Intensify DIY flavors?

I've been mixing my own e-liquid for a few weeks now using the lorann oils and a combo of straight VG and/or some commercial menthol 0mg liquid. Is there a trick to getting more flavor? I'm using an ego-t and the taste seems consistent for the life of the tank (if i'm using grape for example), I get the same grape taste all the way through, I would just like there to be a little more intensity to the flavor. Should I be cutting down on the VG and adding more flavor? Is this where an LR atomizer would help? An example mix would be 70 drops of pure VG, 15 drops of distilled water, and 15 drops of lorann grape.

I think that different people have different sensitivities to the various chemicals used to make flavorings. So the taste and strength are subjective and depends, in part, on your genetic make up.

I find that LorAnn has low tasting levels and tastes too much like candy (for me).
Anything from Tastypuffs has a weird sock juice taste that I cannot find pleasant no matter how hard I try (ended up throwing away everyone of them). This is not a judgement on their product. I am sure that plenty of people like these flavors, otherwise they wouldn't be in business. They are not for me though...
I LOVE FlavorArt's Lemon and coconut. The orange is OK.
I am waiting on my Perfumer's apprentice order to check out their flavors.

My point is that I recommend you try different manufacturers. The same flavor can be very different from one to the other. You need to find the one that suits YOU.

Some combinations are also more potent than stand alone.

Keep trying. I think it's fun.

I agree with Astatine on the flavors, they are very subjective. The equipment can also have a lot to do with it. Some flavors seem to really come out at certain temperatures and disappear at others. You may want to try adding a little higher concentration of flavor, although according to your example you are already at 15% flavor which I find is on the high side for Loranns. One thing to consider, however is the size of those drops. If you are using a thicker VG, then you may very well be getting pretty large drops compared to those of the flavoring, possibly changing your percentage by quite a bit.

Yeah that is a good point - every flavoring needs a different percent in the juice as the recommended amount. From Tobacco Absolute which uses 1/2 a drop to some flavorings that need to be 15% or more of the juice. Read the DIY guide in the DIY forum and follow any links to lists of the brand of flavorings you are using - they may list recommended percentages.

    in a cave, eh?
You have an Ego-T regular resistance tank atomizer. You will get much more flavor from a low-resistance tank atomizer. A really good setup for getting a good hit from your juice is a 306 low-resistance atomizer and 306 drip tip, instead.

When you're mixing, 100% PG will give you the most flavor and throat-hit. VG will give you more vapor, but less flavor. Consider a 70% PG / 30% VG mix for a good balance. You can mess with the percentages to suit your taste.

I haven't tried mixing with LorAnn flavors, but you might need to double the drops in your recipes.

Thanks for all of the flavor advice! I will investigate some of the other flavorings you suggested. I'm an ex-pipe smoker so the vapor is probably the most important thing to me. I'm going to see if I can find some PG locally and try mixing it with the VG. I just bought some Chill #2 0mg menthol juice from cignot (emus that's what I meant by commercial menthol) and it's a PG/VG mix with menthol. It seems to hold it's flavor a little better so I will start experimenting!

I have bought some of the flavour art from ecigexpress and had good luck. I also got something called sweetener, but cannot tell if it is making a difference. any idea if this is good to use?

I have Perfumers Apprentice sweetener and it gives an artificial sweetener taste so I don't use it much.

How strong are the Flavor Art flavorings?

    5% or more needed?
