Every now and then I like to surf through the projects/ideas people come up with on Kickstarter.com and Indigogo.com just to see whats out there. I stumbled upon a "new" Smart E-Cig tonight called the Kosmo. It certainly isn't for the hardcore vapor but its an interesting kit that has some "smart" features that can help people monitor their usage and slowly wind down their nicotine levels over time.

At this point they are a little low on funding and for some reason they chose to go with a Fixed Funding (all or nothing) model instead of the Flexible Funding which would allow them to take whatever money they raise to put into the project.

It has some neat features like:

Locator feature (Bluetooth)
Android and iPhone app that tracks usage and other stuff (Bluetooth again)
Quit countdown if your intention is to ween off nicotine/cigs/ecigs entirely.
Ego style/510 threading
Variable Voltage
Variable Wattage
and other stuffs (There is a spec sheet towards the bottom of the page)

I thought some may be interested and want to check it out. I also wonder if people think a product like this can successfully come to market using something like Indigogo or Kickstarter campaigns considering the current onslaught the industry is facing right now.

The addy again is: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/kosmo-ecigarette

Note: I'm not related to or part of this project at all. Just passing on the info. :)

Meh...

CNC for an ego?
€50 for a 900mah VV/VW battery that only hits 9 watts and won't fire below 1.5Ω.
Kinda sounds like an APPLE product.

Nothing wrong with an Apple product IMO. Have owned a few of them over the years...quality built, great resale value, rock solid stability....hell, the longest I ever ran my OS X server without a reboot was seven and a half months....just can't do that with Windows..period..so the argument that Apple products are underpowered is....well....so far off base there is no measure..Just sayin ;)

But, back on track....I stated in the original post its not for the hardcore vapor, we have our DNA's, our Mechs or our Sig/Seven30's.... but for a quick pocket vape, newbies, or even tech/gadget junkies might find features like the smartphone app, cig equivalent usage tracking, social features and bluetooth locator (thats something I could use as I lose stuff regularly) some good.

The cigarette equivalence tracking is a feature that I find particularly interesting as it is an additional cessation tool for those trying to quit tobacco....particularly since opponents to ecigs seem to be in denial about the effectiveness of ecigs/vaping and cessation. If I thought it had a chance of successful funding AND if the battery were replaceable I might be tempted to toss one of my Aerotanks on it at $54 US for just the tube and app.

No thoughts on whether you think E-cig products have a chance of successful funding through means like Kickstarter/Indigogo in this political climate?

Are you asking if this American company can design, manufacture and distribute this small electronic device AND compete with China...
Not a bloody chance.
