Hi guys - I got a vapor king from V4L 3 weeks ago and haven't smoked a .... since :) Very happy with the product. I have done some searching for my questions, but some of this is brand specific. Happy with the cartomizers and am trying some flavors now. Thinking I would like to fill my own to save $ and further tailor my "experience". Can I or should I refill the carts I have or do I need virgin ones? Is 50/50 pg/vg the way to go? I think the carts I got are all pg. So, do you buy the inert ingredients, then add flavor and nic? Sorry if these qs have been answered b4, but this site is ridiculously dense. Thanks all!

I buy blanks every week and fill them with the same juice each time for as many refills as they take before flavor starts tasting off. I am pretty sensitive to the flavor changes and don't refill over 3 times. I buy both Wow Carts and Cool Carts. Wows for regular batteries and my ego and get the cool carts for vaping on my VK 5v passthrough as the Wow's burn too hot for me on the passthrough and use more juice in the process. I use juice from several suppliers and my favorites are 50/50 PG/VG. That formula vapes very good in these carts. I also love the Waffle juice from V4L when it is in stock.

Congratulations!

Filling your own is definitely a $ saver.

Can I or should I refill the carts I have or do I need virgin ones?

You can refill your used cartos, or you can buy blanks. Personally, I just refill the prefilled ones after I vape through them.

Is 50/50 pg/vg the way to go?

Totally depends on what you want. For harder throat hits, high PG % is good. For denser vapor clouds, high VG % is what you'll want. Most juices you find today are around 70/30 PG/VG ratio. If you find you have sensitivity to PG, there are 100% VG options available.

I think the carts I got are all pg.

If you got your cartos from V4L, then they all have some VG added in already.

So, do you buy the inert ingredients, then add flavor and nic?

You can Do It Yourself from scratch, but most people buy premade juice and just fill their cartos with it. Complete DIY can be a lot of work since you'd have to buy unflavored nic base, PG/VG, oil based flavorings, and do some math to make sure you don't overdose on nic.

No problem, there's a lot of information to go through here, and it's hard to tell what's out of date or not (information wise). Don't get discouraged, spend a little time reading up on the stickies at the top of this subforum, and ask any questions you want. We are all here to enjoy each other's company and help newbies.

Thanks, peeps - you are all too kind! I just received in the mail today some new flavors to try. I started with the parliament cool cart (cos that's what I smoked) and that's fine - I will keep the 24s I have left for cravings. I got a menthol sampler, the Wowboys and some apple cinn cran. Lookin forward to checkin em out after work! So glad I found this device and forum!

How long can I expect the battery to last (# of recharges)? How many "hits" can one expect to get out of a prefilled cart? (approx, of course) When I start to fill my own, will they last the same as a prefill? So many questions, so much time ;-)

they say its around 300 charges. I have so many batts...lol and in my opinion (and Im a heavy vaper) is that prefills only last part of the day. Refilling is the way to go! prefilled are fun for trying out flavors and stuff for me.

Good idea keeping higher nic around for cravings. Don't be afraid of ordering stuff that doesn't sound too appealing but yet everybody is raving about it on the forums.. Sometimes there are flavors that are awesome, but just didn't sound good at all when first starting vaping (like Butterscotch)

How long can I expect the battery to last (# of recharges)?

Hard to tell really.. I've heard anywhere from 150-300 charges. I usually "retire" a battery when I order a couple new colors, but the battery still works fine. I've only had 1 battery die, and it was due to a clogged auto switch.

One carto will last the "average" vaporer 1 day. Some people will take 2-3 days to go through a carto, and others will go through 5 cartos a day. If I had to guess at how many "hits", I'd say 150-200ish?

When you fill your own, they should last the same as a prefill or possibly more. Factory filled cartos have 1ml of juice in them, so depending on your method of filling (syringe, drip, condom method), you can get less or more in each cart per fill.

How many refills does one get per cart, generally speaking?

Most people that refill say they refill about 5 times per carto. I've personally refilled a lot of cartos 50+ times. As long as you don't actually burn them completely dry, and do some maintenance, they can last a LONG time. But because they are so cheap, and are considered disposable, lots of people don't want to do all that extra maintenance.
