Interested in making my own Mod, Help

I love making things, and would like to give this a try and see how it turns out.
I have looked for thread on how to make a basic mod, something like the i.e. gg, the bb, chuck, whatever etc etc. I don't want to make a box mod.

If you know of any good threads or videos I can watch to give me the basics on making a MOD, I would appreciate it.
I have read the sticky for batteries and it helped greatly with understanding batteries.

I would like it to be 3.7v - 5v nothing more nothing less.

How do I go about this? what are the basics I am going to need?
Probably a lot to write, so if there is a sticky or thread that I missed please post it.

I know you said no box mods but MadVapes has a very easy box mod for sale cheap.
510 Box Mod Kit
$6.99. Might be good just for parts or to get the basic wiring idea down.

Madvapes also has instructions for making a mod from a cheap flashlight. Seems like a reasonable first step towards building tube mods. Check the "How To" section there.

Edit: Oh, and there is also an astonishing amount of stuff right here. Just look back at the older posts until you find something that blows your skirt up. If you check everything out (unlikely) and still want more, go to your User Control Panel, and change your thread display settings. They are likely set to default, so threads past a certain age aren't displayed. You can set it so all threads are displayed. I've been meaning to do it myself, just to dig through some of the really old stuff.
