Hi guys! Just had a few questions about rba's...let's start with the first, how much money can be saved from switching from cartos to rba's...i currently spend about 8$ on a pack of 5 cartos...and is it easy? Any dangers to it? I saw zen's video on how to do it and it looks relatively easy. Say i started out with a Genesis style, what would be the best materials, from what i've gathered so far it seems like mesh and kanthal wire...any advice/tips and tricks would be helpful...also some places to order the genesis style would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

As long as you have a nice stockpile of cartos/clearomizers/attys/ whatevers, to use while you are mastering the rba, tinkering with the rba, you will save tons of money... unless you decide you love it so much that you just have to get one of every new make and model that hits the shelves... then you'll be back in the poorhouse like the rest of us, but you will be set up for life, even against Zombies.

Depends on what juice you vape pg/vg ratio. They all use SS wick and you can oxidise it or not. I use 400 mesh in a mini cobra tank. I don't wrap my coils on it in the device - i do it with the wick in front of me.

The trick to all of it is how good you are at making coils and that is what takes practice. I will not tell you it is dead easy - my first few ended up across the room in irritation!

i use 32g kanthal wire. 150ft will run you maybe $10 on Ebay. A new wick and coil will cost pennies and i recommend making a few at a time as backups. What it does allow you to do, and this is the real point of any RBA's is to make a coil that is tailored to your device and vaping likes.

My only tip is to make sure you measure them first before using them. Nothing is worse than it shorting on the bottom of the tank etc.

It'll save $$ over the cartos, depending on how long those last for you. A mesh wick can last for a long time. If you want to use lower ohm coils, get some 28 or 30ga kanthal wire. For regular 2.2Ω and up coils use 32ga wire. Get an RSST which seems to be one of the cheaper genesis tanks around and easy to use (only one I have and it's easy to setup). Read up on which size mesh you should get. You might want to try a couple of different sizes. It's great if you like to tinker. If not, stick with the cartos and carto tanks.

The only issue with the RSST is that the top cap comes off rather easily and isn't one you'd want to go out and about with. For around the house it's great.

The previous poster has a great point! Be sure to check your coil for shorts!
