Introduction: Hello Everyone

I'm very new to this, having just started a little over a month ago. The decision was made the day I woke up coughing so fiercely that my kids tearfully asked me if I was going to die. That certainly grabbed my attention. I've tried quitting before (including every time my husband deploys, in an attempt to minimize the inevitable conflicts once I've lost my mind) and have always failed miserably. My husband and I finally concluded that I am a wickedly evil beast (though he used a slightly different term) without my nicotine, and that neither one of us likes me very much in that state. Even with nicotine replacement, I missed the habit and grew extremely cranky. This is the only thing that's worked. I can already tell that it's probably going to become an expensive hobby for me, but that's fine. I'm just glad to be able to breathe again. I'm an information junkie, so I find this forum extremely appealing.
I look forward to interacting with all of you. :toast:

HiYa Val, welcome to ECF! You may find that in the short term vaping becomes very expensive, while you search for your favourite system and juice. Long term once you settle (and there is lots to try!) you should find your way back into the black and even if you don't, what price can you put on your health? I think vaping gives whole loads of us folk who enjoy the physical act of smoking a second chance where we can enjoy our pastime without making everything around us stink, or harming those around us with second hand smoke. And the flavours! Glad you joined us, jump right in :)

Hello, and congratulations! I'm fairly new to this as well, but loving it. Being able to continue the habit and avoid the inevitable crankiness while improving my health is just amazing. For me the crankiness itself tended to cost me money. I'm an auto technician, and a bad attitude leads to poor diagnosis and broken parts which causes less production and more anxiety...it's a cycle. Anyway, congratulations again, and good luck on your continued success!

Thank you for the warm welcome :)

I'm certainly having fun with the experimenting, at least with the juices. I can't branch out much in the PV area for a while as per my husband's request that we go through the stages together. He made the switch with me and likes to take his time when formulating opinions. He's still in the "having fun, OMG I shaved a minute off my run time!" stage, so what we started with is what I've got for the time being. In the meantime, I shall bombard him with all that I learn here.

Renrav thank you for the congratulations! I was so excited when I completed my first week and hadn't broken a single thing or bitten anyone's head off. Every time I tried quitting before I ended up cutting myself off from everything and just locking myself away in my room with a stack of books, which meant the house grew cluttered, which makes me insane to begin with. All the way around a bad situation. Now I can operate normally (normal for me at least haha) and everyone is happier.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the switch! Your story is quite familiar to many people here -- not always the circumstances, but certainly the results. For most of us here, E-cigs have been the only thing that worked for us even after trying many, most, or even all of the other alternatives.

I think you'll do just fine -- you'll probably even enjoy vaping, and you won't have to turn into any wickedly evil beast. :) It may turn out to be expensive in the short term as you explore the hardware and juice to find the things that suit you best, but it's very, very easy to reach a point where you like what you've got and can cut your monthly expenses down to just a few bucks a month with barely any effort. :)

Thank you! I already definitely enjoy vaping :) I must admit that I am looking forward to being able to cut costs. As of right now I console my inner miser by reminding myself that so far, it's cost less than our previous cigarette budget. We'd burn through a carton in about 3 days, and at $40 a carton, well . . . that's equal to our car payment every month lol. I am glad to have stumbled across this place, as I have found it to be a veritable goldmine of information. You guys rock! I truly think that being here will enable me to find my perfect set up much more quickly than if I had tried to bumble through the process alone. :D

I have no doubt that will be the case. And yes, even with the buying frenzy that usually ensues early on (and then again if/when you want to step it up to a mod of some sort) it almost always still comes out far cheaper than cigarettes do even in the short term. And where I am cigarettes are $80 a carton, so that's even more true around here. :) I spent close to $600 on stuff in July and August and am about to drop another $300 on DIY supplies this month and it's still way cheaper than I would hav spent on cigarettes in the last few months. Plus once i have my DIY supplies I'm set for many, many months. :)

Welcome Val and Snakefarm
You have done the best thing possible for yourself and loved ones ! I am coming up on 21 days since an analog cig !
I have found a couple of vendors that I like and love my Riva 510 SE. As far as juices you can try all kinds of samples when you order hardware. I love Crystal Clear Vaping fast free shipping USPS. liberity-flights.com is where I bought my Riva's.Loved the so much that I bought another pair for my brother-n-law.He is excited and weening of analogs also.My brother is showing interest as well yippee!

Good luck to you both !

Make sure you buy samples with your order saves wasting money on something you have no idea what it tastes like. You can put it in the notes at Crystal Clear Vaping as he dosn't advertise 5ml samples on his website yet but carries them.:vapor:
