Hey,

I'm a new member here and I just started vaping (I love it :) ). I guess my story is an oft-repeated one around here. I'd been smoking for a decade and recently had a few failed quit attempts due more to pressure from close family than any real desire to quit. I was worried in the back of my mind about all the health & cost issues but I could always squash those worries coz I really loved to smoke

Was smoking and talking to a friend a few days ago and telling him about the strife I was getting and the conflict in my mind & he told me I needed an e-cigarrete. I laughed at the time but the idea grew on me and nagged at my mind over a couple days. Then I was talking to another friend yesterday morning & when I mentioned the idea to her she said her sister had been given a few of those and never used them or even opened the packaging & she was sure I could have them if I wanted. So we went and got them then and there. So that (like a lot of folks I guess) is how I started vaping, with a few regular flavour, 16mg/ml biggish analog-a-like disposables. One of these disposables is still my current PV. No, I am not ashamed, you gotta start somewhere and if it wasn't for the kindness of that friend I would still be on the rolling tobacco ;)

I was surprised how good it was (it must be alright cause I haven't rolled one of my downright dangerous little homemade analogs since I started on the PV yesterday, nor have I wanted to & I had no intention whatsoever to quit smoking that day). I could however see some drawbacks. None of my friends had actually tried out a PV of any kind though so that was when I turned to the internet for more information and found this site at which point I was both delighted and annoyed. Delighted because of the friendly site and wealth of information but annoyed that I hadn't bothered to do the research earlier! So now I'm looking forward to a future that definitely includes vaping but definitely doesn't include smoking and I'm waiting for an eGo and some liquid to be delivered

Many thanks for the warm welcome I have received and to everyone who contributed to my quick "which way to go" question thread.

Cheers, ethnobot.

Hi ethnobot - welcome. And well done so far.

Like you i used to smoke rollies (gold. virg). Bought a lower end e cig and stopped right away.

I think the filling and bits of messing around you have to do to keep your e cig running actually help if you've smoked rollies as the whole roll up making thing was almost a ceremony....lol

With an "ego" on the way i can see that you're serious about this. You will love it. Very good piece of well made kit.

My only problem is that when the disposables I was given run out I calculate that I'll have nearly a week to wait for the eGo & disposables seem really expensive round here. I want to order some e-liquid anyway so I'm strongly considering adding a less flashy (& cheaper) rechargeable PV to the order (which will come before the disposables run out if the shipping times I've looked at are accurate). Is this idea crazy? I just really don't want to smoke analogs when I could be vaping, even for a few days.

Thanks for the suggestion :)
I think if the basic idea isn't crazy though I might choose to go with a 901 and a few cartomizers. The reason for this is that when I get my eGo it will fairly bulky for a PV and I may well put a drip-tip on it which I wouldn't want so much when out & about (from what I've read, correct me if I'm wrong). So, since a quick-ordered e-cig would only be my main means of vaping for just over a week at the most, it seems less of a waste of money to get something smaller, lighter & the easiest to use so that it would still have a good niche role (for traveling & walking round town) when I get the big one ;)

Ethno, why is your eGo going to take a week to get to you? Guessing you must have ordered it from China?

The mini 901 isn't a bad kit (I actually prefer the 901 attie to 510's) but if you want a smaller e-cig than the eGo you have ordered, why not go for a standard 510 & it will be compatible with your eGo.

Nope, I didn't order from China but my cousin's friend has one that he received as an unwanted gift and is still new boxed. He's willing to give it away so my cousin's getting it for me and posting it from the US (I'm in the UK). Including going to get it and finding time to pack it up properly this process is gonna take him 7-10 days he reckons to err on the side of caution. I can't complain too much as I'm getting an eGo kit for reimbursement of postage which should be under £5 sterling :)

Is the regular 501 much smaller and lighter than the eGo then? If it is that would make sense especially if carts, atties and cartos are all cross-compatible. I just thought it would only be a little smaller and that a 901 or something like it would be much smaller, just suffer from worse battery life.

Plus - almost forgot I found at least one deal with fast UK shipping at no extra cost on a 901 kit (with cartos)

No problem Ethno :) You should get a couple of 510 atties with the eGo skit that is being sent to you anyway :) Plus it's easier to find 510 cartos from Uk sellers than 901 cartos.

Yeah from the description it's the older style of eGo with the "cone" thingy but comes with 2 unused 510 atties. Oh, and I also quite fancy trying out Boges cartowise which are certainly easier to find in the 510 spec :)
