try before you buy the larger sizes to make sure they are flavors you like. Many vendors offer them, and some vendors offer just 5ml sizes, so you could just order that size too. When picking out flavors, think of what you like to eat as a place to start (fruits, desserts, drinks, etc. or even tobacco flavors).

5) What is your friend's battery called? Maybe we can find it for you.

Welcome to the forum Dreypa! You absolutely posted in the right place and on the right track to finding a good setup. I'll continue to recommend to everyone looking to start vaping to try an eGo variable voltage battery (get 2) such as the Smoktech Winder, Vision Spinner or the Joyetech Twist, and a few good tanks. I'd recommend the Kanger Evods, the Innokin iClear 16's, the Kanger Protank 2, and the Protank Mini. Here is a link to one of the best starter kits out there. http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm
I'd also recommend the Innokin iTaste VV v3. Here's a link for the express kit. Just pair it with a few tanks of your choosing, and your off! Innokin iTaste VV/VW V3

Good luck and happy vaper trails to you!

Welcome to the ECF neighborhood Dreypa,
Knowing what I know now, I wish I would have started with something like this:
Kanger eVod Kit - Red
Similar set up for my out and about kit. Charge, fill and go. Very little muss and fuss. :)

Welcome! I am pretty new to vaping too. I had no idea what I was looking for when I started, so I found a vape shop in my area. They were SUPER helpful, and let me try different batteries, tanks and flavors. Buying online is less expensive, but I am glad I was able to talk face to face with folks who knew what they were doing for my first purchase. This community is great too! LOTS of information to be found here, and many friendly people to answer questions.

Since you've had a couple of recommendations for the Evod starter kit, holy crap, vapedojo has the kit for 34.99, available, and it has everything, two batteries, two Evod clearos with five replacement heads, charger, wall adapter. I'm tempted to get one myself!

Anyway, those bottom coil clearomizers are so easy to use, fill, empty, clean. I prefer all clear, like T3, so I can see my juice level better, but you'll see, in this forum, that plenty of people use Evods, and being able to replace just the coil heads means you'll have them forever. You're coming along at a time when the equipment has gotten a lot better than when I started just ten months ago.

Welcome to the forum.

what's the initial vape budget anticipated? a lot of people like myself end up spending more than expected coz i kept buying what i wanna try as soon as i could afford it.... i should have jumped from the starter set up to the mod i was aiming for in the first place...

i had just gifted a friend my previous set up

1) 2x ego twist 650 mah (variable voltage) by joyetech
2) 1x bridgeless atomizer made by stingray @ 1.5 ohm
3) usb/wall charger
4) carto tanks and some low resistance cartomizers
5) some basic mint/menthol juice

Now he was like " wow" this absolutely works! i have no desire for cigs... that came from a heavy smoker for over 25 yrs just like me

now i just told him to get a protank2 by kanger and it will be an easy fill/clean set up.... I advised him that since he saved a lot of frustation and money , just put money away as if he was smoking and set aside 5-10 dollars a day in his car trunk and in one month get a provari then a month a reo then a cheap mech mod for back-up.. i just wish there was somebody that held my hand when i was starting off lmao... i learned quick and fast coz i wanna really cut out cigs in my life and so far i had converted a friend... i'm sure pretty soon he will be rebuilding in no time... we were buddies from way back and had background in electronics

he had first tried cig-alikes (small battery usually) that did not work since it's under powered..

Here is where I got my eGo style starter kit:

electronic cigarette starter kits

Good prices, good starter equipment and fast shipping.

The thing I liked and still like about the T2 style clearos is that they give a warm vape.
IMO, that is good for someone who is quitting smoking because it is closer to smoking a real cig.
They are also easy to fill and clean for beginners. Dry burning is a breeze on these as well.

I'll throw in a juice recommendation too. Try eVo Habanos Robust.
It is supposed to replicate a cigar taste, but to me, it gives a good tobacco like flavor, slightly sweet, but good.

I was as green as they come when I first started this journey. Bought a disposable Blu to see if I could deal with vaping, and thought it wasn't too bad. Graduated to a G6 cigalike from Halo but quickly realized why everyone around here recommends eGos - battery life! As of today, I've got a cache of G6 cigalikes for when I'm on the go, and an MVP 2 with lots of iClear 16s for at home. If had it all to do over again, I would have liked something like the Kanger Evod kit to start (small/powerful and you can't go wrong with Vapedojo's price). I still think Halo's liquids are top notch, so I'd recommend a sampler from them with an Evod kit. There are so many options it's hard to choose, so go with a highly recommended setup that's in your price range. Halo is a good one stop shop if you don't want to think too much about hardware/juice options, but there's always some other great thing that you'll find recommended on ECF. If you're not set on doing a cigalike, like I was, get an eGo twist or an Evod or something similar, with some tasty juice. Did I mention vaping is addicting? And can be expensive (if you like gadgets, like I do)?

I'm new to forum as well but have been vaping for some time now.

I remember the hours, days, and weeks spent on-line trying to find the "best" combination to help me transition from analogs. I still spend the same amount of time obsessing but now it's about tinkering with mechanical mods. Funny how one habit is replaced by another.

For me the transition was an experiential one, one of finding a way of leaving analogs (traditional combustion tobacco cigarettes) without missing the experience. It wasn't "cost-effective" but I replaced the cigarette with an e-cig that "felt" like the same physiological experience.

I didn't try to replace the motions right away, just the artefact of the cigarette itself. So I opted (by chance) on 510 style automatic batteries and cartomizers. I filled my own cartomizers with my choice of e-liquid because I never liked the prepackaged stuff. They "felt" like I was still smoking except I didn't have to worry about a lighter.

Once I started settle in, I began to notice that I wanted the batteries to last longer and the vapour to be warmer. I didn't need the motions of smoking any more, so I moved to an eGo C-Twist (a larger battery). then came the options of tanks, clearomizers, and onto advanced personal vapourizers, mechanical mods, and RBA's.

I haven't look back at smoking because it was a transition that fit me. It may be different for you. Many more experienced vapours I met during this journey always told me that I would not find an "ideal" solution as my needs would change. Maybe you might feel the same, maybe not, although many have.

Vaping is cheaper than smoking (for some), but as with anything it still costs money. If you still want the "smoking feeling" try the cigarette looking batteries 510's are a bit dated now and 808D styles are dominating (these ones look and feel like traditonal cigs).

The charge of these batteries does not last anywhere near as long but the motions are as close as you will get to smoking. Then perhaps follow the route that I and many others have. Go on to eGo's and tanks and if you feel that vaping is a thing for you then look into APV's like Provaris, Vamos. And if you turn chronic like me, you can be obsessively ordering VV circuit boards from mapvapes at 4 in the morning.

Long story short, just jumping in may or may not be conducive to quitting cigarettes. Only you can tell what you need. But you took a great first few steps, you decided to put down cigs and came here to ask questions!

Welcome to the forum.

Regards,
Flava-Vapa

well, imo, i think new vapers should start out with an ego twist and a protank II. then once they are ready for something little better, i suggest going with a mech mod with an RBA. the mech/rba combo is simply the most cost effective and reliable. they also have the potential to perform as wonderfully as your heart desires. you can adjust the build to a cooler vape, warmer vape, thicker vape, thinner vape, stronger vape, weaker vape, and so on and so forth.

hope this helps

i agree..if you go with an evod just be cautious of the juices you put in, noticed many recommending it so you should be warned certain juices will crack and/or make your plastics leak.....
protank 2 or mini protank paired with a spinner or twist battery just cant be beat for simplicity, price, and performance, perfect for any beginner imo ( again, i'd look for kits that will net you multiple items ie batteries, tanks, a charger unit etc ) please dont feel overwhelmed, you will hear this for that and that for this from everyone, figure your budget after you've looked over a few items and take what you have gotten from this thread and go from there...

and again, Good Luck
