Hey y'all, I'm an ex-smoker who would like to go back to his old ways without messing up his health. I never was a huge smoker, I would smoke something like a pack a week. Now I only smoke 1 cigarette a week because I don't wanna quit completely since I love smoking tobacco... So, I'm thinking about buying an electronic cigarette. But the thing is, I'd like to try it before since I'm pretty sure it won't feel like smoking an actual cig... So what does it feel like? And how is it taste wise? What is the best brand? Thanks.

Big Thier:

You're gonna get a lot of answers of opinion here.

I like Cignot.com above all other suppliers. I use their JOYE 510 (no box version) starter kit....and their cappuccino juice.

Down to one smoke a week? I'd get 24mg or 36mg juice and some mix juice to weaken it. You'll have to decide what is best for you.

Now.......the experience. It is close to smoking a cigarette. Close enough the mind begins to ignore the differences. You'll never get two lungs full of vape like you could with a cigarette--but not bad.

Here's what I think you should do. If you got a Tobacco store near you, go in and look for an e-cig 'starter kit'. Don't pay more that $50 bucks and don't sign any agreement.

Take it home and try it.

Welcome Aboard!

The answers to each of your questions would be opinions. There is no best one. It feels like vaping. And the taste depends on the flavor you are vaping. None of the flavors will exactly match a burning cigarette because there isn't any burning!

Do you actually buy cigarettes now? It seems that if you only smoke one a week they would get horribly stale by the time you get to the end of the pack.

And if you only smoke one a week... I don't know that vaping would really be of benefit to you. Your choice of course!

If you want more information I suggest you read Wonderful World of Vaping. It is loaded with information. :)

Honestly, if you only smoke 1 cigarette a week I would suggest you do your best to cut that 1 cigarette out of your life and leave it at that (and by the way, congrats on getting yourself down from 1 pack a week to 1 cigarette a week).

With a once a week cigarette you are clearly not addicted to nicotine anymore, and it seems you're playing with fire by getting into vaping. You may wind up liking vaping more than smoking... next thing you know you could be back on a nicotine kick.

Obviously you're an adult and have every right to do what you want - not trying to tell you what to do. But if you're asking for advice... mine would be to not get into vaping at all.

EDITED TO ADD:
If you meant you want to try 0 nicotine liquid then that's a different story.
I just sort of assumed you meant nic liquid.

I agree with getting 0 nic juice if possible, if you simply like feel of smoking then that is the best route. I was in a similar position, also a fairly light smoker, but I opted for 6 mg liquid. If you treat vaping with respect and understand the risks of addiction, it can be a very satisfying hobby.

As for hardware, I'd recommend the joye 510. I chose the 510 because it vapes as close to a cigarette as you can get, nice thick vapor and lots of it. The main gripe about the model is battery life, but for the amount you'd be vaping it would be a non-issue. A $35 starter kit at cignot.com gets you 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 pre-filled carts and a wall charger, its quite the bargain. Best of luck with your decisions :)

May get flamed here but I wouldnt think that 1 cigarette a week would do anything to ya. Be like standin around a campfire for a lil while. What I mean is, if I could be satisfied with 1 cigarette a week I would have never started vaping. Now, Im not saying anything bad about vaping except that it IS a habit. You will not find anything here that tastes like an actual cigarette (like I said, I might get flamed) You can find liquid that tastes like tobacco however, but it will not taste like a cigarette.

I would take justsomeguy's advice and cut out that last cigarette and drop it all together or keep doing what your doing, I cannot imagine that 1 cigarette a week would do anything to your health. BUT...

If you do decide that this is what you want to do, please read the forum.. there is soo much information here. I would recommend a 510 with zero nic juice.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

I couldn't agree more, if I knew what I know now back then I would have never touched a cig, and if you can stop that one cig a week your better off then starting another habit. But if your really wanting to vape this is the place to learn about it.

Thanks y'all for the comments. Well, I forgot to say that I cut down to 1 a week because it was affecting my cardio too much (I'm a MMA fighter) but I REALLY miss smoking a cigarette whenever I feel like it... And I don't know if I'm "addicted" to nicotine, since I can do without it 6 days a week... But I always smoke it on Monday after lunch, and like an hour before i do, my heart starts beating fast and I'm really anticipating the moment... And I always make sure it's perfect: I put on some beat, have a juice... So yeah, I wanna get a e-cigarette so I can start smoking like 3-4 cigs a day again. And yes, I want some nicotine and a tobacco flavor, not a candy flavor. Thanks.

lol like most everyone else, i thought i just wanted tobacco flavor too...then i got other flavors....and others...and others...and now the tobacco is probably my least favorite.

Oh yeah! When I started I stocked up on all kinds of menthol since I used to smoke menthol. I don't like it! I vape just about everything else - particularly coffees and caramels and such. I think it is funny how our pre-conceived notions with vaping often turn out to be wrong.

Just like the original desire to have a PV that is the same size as and looks exactly like a cigarette. I would guess most of us start out with that concept but quickly discover that a bigger battery lasts longer and LEDs come in all kinds of entertaining colors!

So... if you do decide to try vaping, don't lock yourself into just one model or just one flavor! :)

I dunno. Even at 1 a week, I think I would still choose e-cig vs real smoke, mainly for the Zero MG nic.

But I have some friends like that, can smoke a couple on like a Satuday night, then never think about it again for months...I hate you .......s that can do that ;) That has burned me twice...ah maybe I'll just have one...

They say you never really get over smoking. Its like the nic does some pernament re-wiring of your brain. Im all for Zero NIC vaping, at the very least it calms the oral/hand fixation, and you can get outs socially with the smokers too.

Also, they told me at my local headshop that they don't sell it in Canada... So I'll have to order it on the net... Without trying out first... :S

Virtually all of us have to order online without trying first... My advice is to buy sampler packs in small sizes till you find what you like, and possibly read the reviews by other members (though everyone's taste is different!)

Good luck finding what you like! I've been pleasantly surprised so far, have tried about 25 different flavors from various vendors, and only 2 have been horribly bad to my taste (a cognac flavor and a menthol flavor).

If you do end up with stuff you don't like, there is a very active trading section here..
