Oh, hey! No I hadn't noticed.. That's pretty cool. I get the feeling NC doesn't have too many vapers.. Too far into tobacco country maybe? You'd think with the number of colleges around and RTP right in the heart of the state, that we'd be immersed in the new tech!! Well, some of us are, I guess. :)

I just noticed that on my profile page... you posted a "Hello from Raleigh" back a year and a half ago! madvapes is a little over an hour from me.. been there a couple times but only if I was in the area to begin with. Their online prices are cheaper than their store prices so it's easier and cheaper to just order. I've heard there's a vape lounge in Raleigh.. don't get up that way too often. Anyway, nice to see you again :)

I currently have no plans on getting NR wire.. I really don't want to have to mess with trying to twist the two together and I never had a problem with "hot legs" in my VN that I know of. (But never say never.. next thing I know, I'll be ordering NR wire)

From the pictures it looks like the coil is closer to the grommet on Srunker than on a Vivi Nova, so the "hot legs" could be shorter and not be as big of a problem as they are on the Vivi Nova. Atleast for some. I couldn't stand the regular coils on the Vivi Nova, everything tasted like an old toast to me...

I wish the top cap was shorter on the Drunker. I'm not sure I'd like the length. This could be a good coucher for me though.

It's here!! This is a big boy for sure LOL! Here it is beside the vulcan/did clone. As you can see, it's no taller than the vulcan but it's fat. Looks really good on the provari. I haven't done anything to it yet except fill it.. still using the stock wick and coil that came in it. (never waste a perfectly good wick and coil) Mack, I can't wait for you to get yours!

It's metering at 2.4ohms and I'm vaping it at 3.9v so far. It's a fog machine. As far as the taste... it's still got that "new" coil and wick taste...but the wick is silica so cotton will be different. The clean pure taste of the ss mesh in my vulcan is much better but as I vape the drunker, the taste is getting better. To fill it, I had to insert a needle into one of the wick holes.. maybe the whole top unscrews like the VN but I was too impatient get it filled. :D

Here it is beside the VN, a bit taller.

The taste is really coming through now after just a few minutes of vaping. The draw is perfect, not too tight, not too airy. Much MUCH better (so far) than the VN.

Got tired of the stock silica wick. The hard part for me was getting the wicks thin enough.. I cut tiny slivers off of the rounds. I couldn't wrap my coil first then thread the wicks through.. I had to wrap my coil around my wicks and then install it into the cup. IMO.. rebuilding the VN and setting up the vulcan with SS mesh was easier. I'm sure I'll get better with practice. Stuffing those wicks down into the tank wasn't a piece of cake either LOL. Letting it soak for a couple hours now.

My coil is 32g kanthal, 5 wraps, metering at 3ohms.

I've been vaping a couple hours with this and am really happy with it! The cotton is WAY better than the silica that came in it. The silica gave a straw taste but the cotton is more on par with my ss mesh in the Vulcan. It's really sturdy.. I feel like it can be tucked in my purse (unlike the Vulcan) it's going to work withe tomorrow :D I hope the wick and coil last awhile cause I can't change one without changing the other and that's not something I wand to do too often. Once a week would be alright.

If you like the vn you'll LOVE this!

Glad to see you lovin the new atty, makes me want mine even more lol. The color of the juice you use has a lot to do with how long your wick and coil last. Really dark colored juices gunk things up within a few days, really clear juices take weeks. What type of cotton are you running in it?

I'm using makeup rounds. If I can go a week or more between changing and the flavor stays like it is now... this thing will be the closest thing to perfect I've found yet!

An update... I took the drunker to work with me atop the provari.. everything was going well.. I was sneaking off to the bathroom every chance I got. I took off the top cap to look at my coil (just because I could) and when I screwed it back on.. nothing, it wouldn't fire. I took it off the provari, took out the battery, put it back in and it worked for a couple minutes. Then I started getting E1 codes.. then I got an E8 code  Now I guess I'll take it apart and rewick/recoil it tonight :glare:

It was vaping so good last night I didn't want to stop to go to bed. I know shorts happen but I'm disheartened a bit. I'm just glad I had a backup with me for the ride home. The Provari is fine, I put a carto tank on it and it works like normal.

Since it has a ceramic cup I would imagine the short would have to be with the legs. A benefit of mounting the coil first with a needle or rod on my vivi novas is after the grommets are in, I can pull the legs tight and the needle keeps the coil in place while straightening the legs. I also take a bright led flashlight to inspect the legs inside after twisting off the excess wire and sliding the needle out. Also pv's with short protection can be extra sensitive, if your ohm's are low they can read as a short especially if it fluctuates lower with use (like around 1.5). I'll be more helpful when I get mine in a couple days though lol.

I'm back! My hard drive started failing yesterday. Thankfully it's a work computer so they overnighted me a new one. Trying to pull data off a HD with read/write issues is a serious pain!

Sorry to hear it crapped out on you! Mine shorted randomly 2 nights ago, it had been working fine.

The more I use cotton, the more I realize how superior it is to silica. I tried to make a couple silica wicks on my A7 and they tasted really bad.

Going to rebuild again tonight (I think, I hope). Been a crazy couple of days!

What type of cotton are you running in your atties? I love cotton and every type performs completely different depending on its form or how it's wove.

....... I know shorts happen but I'm disheartened a bit. .....

The first place I'd look is where you break off the wire after it comes through the grommet and center pin. Don't trim your wire with scissors or nail clippers but break it by bending it up and down, not twisting, and make sure it snaps flush. Any random shorts I ever had on my reduxes turned out to be in that area.

Looked at the bottom around the grommet and yes, there were small pieces of the kanthal hanging out. I'm building again now and this time I'll snap them off flush rather than using nail clippers to clip them off. Thanks!

the tricky part is stuffing the wicks through the 4 wick holes. Two of mine just broke off while trying to get them down into the holes.. I figure 2 will be enough so rather than tear the whole build down I left it like that. I like this 32g kanthal.. I can get higher ohms with 5 wraps.. better battery life.

Mack is my goto on all things cotton. There's lots of good info in his 'different cottons' thread if you haven't read it yet.

Sorry to hear about your hard drive. And yeal, off times they fail after warming up so it gets to be very time consuming to rescue data from them. I had one that got so bad I had to pull it out, put it in a plastic bag and pop it in the freezer for about an hour to get it to run long enough to get the data from it.
