Good money after bad to attempt a fix IMO.

That would be true if it results in an unusable mod.
Thru. the dealings I've had with Catfish. When he said the re-engineered MyMod is solid; then it's solid.

Since mine works fine I haven't played much.

Someone claimed success using the insulator from pro-tank/evod style tanks. I just haven't pulled mine apart to test.
That's fine.
I'm collecting EOTWAWKI mods though.

There cannot be a question.

Especially on the wife's mod. (This one)

If you go back, I've been mulling the idea of drilling/tapping the shell for a while.

I just don't have the right tools.

Gave in had Tom make me an insert w/ VT threads. Just changed the 510. I'm fine with the fuse and ground screw.

ive got a VT 510 i think i can have a friend of mine help me do the machine work to get it in there.did he just turn the 510 down to the same size as the other insert?if so im gonna be happy...soon!does it come apart or is it permanantly in there...by the looks of the set screw it looks removable.

No, Tom made a new shell threaded for the VT 510.

Like I wanted too do with the existing shell. But I couldn't do the work nor easily get the exiting shells to him.

New shell installs like the old one, then the VT threads in too that.

edit: here where I first mentioned drilling and tapping the shell, back in June.
Soon after I bought a FDV connector and a drill/tap combo to try it.
All of the BF 510 assemblies I've seen are threaded M10 (1.0 or 0.5). The hole for Paul's shell is bigger than that.

I think the shell could be drilled and tapped. Have to work out electrical connection.
