First off... I am new to this forum but have been vaping for a few months. My wife comes into my office and wonders how I managed to acquire so much stuff in such a short period of time (she only sees what's on top of my desk)! I have been mixing some of my juice for about a month now and having a great time playing mad scientist. I still have my favorite vendors but have a good time trying new concoctions. I usually vape on a MyGo VV and it works great for me. Depending on my mood, it could be dripping, tanks or cartos.

The point of my thread..... Too much information! The more I learn, the dumber I feel!! I am probably going to go into information overload but I would love some experienced opinions on some of the issues that are near and dear to my heart. Not going to go into taste, too subjective.

First and foremost, I love my Lavatube style VV PV. I have read some good things on the forum about it but have seen it blasted by many others. It seems if you aren't vaping on a Provari, to some, you're not vaping. I suppose the Provari is the Cadillac of PV's, but does it really make such a huge difference or is it just making sure everyone else knows you are vaping with a 200.00 PV? Don't need to get into a debate with anyone, just curious.

Second thing that is driving me nuts is steeping. OMG... There are more ways to steep that there are juice flavors on the web. Top off-top on, 1 day to 30 days, take the cap off, put the cap on then repeat 2.3234 times every 24 hours. I just like to vape and find it VERY difficult to wait!! Consensus?

My analog habit is slowly but surely in decline and the fact that I love to vape makes it that much better. If knowledge is power, than ECF is the Library of Congress for vapers!

So all you night owls, take a toot and help a nicotine slave get smarter!

 Cheers!

Both PV's have limitation because of 3 amp regulator, making high voltage vaping on dual coil cartos impossible. IMO the Provari is better built and will last longer. The lavatube is a cheaply made china VV device which is great for the money to see if you like vv devices. Also the provari comes with a warranty and you can buy an extended warranty. The buttons on the lavatube don't seem to keep up with the provari. On a side note, It doesn't matter what everyone else likes. If you like it and enjoy it keep vaping like you always do. Steeping is like making coffee, everyone has their own so called ritual. To make it easier for you, "if it tastes good don't steep. If the e juice seems chemically flavored let it steep for awhile (amount of time your choice) but it does help get rid of chemical taste in juices".

For the provari thing, it's a bit of a touchy subject I guess for some. The provari was one of the absolute best, solid VV devices out there for quite a while but since the lavatube came along (only reached us around December) it's the first real contender. It's dubbed as the poor man's provari because it's like a stripped down version for a lot less money.

The lavatube is aluminium instead of steel so one factor in the debate is durability, and it makes me chuckle when it's said that you couldn't have your lavatube run over by a car and have it still work so you should pay a lot more for a provari. Just how often do you get your pv run over? lol

Along the same line is how often you drop your pv. Aparrantly if you drop your pv a lot you should buy the expensive steel version :D even though you could buy 4 lavatubes before you match the cost of one provari and you have a year's warranty on the lavatube.

Build quality is a factor as the provari is hailed as a masterful piece of precice USA engineering whereas the lavatube is a mass produced product of china. I can sort of agree as I've seen a few cases where the 510 connection was loose or not straight on the lavatube but more often than not they get them returned and get a new one sent to them. The end cap on the lavatube isn't great either, it tends to feel rough and can squeak, probably one of the bigger complaints - that and the buttons rattle.

At the end of the day, the lavatube has the same output as the provari, it's 2.5amp max and goes from 3v to 6v but dips down in output the closer to 6v you are because it's using a transformer and that's just the limitation of one battery. You can pay 4x as much for an ecig that has a few more functions and is made of a stronger metal if you can afford to and want to, or you can use one much cheaper that does the same thing, minus a few features that's pretty much just as good.

I think it is a bit of dismay over there being competition to the provari which used to be pretty much the only solid vv device and only those who were serious about vaping had one (if they could afford it). That's just my opinion because I can justify using a lavatube over a provari because it's cheaper and does basically the same job I need it to. I don't need to justify an expensive pv I bought a year before the lavatube came out, or I might have a different view.

For steeping, 90% of the time you probably wont have to steep at all. How long has that bottle of juice sat in a warehouse or on a shelf before it got to you? Depending on how long it took to ship it over to you, it could have been sat in a nice cool envelope steeping for a good while as well. Generally if it tastes bad, let it sit for a few days and see if it's any better, but if it tastes alright when you get it, why not, just vape it :D It's only really recommended that you steep juice if it's been freshly made before you get it, so that's not dekang or any other juice brought over from china with its really slow shipping times ;)

Sock Monkey...

Can't comment on the Provari, but I have to say I have been impressed with the LT. To me it seems well built and in a month of HARD use it hasn't burped yet! I like the voltage adjustment, I can change it on the fly in a matter of seconds without even looking at it. Only time will tell the quality story, but I'm sure something new with lots of bells and whistles will come out and the LT and Provari will both be old news!

Cheers!

Lavatube is a good pv for the price. The main problem with lavatube is: not sturdy enough, and it tends to lower the voltage when you use it over 5 volt. These kind of problem doesn't exist with provari. But you can buy 2-3 lavatubes for a provari. Dual coils 1.5ohm cartos can't be run more than 4.2 volt on a Provari because of the amperage limit. While the lavatube run them with lowered voltage (3-3.5 volt even when you set the lavatube @ 5 volt).
You get what you paid for. To me, lavatube is a great pv. I wish I had a lavatube instead of an ego kit when starting my vaping journey.

Sent from my mind using my fingers.
