For those of you that just want a fast fix.... I was doing some electrical work on my car and realized that shrink wrap could work as an insulator..... I bought a variety pack awhile ago and had the perfect sizes to *double wrap up top, and leave it single where the pin goes through the 510 I didn't post this earlier because I wanted to check it out for myself and it's been almost a month now, and it works flawlessly!!! You don't have to shrink it precisely because you can use the top flat part of the pin to guide your razor blade shearing the excess off..... I don't have a picture of that because I didn't want to pull it back out, its a perfect fit..... and I could crank down on my rda w/o issue...... Give it a try, if you either don't want to wait for Paul or want to spend $5 for a grommet that might not even work.....?

This 510 pin... treated with shrink wrap is bullet proof.... TESTED!!

I hear ya there's only so many times I can ask for a plated positive spring... And hear I'll mail it out next Friday etc etc etc..... Sorry Paul but you know it's true.... We're all busy bud and it wasn't like you were forced to sell a mod .... I mean some if not most of us waited a couple of YEARS being told the SAME all along .... Next week, next month, next Friday???

Come on Paulie.... step up or shut the thread down! No more excuses.... I mean.... seriously?!

I mean how do I go about replacing the plated pos spring??? It isn't an ace hardware buy... Its definitely PROPRIETARY... and I don't know the first thing about tempering and plating copper so it doesn't snap trying to put a slight bend in it ..... Metallurgy doesn't interest me.

Problem is shrink wrap wont last, as the pin moves, you need derlin, peek or silicon

I respect your opinion.... But my experience with it, lasting a month with constant use..... I think it's a good OPTION (not a permanent fix) if you double up the wrap at the top of the head of the pin to just under it .... The thickness and rigidity is superior to any rubber grommets I've seen (even the ones I was hacking off of my old cartomizers) ...... When you shrink wrap the pin it's not slipping off, if done right .... So I really don't see why movement of the 510 should effect it?

I'm just saying if we have to guess on a peek grommet and pay $5, $6 per,. this is the way to go... Until an exact match can be found.....it seems pretty stable to me ?!?

Point is a fix shouldn't HAVE to be found, period. The right material should of been sent out in the first place in the mod or rectified within a fashionable manner. No offense to the ones who have been trying to fix this cause I appreciate that, I just don't have the knowhow or means. And if Im honest here, I didn't buy this mod to tinker.

IMHO he has left a lot of folks with a mod that's been a real disappointment

I for one have not been disappointed with it.

I've used it exclusively since I got it, June 23 (2 full months now).

I finally blew a fuse the other day, not because of the insulator though. (I shorted the atty while dry burning a wick/coil. Bumped the metal on the lighter to both posts while firing)

My ONLY complaint is the busted magnet I had when it arrived that still has not been replaced (was going to be sent with some other stuff he was working on, like the negative terminal). I'd just buy one if I could find a source for the right one, but I've not managed to find a magnet with a counter sunk hole they right diameter.

I havent tinkered with it as i seldom have time but it is quite the bummer to have bought what has turned out to be a paperweight.

Hyperbole much?

I fail to see how the mod I've used exclusively for 2 months is a paperweight.

What color? I might take it and any remaining spare parts off you hands.
(or list it in the classified and PM me a link)

I'm with you when I purchased had no idea I was getting a non working mod and I still have not be sent the spring (did not have one in my extras) I was told that would ship months ago and my fuse was blown when I received. Wasted $100 that has not even had an atty attached yet.

Waste $100 because you won't put in included screw in the existing hole? Less time than changing a coil.

I'll extend the same offer. Depending on color I'll buy it. May not get the full $100 back but better than nothing.

My only BF mod and I could use a spare it two.

That's not the point. If the expectation was a working mod, as it was always stated. Regardless of price. One should NOT have to "tinker" with it to make it work; no matter the time it takes to do so.

This has always been the most humorous thread ever generated on the ole ECF. It has provided years of endless humor. It will go down in the all time annals. Nothing even remotely close.
Hyperbole much?

At best it's the 3rd most humorous thread on ECF!

You say your not disappointed but yet you and I and many others have been told numerous times that the part which is a mymod exclusive like the plated spring or a magnet will be mailed out next week or next Friday until it turns Into 4 months is the disappointment. The disappointment is in the missing negative connection, the grommets that fail and we don't have dimensions for.......or the peek screws ... Where do I find these parts???

The mod is serviceable that's not the point it's the failing to follow up with promises..... to mail out minor parts that I don't know where to find or I wouldn't even be on here talking about this.... having to shrink wrap my 510 pin ...... My mod is working flawlessly at the moment until it doesnt .....then what...... Another pm explaining Paul went back to school and is working on his dissertation and it'll be another week as that turns into 4 weeks etc, etc.... OR that he's working on another mod which took priority (yeah, that actually happened) ......disappointment.

I defended him and the mod but come on....enufs enuf...I'll pay for the padded envelop and shipping.... I'll even pay for the part?? ...!!!

I said spring in previous post meant screw I didn't receive but was told it was coming and it was obvious there was an issue as my fuse was blown before I received it so it had to have been tested and obviously failed but still sent.

I agreed to wait for the part not realizing how long it would take.

Paul hasn't logged in since before my last message to him, when I asked for the magnet instead of waiting (wanted to get it before I left for Afghanistan).

Plenty of other mods out there with "proprietary" parts and difficulty getting them. Many of them costing hundreds. Lots of those made by people that disappear for weeks.

It's obvious Paul bit off more than he was ready to handle. That was clear before money was ever sent.

But I'm not disappointed with the mod and it's certainly not a paperweight. Disappointed in Paul's lack of communication and service, but not the mod.
