How does a spring on the bottom versus straight grounded affect voltage? For example a reo vs tmod
Electrical takes path of least resistance. If it's bonded to the mod directly it is a shorter path versus the spring itself that is in turn bonded to the mod. Shorter path, less components equals harder hitter and less voltage drop.

Hard to tell. I mean he's essentially running the same positive contact as a reo and a spring that has yet to be decided so I would speculate it will hit exactly the same as a reo. I just received a Tmod a couple days ago and haven't had time to use it, sadly, but looking at it I think it will perform just like everyone says and hit hard. Tom told me it's built to be a hard hitting, high amperage device. I hope this helps some.

You are asking does a spring introduce more resistance to a circuit - well of course it does.

There is no spring in a Tmod. No protection. No babying. I'm not on planet earth to sell you anything, however if you're new to the mechanical mod game - anything that offers you some protection - like a collapsing spring in a Reo, or a fuse in Paul's mod might just save your batteries and skin.

When someone asks something like 'it'll hit like this ....' i really think you missed the brief. To me (and i'll shut up in a moment) the entire point of a mechanical mod is total control over it, but that means that the things i dislike about my vape are also all my fault.

I think the fuse is a pretty cool idea. It combines my love for cars with my mechanicals. Protection anywhere you get it is a good thing. Tmod aside, I would gladly sacrifice a little battery life for some degree of protection. Batteries are cheap but medical bills are not. Do you own a Tmod by any chance? Just wondering how it is.

I was more so wondering how much of a difference as I know adding more path for the power to travel will reduce production if that makes sense.

So this mod will hit the same as a reo but softer than a tmod?

very likely

this is a price point + safety device, not a high performance mod. given the price point, it is more a competitor to somewhere between the chinese squonkers and reos, and it should hold up well in that bracket with berrylium copper contacts etc

The voltage drop between having a spring fitted and not having one at all is rather small, usually in the order of 0.0X where X=something.

If we assume a perfect scenario where you have a perfectly cleaned mod, perfect charger and batteries, the instant you fire it your vape will then be worsening.
I liken it to dinner with the mother in law.

bottomfeeder: yes i own a Tmod, it's my all day device - a role it has usurped from one of my Reos. How is it?

It's not fiddly, it needs cleaning maybe (maybe) once a month and it's rock solid. But it's expensive. Not everyone can be a pwofessionaw vaper in a world of 200W box mods. I went a different way.

Perfect. Just the testimony I wanted to hear. Can't wait to put the manta atop this good looking mod.

Manta - well yeah. The mod will not disappoint you. We just have different tastes in atties.

There's a similar feeling i get here - the mod is out of sight good, so any 'i cannot get a good vape from it' really has to be user error (idleness in my case).

T
The thing is I don't even know if the manta is my thing as I haven't even received it yet. I have a derringer clone that is nice but as far as 22mm attys go that is it:the derringer. I've been using a 14mm atty on my reo that suffices. What attys are your "go to"? I vape higher pg/vg ratios, 65/35 respectively and higher ohm(between 1 and 1.3 ohm. Also, single coils are all I like. It preserves battery life and juice consumption and I'm just not a cloud chaser at all, strictly TH. What do you recommend given that criteria? Thanks for the help.

i'd be hard pressed to recommend against what HRH uses and that's RM4's (Atomics) but at maybe 1Ω.

RM2's are my go to ( i once owned 14, so i rate them). Your juice ratio makes me smile, because i never saw or could tell the difference between any of them!

I run a high vg juice, but Texas just about now is 80f at night and i curse a lot.

RM2's are the exact one I'm running on my reo right now. My juice ratio was one of the first ones I tried and never felt a need to change it. I'm 100% satisfied with it so no reason to change it. Who is HRH by the way?

That pretty much sums it up. The mod is designed to be affordable and user friendly. The price is around $100, which I believe offers the best "performance to price ratio" out there. This is the first mod I build, so I went the basic route. I agree with super trunker in that the voltage drop between having a spring fitted and not having one at all is rather small, most vapers wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
