Only people who do is V4L LLynn (guessing Ms.?). There are a number of reasons why you could be experiencing that though. If it's a cool cart then it's higher pg (somewhere in the 80/20 range max pg/vg ratio), if your pg sensitive then you'll have more reaction to premium flavors than wow. Could also possibly be you're using too high a nicotine percentage. Could be your allergic to one of the flavorings in the juice itself. Or if your coming down with a cold you'll get the sandpaper affect on the throat (same goes if you have a sore throat, etc.)....

Llynn, based on your forum join date and number of posts, I'm going to assume you are new to vaping and have been doing it for about a month and a half.

Based on your previous posts, you have been having this "gravelly" throat problem since the 12th of November, and have smoked for 37 years.

If that's the case, you are most likely going through the "cruds". It's the process by which your body is expelling all the built up stuff you have put into it. For some people, the "cruds" last a week, and for others, it lasts months. Just keep drinking plenty of water like you are already doing, and be patient.

However, it is possible that you are having a reaction to some ingredient in the actual juice. About 1% of people report having an allergic reaction to PG, and even less have an allergic reaction to VG. All V4L juice contains at least some VG. Which flavors have you tried from V4L?

TL;DR - Most likely you have the "cruds" and will just have to wait it out.

I am new to vaping, and want so bad for it to work, I chain vape alot, basically anytime I sit , which bothers me, I know it's not as bad as smoking but still, I need to work on cutting back like I did with analogs
I still want to smoke an analog, but know I really won't like the taste, but it makes me nuts sometimes thinking about it
hope that lessens as time goes by

in answer to the question of what kind of carts, I use the cool carts, premium tobacco flavor alternating between 8 and 11 mg nic, I tried some of the sample carts sent fruit and methol flavors, did not care for them

I smoked American SPirit ultra lights before I quit, maybe I am getting too much nic, but how can I get the throat hit with a lower level?

Thanks for the replies

Eleanor above has excellent advice. Vaping can be rough at first. Especially in the morning. Staying hydrated helps. Reducing nic levels helps...as it is the nic that can be abrasive.

Some of it is technique also. It is not quite the same as smoking. Everyone is different, but I take the vaper into my mouth, hold it, and then inhale slowly.
For me a manual battery works much better and is easier on the throat, because the hit isn't dependant on my draw technique. I can push the button and let it sizzzle a second before putting the cart to my mouth and drawing on it slow. This is not easy to describe, but consciously slowing your draw down and paying close attn to you results can be illuminating. It gets easier with experience and that harshness does indeed go away once you have been at it awhile.

I might also recommend a manual passthru...it operates at a higher voltage and it is easier to get a good draw going without having to force it. This can help train your brain in proper technique as you don't feel like you need to pull harder constantly to alleviate your desire for more nicotine.

But for a new vaper, the key is finding a good flavor that works for them....and this is really an individual thing. Smilin Special Menthol is a good choice. Wowboy is another. Good luck and welcome to the V4L family!!

LLynn the color is affected by the flavoring and nicotine content. Higher the nic, darker the juice. If you weren't having issues with your v2 cartos then doubt it's pg sensitivity. While they don't sell juice, have tried their prefills for testing purposes. Judging by vapor production, taste, and lack of film left behind they're mainly pg. How much water are you drinking?

Llyn, the folks here have it right. Great advice. Although I know next to nothing about your habits or needs, I'd put their and my advice in this order...

...Above all, make sure you're vaping in the right way. Mouth hits first. No burning direct hits to throat and lungs first.

...Drink way more water than normal for the first few months, at least.

...Move to a higher nic level (18 or 24) when you can. If quitting cigs is a goal, then that goal should rule for the first year. Dropping nic levels too quickly can be dangerous. No need to worry about over-vaping during year one as well.

All of the above helped me early on. Good luck.

Hey! Stop chain-vaping! Let me guess, you are dry coughing about 10 minutes every night after you lay down to go to bed. You wake up with horrible soar throat as if you were drinking glass powder all night. Once you get through the morning you are o.k., at least o.k. enough to resume chain vaping for the remainder of the day.

Believe it or not this is normal. Ancy, anxious, can't stop thinking about a smoke, then getting even more frustrated because you are dwelling over the fact...that you are dwelling over the fact you are denying yourself. You are clutching to your PV tightly like a baby with a Pacifier...which is why many refer to the first 2 months as exactly that...The Pacifier Period.

There are a couple of things going on here, many of which have been touched upon by my esteemed colleagues. But most of all what is happening is your over-doing it and having a reaction to the PG. No, you aren't allergic..it's not that..it's because PG is a sugar alcohol and the alcohol is completely drying out your mouth and throat. Just to let you know...yes, I did read all of your past posts.

Wouldn't shock me if you are vigorously brushing your teeth before going to bed, maybe even using a mouthwash. In the thought that somehow it will ease your sore throat. Here's the kicker..most toothpaste and mouthwash also contain alcohol...so it's a double wammy resulting in brutal soar throat and dry cough when you lay down for the night. Why does it get worse when you lay down? Because your mouth greatly decreases the amount saliva it produces when you are at rest.

So....find some alcohol free toothpaste and mouthwash immediately....no vaping the first hour in the morning (I know, I know) and the last half hour before going to bed. When you do vape remember..pour yourself a glass of ice water to sip while you vape and keep one by the bed when you go to sleep. You noted you are downing a gallon a day...I think a half gallon is fine..it's not necessarily how much, but when. Outside of that, remember a nice slow even draw wins the race everytime in the vaping game. Follow every word of my advice, especially about the toothpaste and mouthwash and I am confident you will lose the soar throat in the next 3-5 days.

I think your nic level is fine given you were an ultra-light smoker, menthol juices are great...but they have the same amount of alcohol as any other juice so that won't help your throat issue out. Bet you could never tell I went through the exact same thing when I started.....I know the pain..worst sore throat I have ever had in my life. The good news is it won't always be like this..you just need to make a few quick adjustments.

Love to hear how it all turns out....please let us know.
