Hello everyone, I am new to ECF but not new to vaping, I started years ago when vaping consisted of a atomizer and a tip with the filler and juice. I was not happy with the way those tasted and it pushed me back to analogs, well I came back around from time to time to see how far the E-cig world has gone with new ways of vaping, so i picked up some cartomizers but really didn't enjoy those to much either, (Filling all the time turned me off) and again went back to analogs. But now I am back I made my own resolution to kick analogs and the tanks seem to be what I enjoy the most.. I have been smoke free since 9pm 12/31/2012 and very proud of myself. Now that the long story is out of the way my real question..I am currently using a EGO twist vv and two of my old knock off ego batteries from my first atomizer attempt years ago. I want to get a MOD but there are so many i don't really know which way to go. I've read reviews and watched videos (GRIMM GREEN/PBUSARDO your awesome:)) but I'd really like a broader user opinion. Whats your favorite? Money is not an object at this point because I am already saving from quitting analogs. What do you think?

Congrats on finding your way back to vaping and welcome to the ECF :) The most loved mod seems to be the Provari. It is built like a tank and even known to survive getting dropped in water. Some here will say you should go for variable wattage but variable voltage suits me just fine. Watch a lot of reviews on different devices and narrow it down that way. I don't think you will find any complaints about the Provari other then price and as you said you are saving a ton not buying analogs. Good luck and happy vaping:)

If money is not a factor and you can afford it, you can't go wrong with a Provari. To borrow a famous pitch line from Lee Iacocca, "If you can find a better mod...then buy it."

I won't go into the virtues of the Provari. They are everywhere on these forums if you look for them. All I can say is that I have one and can't imagine being without it. And to me it is worth every penny; you get what you pay for with this.

I'll go into a little more detail. As noted before, I have a Provari. A friend co-worker decided to start vaping last week. He called me when I was out of driving in my car to ask for advice on what to get. He also was interested in getting a mod. I told him when I get home I'll grab my Provari, VV Gripper, Silver Bullet, and BB, and I can drop by his house for a live demonstration. (He lives like 5 minutes from my home.)

Well, I give him a call when I get home and find out he called another co-worker who is using a ProSmoker Legacy. He has already made his order for that, since he spent an evening at the bar vaping it with her. I say, cool, that's a nice mod.

A few days later he tells me at work that his Legacy is at home in the mail box. He wants to see my Provari and takes a few minutes vaping on a cartotank of my favorite flavor, Virgin Vapor's Kona Velvet Milkshake. He says, "Man, this is NICE! Dude, this is spoiling me" and he wants to borrow the Provari to compare. Although I've never loaned out my "Precious" before, I said ok. I still have my Gripper to use for myself, and I expected to get Provari back the next day.

This was Thursday nite, and I didn't go to work on Friday because I had to work an unexpected double shift on Thursday nite. I half expected him to call me to say let's meet up somewhere so that I can return your Provari. Well, it's Sunday afternoon and I still haven't heard a word from him. I guarantee he has been using my Provari over his new Legacy for the past 4 days. I'll get it back tomorrow at work.

well a quick trip to the provari forums and a PBusardo review will show you all you need to know about a ProV there are no PV owners who regret buying it maybe people who say its not for them.
the darwin while cool is not made anymore and may be a problem if repairs are needed, not sure.
beyond that there are just features like VW and looks separating the ProV from everything else.

at this point i bet us PV owners sound like drones. its reliable, incredibly accurate and dam near indestructible, with the best cust service and warranty there is

Well, lol okay I think I get the point. I have heard that the Provari isn't exactly user friendly whats your thoughts on that. I know the darwin does the work for you but looks like a tire gauge to me. Knowing that I have common sense and a good understanding of electronics did it take you long to know your way around it?

Take a look at the VAMO, I know everyone so far is raving about the Provari but the VAMO does what the Provari does and it also offers the variable wattage function at about 1/3 the cost. Check out PBusardos review of the VAMO and the Provari... Right now he is recommending the VAMO.

guess you never watched his provari review.

yea changing setting takes like 45 seconds to learn.

press the button 5 times, menu opens, go to setting you want to change, wait 3 seconds, change it , done.

There are some people who complain that the one button control is awkward, but to me it seems to be the people who don't even own a Provari. It took me all of ten minutes to master the control mode setup. It's not rocket science.

The most used modes are either power up or power down. Five fast clicks and you are there. Just continue pressing the button to increase voltage. Or two more clicks gets you to the power down mode. Pretty simple and I do it now without thinking.

Additional clicks and you get to where you can get a voltage readout on the current battery in use, another two clicks and you can get the ohm reading on your juice carrying device "under load". The power button starts to blink slowly when your battery needs replaced (this feature can be turned off). There's a mode to turn off the entire device, but I've never turned the Provari off.

I do recommend paying a little more to get the blue or green LED letters, they are easier to read than the red.

In the $150-$200 range there isn't a finer choice than the Provari in terms of quality. I've had mine for close to a year and it has never malfunctioned. The only time it's ever given me errors were due to what I was trying to use on it. For less, get yourself a solid fixed voltage tube mod and use the Kick to dial up and down the wattage. Just make sure to ask around as to whether the mod can take a Kick and what configuration (needs an extension?) it needs to be in.
