I think my phoenix ERA clone has an internal short. Even with no coil when attatched to a vamo it reads 0.1ohm and wont fire. A few times its had this problem then when it was recoiled/rewicked the problem was solved. Any suggestions on how to fix this/has anyone encountered this before? Its a shame, it works great when its working and looks slick, but its pretty frustrating to get this problem.

Sure sounds like a short to me. Are you sure it's the ERA clone, and not the vamo that's causing issues? On mine the center post sticks out a bit more than most heads, if you screw it down tightly it's possible the short is coming from the Vamo not the ERA clone.

If you unscrew the phoenix and check the resistance, does it say 9.9 as it should?

If so, screw it back down gently, just so that you can feel it's barely making contact with the vamo, then check the resistance again. If it changes at all (obviously with no coil) then you know there is a short in the ERA clone. If it doesn't show a change from 9.9 until you really torque it down, then you know it's the Vamo causing issues.

Yeah it reads the same short on the zmax v3 too. I noticed if I change the position of the center post on the ERA clone it will vary between 0.0 and 0.2. Im thinking maybe the gasket around the center post has problems which are leading it to not even sending a charge up the full post, its just traveling through the base itself.
