Interesting Antifreeze Trivia

Now I know there's no bad Antifreeze in e-juice but I have an interesting bit of trivia about Antifreeze Overdose and it has nothing to do with vaping.

Anywayz, I'm a nurse and used to work in an ER and some kids(early teens) came in who drank what they thought was gatorade but was probably Antifreeze (ethylene glycol). And the remedy for Antifreeze Ingestion is Intravenous Alcohol (ethanol). I got to see these kids get drunker and drunker as Alcohol was dripped into their bloodstream. Very weird.

Kids turned out to be OK.

Some idiots store mixed antifreeze in things like pop bottles. Kids can be stupid but I doubt even they would start downing blue liquid out of a bottle labelled "antifreeze"!

so many people still presume that all anti-freeze is green and so would not think twice about a fluid of a different color. However there is a "rainbow" worth of different colors of extended life coolants now in use by different auto makers including red, orange, blue, green, gold, and even a purpleish. Fluids, especially toxic ones should always be stored in their original containers or CLEARLY LABELED.

Let this be a reminder to us vapers too, especially diy-ers, to keep our nic supply clearly labeled and safely stored.

I am a vet tech and the first clinic i worked in I found a drawer with a whole fifth of smirnoff vodka and I was like "is this treatment for a *really* bad day?" Ha ha.
Ethylene glycol poisoning can be fatal to your dogs and cats and i am told they think it tastes sweet... so make sure your radiators, etc don't leak it where they can lick it.

I'm a big "crime TV" watcher (it's my trash tv LOL) and I know that legislation has been passed (after about the 100th murder w/antifreeze via sweet tea, etc) to add a bitter taste agent to antifreeze because not only does it LOOK like gatorade, it tastes very sweet like gatorade as well. I don't go around murdering people, but I was glad to hear it because I know many pets are poisoned by leaking antifreeze. Although, I don't know if this would help since my dogs will eat some of the nastiest things LOL...

One would think that after all these years of chidlren, pets, wildlife being poisoned by antifreeze, that someone would have thought of this before.
