So I was vaping V4L BeachBum in a mega Carto and left it for a week while I tried other juices. I picked it up today and it tasted horrible it really went bad. The rancid taste was so strong there was no question I would never be able to clean the carto I tried but it steel reeked. So I decided to open it up and see what exactly is inside one of this big boys. It was Extremely easy with a dremel cut-off wheel, less than two minutes...

So you got the before Dremmel pic, then the coils, the Ohms with coils still going strong and the total parts, the filling (Synthetic fiber spongy kind of the stuff you find inside cheap stuffed animals) is a roll then you have a different material (more like a cloth) going once around each coil and a little bit of tube like insulator at the top, and that is it.
So its not terrible interesting but if some one was wondering here it is.

@baditude, Exactly!
That is what I was thinking I took a big whiff of that little piece but it doesn't smell of the rancid pop corny smell I got (i might actually licked it a little to be sure :p) But no the actual juice that I extracted is the one that smelled bad.. It smelled like butter gone bad combined the smell you get from kitchen rags when you leave them moist.
I was vaping it with a Vmax at 3.2v Now as you know the Vmax actually delivers almost a full volt extra.

I tried those XXXXL Smoktech DC cartos when I got my first two mods a few months ago. I eventually (actually, quickly) switched to using cartotanks pretty exclusively.

I remember those huge cartos. They produced a lot of vapor, and pretty nice flavor with some juices, too, as I recall. They also liked to be topped off frequently, which I didn't quite understand, considering that they hold at least 4 ml liquid.

I gotta say, tho, I'm not a fan of dual coils, at least not the regular size that fit in a tank. I continued to order replacements for my tanks, not even considering that single coils would work in them, too. After experiencing more cartomizers with a burnt taste than I liked in the tanks, I decided to give the single coils a try. And I'm glad I did.

I've been using the Smoktek single coils for a couple of months now and I've not had any burnt taste in any. Same flavor and vapor production. More battery life, too, which is a big plus. If you've only used dual coils, I recommend trying some single coils, you may like them better.

Ohh that is interesting All the Cartos including the punched ones for the tanks I have right now are dual coil, I will order some single coils to try them out. I have been for a week trying some vivi novas and the vision clearos, I m really liking it. a bit less flavor but tons of vapor and I know exactly how much juice I have left. The bills keep adding up but not a single analog in 4 months yey!

I get mine from here:

Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL

and just yesterday received some of these to try because of positive recommendations from users here. It's nice to have multiple options:

I've got a few of the Vivi Nova clones from Smoktech (Titan or Screw Tanks). I liked them initially, but quickly became dissatisfied with their inability to provide the same flavor that a cartomizer tank can.
