I'll hold final judgement untill after the "break-in period" is completed....

Well most of my fellow reonauts know if something new comes along (in the way of attys) I've GOT to try it. Being a die hard 306 atty fan its hard for me to "go back" to using 510's. This new "hybrid" that Hannah is making is a whole different animal than your average 510 though...

Following the instructions to the letter I blew the excess primer out from the battery end of the atty. Slapped it on my ninja black reo grand for testing purposes (the spring is much easier to replace on the metal mods than the woodvils. Just an extra precaution...) I then added 5 or 6 drops of tasty waffle juice from my stash... Let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then took a "dry hit". Got the "desired" gurgling effect that the instructions specified... I took a couple of small puffs, and then added 2 more drops of juice. Next drag I took was a "normal" puff for me. I was expecting a "moderate" throat hit and decent vapor due to the 1.5Ω 306 internals nature... I wasn't prepared for the CLOUD of vapor I expelled though!:vapor: Every puff thus far, has been better than the last. I still haven't mastered the amount of squonk to properly wet the coil without slightly over doing it. I'm a quick learner though, and if this thing keeps getting better it will be worth the time invested to get it down as I have the 306 technique.

I was expecting a somewhat "burnt" taste like I get with all 1.5Ω attys in the past due to the sweetness of the juice I vape. Plesantly surprised thus far again. Its a "warmer hit" no denying that, but I can still really taste the flavor. TH is a little better than my "go to" 306 cisco 2.0Ω attys provide. Still not really strong due to the juice I'm vaping.

I also have to say that the "draw" on these is just about what I would consider "perfect". Its not overly stiff, or too airy. Just right IMHO...

I'm not crazy about the price tag. For what I paid I fully expect longevity out of it. Time will tell if it was really worth the investment. So far though, I AM IMPRESSED!:vapor::2cool::vapor: (YMMV)

I will add thoughts and updates later after break-in is completed....

EDIT... And NO leaks at all thus far! :2cool:

Here's a Macro close up of the "guts" of the atty, and one of the packaging.

Thanks for the initial review Mike. Keep us updated. If it preforms great and lasts a long, long time it would be worth the $$$. They do have 306 coils inside, right? And just to make sure this is sold by avid?

Correct, cisco spec 306 internals to be exact. Hanah, "hand makes" or assembles them, tests them, and then Avid sells them.

All I can say is its a really good thing I'm not driving down the road vaping with this...I'd have to roll down the windows to see! 3ml's down and its still improving. The taste has made a marked improvement. The vapor, I don't see how it could get any better than it is now with 50/50 juice.

Side note...still haven't quite figured out how much/hard to squonk the juice to this atty. Seems like I either do too little, or a tad too much...(Too much is better than not enough though!)

Does the HH.357 have the steel mesh wrapped around the circumference of the cup, barely visible, and no mesh bridge, like the Hybrid?

Although it is highly recommended by our Mod Master to use Hybrid BF, Vapage, "at your own risk" I am loving the Hybrid. It requires much less squonking and flavor and TH are phenomenal. It started out a little airy for me, 2.0 ohm, but second day it is tightening up ever so slightly. I'm not using it exclusively. It is one of three Wood Reos being used equally. I've been using, almost exclusively, an IKV 801 for a month now so many attys will seem a little airy compared.

If the hh.357 proves to be durable I will certainly spring for one or two.

Alice, I can only say that the hybrids I couldn't see the coils in for the mesh. I can look in these and see the exposed coil without mesh covering it. There is something surrounding the perimeter around the coil. Don't think its mesh, but I may be wrong...

Interesting. I have the Hybrid and using a 2.0 right now. I can see the coils just like on a debridged 510. I see the little, white ceramic, rectangular cup with the coil sitting inside it. The main difference I see between the two I mentioned is the steel mesh around the outer cup. Again, the coils, around a small amount of wick, is the only thing clearly visible when I look down in tube. The mesh, normally over the bridge,(for people who aren't familiar with debridging attys) holds a tremendous amount of juice.

I haven't opened a Hybrid 1.5 ohm, yet, but I don't see why they would be any different except for the coil wire diameter and/or amount of wraps around the small amount of wicking needed to wrap coils around. Do your Hybrids have "Vapage" laser etched vertically on the outside of atty tube, if silver? If not, then maybe they aren't real Hybrids. Where did you get them? The whole idea of the Hybrid is to get rid of the bridge mesh and place it around the cup to keep the coil well wetted and away from upward heat of mesh over coil. I'll see if I can get a pic.

I thought you went to bed?

Hugs, Alice

the guts look very interesting, that is one beefy coil. One thing that worries me a bit is the steel mesh appears kinda wild and a couple strands are reaching towards the coil.

I do see what your saying, but mine ohmed out exactly 1.5Ω's... I took a toothepick and carefully pushed the mesh away from the coil.

Oh my doGness. Look at the coils!!!!!!!! That is some serious coil!!!! I got in my iAtty (rebuildable tank atty, invented by Imeo of GG fame and ordered some extra wire, resistant and non and wicking, but haven't had time to play with it yet. I'm going to use it on my ProVari. I'll eventually become proficient in wire diameters and number of coil wraps and type of wire. COV was out of the silver wire.) There is a potential that the HH .357 might, virtually, last forever if the contact wires, below, are as rugged looking as the coil wire.

Next post will be pics of my Vapage Hybrids 2.0 and 1.5 ohm, COV.

Caution..... Rob, the Mod Master, says to use the Vapage BF, "at your own risk" because of the very high standing center post, that has the potential to short out a mod.

I'm gonna have to order one HH .357 just to inspect it.

The pics, I just posted of the Vapage Hybrid, actually are an optical illusion, in that the mesh doesn't come up over the rectangular ceramic cup. It looks messy but is actually almost invisible even looking at it with high powered magnifying glass.

Thanks for the picts Alice:wub: The Cisco spec coil dwarfs the vapage coil imho... To me, that means the one with the "beefier coil" will most likely last much longer (theoretically of course)...:2cool:

Here's something I learned last night about the squonking "issues" I was having with this atty on my Grand...

I'll add this info for anyone using these attys on a reo. Its very easy to "over squonk" and flood them. If you install the "reducer tube" that Rob usually includes with the baggie of goodies that come with the reos it WILL help alot. It limits the amount of juice thats shot up to the atty.

That certainly is the beefiest coil I've ever seen and there is no wick inside the coil which will be a plus for people who have isues with burnt, caked up juice on coil wicks. I, personally, have never had any issues with that with wicks using my cleaning method and pulsing dry burns. For the extra wick that goes up to the mesh bridge, on a regular 306, a small torch cleans that up nicely.

The wire that is used for the iAtty (rebuildable tank/atty combo - Imeo, GG creator) resistant and non resistant wire, is very fine like "regular" attys. People are still experimenting with different wire and will be for some time. Maybe HH is on to a major improvement in atty coils. Sure hope so.
