Would it be setup on a board or would the parts be wired together ?

I'm thinking a module with wire leads (with electrical connector) that the user can screw down onto the copper terminals and can be removed if necessary.

I didn't use the DNA because its dimensions are not compatible with my design. The DNA is also costly and has many features I think most mech bottom feeders can do without. Most bottom feeder just want simplicity and reliability.

Very cool, I was curious about the cost of a dna chip vs. The cost of the required electronic components. I am assuming it's a fraction. Cost plus the ability to position components is a win win. Personally I think the display of the dna's is crap too, but I dunno what is in the same ballpark price wise.
Are you planning on having it be vv or straight up full powered down to 3.7v or a set voltage as long as the battery can sustain it?

Thanks for getting back to me, I'm a fan!

Those are 3d printed plastic, with DNA 30 chips, pretty cool , you gotta buy the parts n build it yourself. ..prolly 250 bucks out the door..

Printed Mechanical Bottom Feeder Mod
I don't think it's that much but shapeways is having problems putting out the parts that make up the shell sizing issues...... The outer shell is like $75 plus inner housing $35..... Hardware and another $30 plus Dna30 chip $30-$40......approximately $150-$180 from what I remember, but you have to follow all these links to get all the parts or get in on the group buy? I Dunno I think it's worth it if you like to tinker, which I do..... I just haven't had the time to do all shopping. It's really not a bad price! Gdeal the OP is definitely a good guy.... He can't be making much money off of the design?

He's a really cool guy and he's smart too ! I'm a fan I haven't ever held one, and I could be wrong but I don't like the looks of the internal housing, but that's pure speculation and I'm racist against plastic, I wish their metal printing was on point but problems there too.. it's a bottom feeder and it's hot a DNA 30 in it so b it's definitely a badasszz mod.

Hasn't been much activity in here lately. Any new info for us?

I'm currently refining the mod based on the suggestions people have given me here and through PM. I will post it once it's available. People seem to want a bigger firing button, a low voltage drop, multiple color options, and regulated voltage.

I'm all in for everything but the regulated part. I hope you have a regulated and purely mechanical version.

Sounds good. Can't wait to see what's in store. The fact that you want this to be user serviceable is a huge selling point for me even with the regulated module. From what I understand we would be able to remove it if we dont want it or it stop fail and the mod would still function correctly (much like a kick). That's the one thing that I'm hesitant about when it comes to vv/vw mods. If the chip goes out you're f'ed and out whatever you spent on it hundreds in most cases. At least with this you can take it out and everything still works. More modders should think like you!

Depends whether the "chip" (actually a board) in there is something proprietary or whether it's something you can buy on the open market; in the latter case, you might even stock some spares. E.g. I have several DNA mods and a some spare DNA boards just in case.

Aren't you both right...... Isn't DNA a chip set?
