So the FDA will take increased smoking as a result of decreased vaping.

As that is exactly what they are heading for. Youth smoking and other tobacco use will increase.

Yeah... It kinda seems like a Bass Ackwards approach. But one that the current FDA seems Committed to Pursue.

    From the article: "

The FDA’s Cecil at the GTNF was sceptical about mitigating potential risk through marketing plans that deter youth uptake, stating that “we do not believe that marketing restrictions alone…have sufficient ability to reduce youth initiation” and that they might not be implemented anyway."

Interesting. The FDA doesn't "believe that marketing restrictions alone…have sufficient ability to reduce youth initiation”.

So why was there a push to remove cigarette advertising from tv, magazines, radio, newspapers, and the Marlboro Man in Times Square? Why have age restrictions on buying cigarettes? Or alcohol?

If none of these things work, why bother?

This really is getting dumber and dumber.

He said alone. So that and more would be needed.

All this things you mentioned didn't stop youth smoking. So they won't stop youth vaping. They may have reduced smoking some though I doubt it. Higher prices (taxes) did more than anything. Youth have less funds available ($1.pack is ways, $2 not much harder, $10 a real hurdle for most). Bans on where you can smoke being #2, making it less visible in society.
Just look at the warnings added to old movies now, and how few smokers are in current movies/TV shows. (They do the inverse too, normalizing behaviors by constantly including it in movies/TV)

And nothing so far as stopped youth alcohol consumption. But I can buy all sorts of fruity drinks and mixers at the store.

But they seem to think they can magically stop youth vaping.
