Sorry if this is a dumb, or well-answered question - I couldnt find anything but my search skills are not the best.

What can I use instead of Kanthal to rebuild coils. Specifically something that may be easier to find - Im currently away in Indonesia and cant get Kanthal here - is there something else I can try and get that is designed for other things?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Kanthal is available worldwide! If it is available in china, the USA, Europe and most other countries, areas, around the world it is available where you are now. You may have to order it from an internet site and it might take weeks to get to you but it is available.
That's like saying "Can I use something other than gasoline in my car. We don't have access to Gas". Then you don't have a car.

If you are in a remote part of the world with no mail or delivery service then I doubt you will find any resistance wire available to you.

Yea i see your point - although the whole reason i am asking is to see if i could use anything more readily available here - I'm really not knowledgable about the properties of Kanthal. If the alternatives are equally as specialist as the real thing then i'll order from abroad and hope the shipping and customs delay is not its usual painful process here, or just hope my current coils last till my next trip home in a couple of months.
Basically i know i can get it with a sizable wait online but wanted to see if there was any quicker option

Appreciate the help, thanks

Don't feel bad. I live in Atlanta Georgia USA and I couldn't find Kanthal locally. The US postal service screwed up my order of Kanthal coming from a dealer in Florida, One state away from me, saying the address wasn't correct and sent it back to the dealer. It never left Florida so how did they know the address wasn't correct (and the address was correct). So I tried to find some locally and couldn't. A member on this forum who also lives around Atlanta contacted me and gave me a few feet to tied me over until a new order arrives.

So it's not just where you live. Are there any vape shops around you?

Wow guess its not just me with unreliable post then!

Yea theres no vaping stores as such here - vaping is seen as the most disgustingly unhealthy thing in the world by the majority of people here - thanks largely to the power of the tobacco companies in all aspects of life in Indonesia - I would say 85%+ of adults smoke like chimneys, but see e-cigs as basically poison. Would be funny if it weren't so sad. Its possible to get basic starter kits off individual sellers who basically fly to nearby countries or even US, buy some stock, mark it up a ton and sell them. But accesories beyond starter kits arent part of what they tend to have. (case in point - ego v with mini protank 3 and 5 heads =$150 )

Thats why I'm starting to make a giant shopping list when I do return to the US for a work break - not to sell, but to keep me in supplies and backups so Im not caught short again until Im finished. For now though, just trying to keep enough life in my protank coils to last until then.
