Hello all. Found this forum watching a video on youtube. But what led me here? Well, my battle with smoking is an interesting one. I am 39 years od, have been smoking since I was 15, and have quit twice, once for 6 months, and once for 3. But other than that, been a very steady smoker for a whole lot of years. Nothing made me quit. The price going from about $1.15 a pack when I started to where it is today has not made me quit. Having Asthma has not made me quit. Everytime I get sick now, on top of whatever I have, I get bronchitis because of my asthma and my smoking. My asthma does not affect me in any other way other than making me sicker when i am sick. I do not suffer asthma attacks, it does not affect my daily life.

I watched my mother die a very painful death, a 7 year battle with enphasemia, watched my father die from pancreatic cancer, that took 3 weeks from diagnosis till death. Again, none of that made me quit smoking. Then something happened about 3 months ago. I smoke Newports. My cigarettes were different all of a sudden. They taste like crap, and they make me feel like crap. They I learned why. FSC cigarettes. Fire Safe Cigarettes. I could not believe they went and totally changed the smoking experience. They really made me sick. I had chest pains, pains in my ribs, sinus congestion. The smoke shop I visit regularly has set aside every pack of menthol cig that is non FSC for me.

But yes, FSC has made me seek alternatives. FSC has really made me want to have nothing to do with cigs anymore, but I can't quit. I tried making my own, but man I smoke too much to devote that kind of time daily to cigs. Takes too long to sit there and make them. So that is not an option. Then i heard Jose Conseco on Howard Stern, and went to that site. But all weekend I have been researching everywhere, and now its led me to here. I am planning on making an order tomrrow, from Puresmoker, and I really really hope it helps me get off tobacco.

A question I have, that i have not really seen talked about. If you treat the e-cig like an analog, and take about as many drags as a normal analog, in the normal amount of time it would take to smoke an analog, are you satisfied for the same amount of time afterwards? I escape from work about every 2 hours for a smoke, but after about 3 - 4 hours without one, I am really feeling it, and need a smoke. Do you get the same amount of nicotene satisfaction after finishing the e-cig for that session?

I am so gald I found this place. I did so much reading this weekend. So many options. lol. Was gonna order tonight, but I might as well wait and see if there is anything new tomorrow on Puresmoker before I order.

Welcome, Badaxe..
I smoked like you over 20yrs....didn't plan to quit either just wanted to try these e-cigs out..
Then in a relaxed way, ordered from Puresmoker a pen & DSE901 + extra carts and wow..never thought I would quit!
If you don't pressure yourself into thinking "have to quit" and just get into all the quirks & experiences of e-cigs it happens naturally..
Now, 4 months later..no more cigs, got into e-liquids for topping , reusing carts , learning these great flavors to play with and no more real cigs "analogs"..
Relax, learn, read & you might have found a very painless way to finally stop cigs..
Good luck!

Welcome again Badaxe. I also smoked like you for 30 years, only without the health problems. My dad died of lung cancer. I did quit after that for 3 months but slowly went back.

One month after getting my 901 i'm almost to the stage where i don't want an analog. I do still get the odd thought of trying one again. Haven't yet, if i do it won't be a big deal.
I work in an office and would have to go outside every two hours or more to have a smoke. My boss lets me vap in the office and now the only time i go outside is if i forgot to get something out of my car.
As for the question on nicotine. I think i vap more often than i would smoke but it's 4 to 5 drags then put it down for 15 minutes. So i think i get a fairly consistent feed of nic.
Last Friday the wife and i went to our kids high school and sat in the gym for 5 hours and watched 4 basketball games. In that time i never really felt the need to go outside. I sometimes wonder if it is some of the other chemicals in analogs that have more effect than the nicotine. If for any reason i can't vap it isn't as much as an issue as it was if i couldn't smoke.
It is a different buzz than analogs. Yes i think i have overdone it a little on occasion but nothing that needed a trip to the er or doctor. I started with high nic carts and juice. My last order was some med (16mg) Riskee from puresmoker. I'm planning one more order of med tnen i'm going to try low for a while.

I think misty pretty much nailed it too. Don't pressure yourself, that'll never work. Take your time choosing your first ecig. Email steve at puresmoker, or any of the other good suppliers recommended on the forum. They will help you choose one that is right for you.

Good luck, look forward to hearing how it works out for you.

Welcome, Badaxe...

I to was a 20 year + smoker and started on e-cigs at same time as UkUsa, I have tried patches (rubbish) the silly inhalor and gum and every day was hell  This is the first time have stopped without those horrible withdrawal symptoms and thinking about them all the time! Many people don`t even intend to give up and it just happens! As stated don`t push yourself just see what happens, I still crave the odd analog sometimes (vary rarely) usually when I have a beer or i`m stressed but other than that never think about them and wife is still smoking. About the usage I vape more than I did smoke, like UkUsa says I think it a different experience I will never have it out of my hand when on computer, but I don`t bother when walking dog say or outside like I did with analogs, and at work I just use the same as I did smoking putting it down between uses.

Good luck and keep us informed of how you doing :)
