Hey all,
I just started working on my first mod, a flashlight mod from an 8 LED flashlight with a 3 AAA battery compartment... I have tested it at each step and i have it wired right, but when i test it with the Atty using a AV cable jack (got a tutorial from somewere else here on ECF) as a 510 connector, the two LED's i left in the flashlight wont light up... if i disconnect the atty they glow very brightly, but as soon as the atty is connected, they stop shining... Now, when the Atty IS connected, after about 5-10 seconds, it does start crackling and poping, indicating to me that at least i haven't shorted it or miswired it...
Is this simply because the atty has too much draw to let the 3 AAA batteries power both the atty and the lights?
i am testing with the 3 AAA batteries because I want to make sure that i have the rigging done right before wasting precious money on a battery that i might not be able to use if i end up going a different way for my first mod.
If i'm right and everythign is good, once done i'll post pictures of the thing... i think its pretty damned cool... once i've tested my prototype model i'll go out and get another one of the flashlights and do up a cleaned up version of it... this version has extra long wires stuffed in everywhere and hot glue holding things in place (but not the atty)
