I know some members on here live in Australia , if you can get your hands on todays Herald Sun newspaper , there is a interesting article about e-cigarettes, anti smoking advocates are outraged that actor Johnny Depp used a e-cigarette in his recent hit movie 'The Tourist' . their argument is that young people will take up smoking of they see the likes of Johnny Deep smoking on the screen. PGM International is a Aussie based company who distributes the Elusion e-ciggie states it is a healthy alternative, and soon plan to register their product as a smoking cessation device with the Therapeutic Goods Administration . The e-ciggie is banned here in Victoria where I live but I can buy it online thank heavens . If you can try and read this article it is very interesting.

It would be against the law to test minors for taste preferences, but if we could, we would win the arguement that flavors in ecigs actually make real cigs taste awful in comparison ... which leads to no nonsense conclusion that ecigs do not ... and I repeat, do NOT ... lead to real cigs.

We're not allowed to officially test minors... yet the anti-humans .... insist they have indeed tested and know the outcome because they are adamant that they are somehow right on their assumptions.

If they have been forcing cigs on minors, then we need to hold them responsible!

i think its ridiculous how many people start an argument against ecigs. i havent been vaping long but i was a 2 pack a day marlboro smoker for 20 years. ive tried quitting with everything i do mean everything, heck even paid 450 bucks to be hypnotized. i was desperate. my will power is not the greatest and i have alot of stress triggers. but when i tried a joye 510 i was like....oh wow, this is amazing! then one day i got a joye ego and i was like, , woohoo now thats what im talking about! ive never looked back. its total crap to ban ecigs but allow analogs in circulation. and the whole kids issue is just bs. i mean they give out birth control at the high schools nowadays and they have to walk through metal detectors just in case someone brought a gun to school, teachers are having sex with students, kids are dealing drugs in grade school and killing each other over a pair of shoes......and they are worried about ecigs? i think they need to take care of the real problems and leave the adults to vape in peace

Yeah the arguments against ecigs are irrational at best, but it's inevitable. I think there probably is some genuine concern that ecigs might be dangerous or that they might appeal to minors (thanks mall kiosks). What people don't seem to get is that for smokers these don't need to be 100% safe, they just need to be safer than cigarettes. I for one fully support any testing anyone wishes to do on ecigs because I think by and large they can stand up to the scrutiny. The problem is that nicotine will never be labeled a "safe" product, so there will always be a reason to condemn these. Again, what they don't get is that we are already getting nicotine, we just want a safer way to get it.

I think here in the US anyway it most likely all boils down to the almighty dollar. The gov. gets tons of money from tobacco and pharmaceutical lobbyists and taxes on cigarettes. Any agency that proposes to ban ecigs but somehow finds it perfectly ok to sell cigarettes looses all credibility on the issue. All I need is the thousands of testimonials from former smokers about the benefits of switching to ecigs to let me know I am making the right decision.

Thanks for your comments, and I agree with you all, from this article , the AMA Victorian Branch President Dr Harry Hemley says Nicotine was one of the worst addictions you could have. So why people are against these e-ciggies, is beyond me, as you say it is probabaly all about Governments and money , think that is certainly the case here in Australia, at this stage I dont think I would be game enough to smoke these e-cigs in a non smoking area , as reckon I would get run out of town , no has ever heard of them where i live , my husband and friends think I have totally lost the plot, which doesnt help one little bit, but I will soldier on.

The problem is misinformation and Big Corp. That fda study condemmed all e liquid and they havent released an updated study. Now Big Corp is paying their lobbiests to get on the politicians using this information because they stand to loose ALOT of money. How much you wanna bet that if Phillip Morris came up with this idea there would be 0 talk of bans? Unfortunately some sellers and makers of the e cig also made a mistake in saying it can be used as a stop smoking aide. Well now you have Pharma Looking at loosing ALOT of money as well. Again if the makers of Nicoderm patch produced an e cig how much you think it would be banned??
