Supplier/MFG/Vendor link for the silver beads please?

Thank you!

I got them here:
Sterling Silver 1mm Crimp Beads

You need to make an account to see the price, but here they are:
$4.28 per box of 100 beads if you buy 1 or 2
$3.71 each for 3-4 boxes
$3.20 each for 5-9 boxes
$2.88 each for 10-19 boxes

Don't know how many to order? You need 2 beads per coil.

I picked up the 1mm beads with the .025" hole. Works very well. It would still work with 30g silver and 30g kanthal/nichrome. (about .005" left of space with those wires. With 32g kanthal/nichrome there is .007" empty space in the hole. PLENTY of space!)

I also picked up this tiny crimper. Works wonderfully.
Micro-Crimping Pliers

They also sell 30g silver wire for a fair price and you can pick however many feet you want.

You should be able to pull out the silica easily. Your cotton wick should be thin enough to slide into the coil, so you should be good.

Wick assists seem to work well in my experience. I say go for it. Why waste the wire if you don't need to?

Thanks, that's what I did, seemed to go well. Cotton is soaking now, that is the most frustrating part, waiting on soaking. If I really like this tank I'm going to order a second one tomorrow.

While I sometimes try too many new things at once and get really frustrated, when this tank is set up properly, it really performs. There's trial and error to rebuilding anything, of course, and I've had lots of learning experiences with this. My mistakes have mainly been using too thick of a wick.

My BEST wick ever was cheesecloth. I let it soak for about 20 hours. It just kept going. The flavor was great. The vapor was great. And it lasted a while!

This is a vivi nova grommet. nothing to do with the drunken tank but the desing is tha same

The drunker design is similar, but not the same. The ceramic will insulate the heat of the coil and the only heat the grommet will have will be from a very short section of wire.

To me, the bigger issue with the drunker is the long legs making it impossible to build a medium ohm coil with enough wraps. The best I can do (negative leg twisted) still comes in at 2.7 ohms. Not a problem for my yj, but not the best for my bolt.

I was planning on letting this soak all night before trying it. I did this one with cotton balls, my kids have once again lost every pair of scissors in the house ( I don't know what it is about scissors and sock...it drives me nuts). I'll pick up some cheese cloth tomorrow and try it, I've rewicked ViVi nova's with the cotton rounds before which worked really well. I won't be giving up on this one, I just get really frustrated when I have a new ViVi nova wicked and have to wait hours before vaping with it, the drunker is cheap enough that it is no. It deal to order a second one if I like it.

try twisting the whole wire

Wow. You're not kidding.

I just re-coiled mine while watching TV and I guess I wasn't paying attention and did too many wraps. I ended up with a 3.5 ohm coil. Sheesh.

That'll teach me to do this stuff while watching Wipeout. :)

..... I'll pick up some cheese cloth tomorrow and try it, ....

Here's some tips I picked up from the forum here that I'll pass along.

I would suggest trying the loose weave, bleached cheese cloth if you can find it. Lay it out flat and square it up, then cut between a couple of threads using the threads as a guide. I use 1/2 inch for my coils, but that will depend on the diameter of your coils. Experiment a little to determine how much you want to start with by measuring a few short wicks and testing them for fit in your coils. By measuring, we can have repeatable results.

After cutting out the wick, start by folding the edges back toward the center and fold it up, then roll into shape. On one end, rake out the cross threads for about half an inch, twist the long threads and wrap a little tinfold to hold them. As you go through holes and coil, spin the tinfoil a little as you thread the wick through. Once through, take some of the spins back out.

On the drunker, I like to start from the bottom, up through one hole, across the ceramic, down through a hole, loop back up through the adjacent hole, back through the coil and down the remaining hole.

Some of the tips above came from this video. Quigs also talks about a thread cound but that's not needed, just measure for repeatable results.

Start it at about 5:00 and watch a few seconds to see how he shapes his wicks. GG Penelope with a Cheese Cloth Wick - YouTube

LOL. Soooo, how does it vape? Hit it with about 4.4 volts and let us know. :vapor:

Just thought I'd post this link for anyone who wants to order some coils with NR wire already installed on the coil. Avidvapor is selling them. A good idea to use them while practicing building your own. The silica in the coil looks loose enough to pull out and install cotton. If nothing else, it shows a closeup of what they look like.

After a week or so my coil is still metering 2ohms... right now I'm vaping it at 4.4v!

Yeah. 4.4v might be a bit low for 3.5 ohms. I've got it up at 5.2v and it's working pretty good.

Great. Glad it's working for you.

Yeal, I forget that that most folks like their vape a little warmer than me. My sweet spot is usually somewhere between 5 and 6 watts.

I made one coil for the drunker that was 4 wraps and ~ 2.2 ohms. I didn't care for it and went back to 6 wraps at 2.7 ohms. I'm thinking about picking up some nickel wire and doing twist connections with it for the drunker.

Just got my Drunker in from GotVapes. I really liked the looks of it and was excited to start using it. Right of the start is was leaking from around the top of the tank. It looks like the tank isn't round or the top cap is not right. When its screwed down you can see that the tank and cap are off on one side allowing it to leak. Its not cross threaded crooked but the cap extends past the tank on one side. The cap does easily screw down flush with the tank. Really bummed about that. Hope GotVape's will let me exchange it for another one.

Bought 3 from MadVapes. The quality is not the greatest on the one I'm using and I suspect the two laying on my desk will be about the same quality. I agree, the threading has a lot to be desired.

But I still like it better than I did my Vision Eternity Rebuildable Drip Atty. The draw and flavor are much better on the Drunker (in my opinion). Still haven't got rebuilt the Drunker, & the next couple days are really busy so won't get to rebuilding for a bit.

OK, so after some more trial and error I have come up with this;

-4/5 wrap 32awg Nichrome (2.2 ohms)
-4 strands of "Mercerized" 100% cotton yarn
-2 3.7v 16340 LiMn batteries 8v's
-Homemade battery box, very small and completely "Palmable"

After researching mercerized cotton it is chemically treated but thoroughly cleaned and is essentially 100% pure cotton with no chemical residue. The main difference with this yarn and regular cotton is..... The mercerization process makes the cotton super absorbent! The perfect wicking material. I also boil it for 5 minutes before use.

I realize that im vaping at 25 watts or more but the coil does not turn red and the cotton does not burn!!! The only issue ive had is that after 1 tank the coil has some carbon build up from the flavorings and sweetners but the cotton wick is "like new". The vapor produced is thick with a good throat hit but not too hot at all, still cooler than a cigarette. For those of you that have not tried your Drunker at higher voltages I highly recomend it. This is where this RBA really shines. I take shorter "cigarette like" draws for equivalent amount of vapor from low voltage "Long draws"

I really like this Drunker and it is now wayyyy ahead of my old DCT setup!

P.S. Im not really sure of the actual wattage on my homemade battery box with this setup because my Vamo set at 15 watts is the same or maybe hotter using the above mentioned Drunker setup. I believe I maybe maxed out somewhere in my setup ie batteries, wiring etc. All I can say is that this is my best vaping experience since starting 2 years ago.

I am new to rebuilding coils so which is better nichrome or kanthal? Thanks ahead.

That is more of a personal question, some like one better than the other. That being said most find Kanthal more to our liking. One isn't better than the other, they are just different alloys with different properties. Main difference being nichrome alloy has lower ohm resistance than kanthal. Some would also say nichrome has a slight metallic taste.

If you're about to start rebuilding, start with what wick type you decide to start with and do some research. The search engine at the top here will be a big help.
