Introduing Myself :)

Hello all,

I'm Jennifer. I live in NC, USA. I'm a 36-year-old single mom of an almost-14-year-old son (where does the time go?!). At any rate, I'm not necessarily new to vaping. I did it in 2010 (with SmokeStik) for two months exclusively. I had some rough patches in my life that knocked me off the wagon, and I was back on analogs again. But... now I'm trying again (and with a much better device!). The main reason I joined here is to have some support, because I REALLY WANT TO QUIT SMOKING ALTOGETHER, but the more pressure I put on myself, the worse I do. I don't care if I vape for the rest of my days, but I want to quit smoking. I am hoping I'll find some encouragement and support here. Right now I'm down to 10-15 analog cigs a day (was 20-30 cigs a day), so I've cut my smoking in half, I guess.

As for vaping device, I am using an Atmos Ole "pen" and as for my fave flavor (so far), I mix Strawberry Mint with tobacco Leaf juices ... tastes as close to a Newport as I can find (that's right; I am hard core! lol)...

So Hello everyone!! Glad to be part of this group!

Jennifer

Welcome to the forum, Jennifer. Don't hammer yourself over the head about smoking. Instead, concentrate on your vaping, your equipment, your juices, and of course, the support of all on here. I guarantee that getting the right setups, which is half the fun of vaping, you will find yourself smoking less and less, and maybe even find you don't even WANT the smokes. Any help or questions you need with, don't hesitate to ask. We are with you :)

Welcome, Jen! There are a lot of us here who can absolutely relate! When I made the switch I had the same thought. I'll vape forever if I can just get off the analogs. Well, 5 years later, I'm still vaping and not smoking! It CAN be done!
As for hardcore? I think more than a few of us were adamant about sticking to flavors that mimicked what we were used to. Eventually for me, curiosity and boredom won out and now I hardly ever touch tobacco flavors... too many interesting options out there for me now!

Either way, we're here for you! Don't worry about how many cigs you smoke a day, rejoice in the number of cigs that you DON'T smoke a day!! You'll get no judgement from us!

Good Luck, and Happy Vaping!!!

First, welcome to ECF!

As for your desire to stop smoking, I can only tell you what worked for me. I smoked and vaped for the first two days, cutting back each day. On the third day I told myself I could vape all day long if I wanted to, but no smoking. After dinner on that third day I went out to the porch (never smoked inside the house) and lit up. I took two drags, gave me an instant headache and tasted terrible!! Haven't had one since.

Everybody is different; some can stop right away, some it takes a little time.

I hope you find what works for you!

Hello and welcome Jen! Glad you decided to join us here at ECF. I come here because the support is so great as are the people. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them and share any experiences you have as well. They can be very helpful to other members who may have the same situation going on. I'm glad you found something you like to vape with and on. Congrats on getting the number of cigs down, that's a huge step.

When I started I had ordered a starter kit that was taking forever to come in so I bought a carton of cigs. As fate would have it the starter kit came in while I was on pack number 2. I started vaping right away as well as smoking. It took me over 2 weeks to finish that carton which was unheard of, lol, and when I finished it I didn't smoke any more cigs as I didn't really want to buy them. I vaped right through the cravings as best I could and before I knew it a month had passed, then 3, then 6, and now I'm 18 months cig free. I admit I changed my cig-a-like in for an eGo 1000mAh battery and then went on to get passthroughs, a Vision Spinner 1300mAh, an iTaste 3vv, a MVP2, a VTR, a Provari 2.5, a Vamo 2, and after a little over a year started in on mechs and rebuildables. I mention this because that's how I progressed through my vaping experience. It was the help I received here on ECF that allowed me to research these items to find what was best for me at the time.

I wish you the best and hope to see you around here in the forums!

I tried an enjoy king e-cig last year. It was cool for the first 1-2 hours then the starter kit cartomizer ran out and I was back to the store.

Me: "hello. I will take a box of the enjoy cartimizers please"

Clerk: "okay, that will be $20 + tax"

Me: "Pack of Marlboro lights please"

And that was it for a while until my girlfriend dragged me into a vape store a few weeks back. After taking a few laps around the tasting wheels I bought a eGo started kit and have not looked back. Actually I had two packs at the time and gave them both to my buddy, but I tried to smoke one first and it tasted like dirt. I couldn't even finish it. I think a lot of that was attributed to getting a flavored tobacco e-juice. Now that is all I crave.

Good luck with your journey and welcome!

I did the same thing you are doing. I tried the cigalikes a couple years ago only to find that they did absolutely nothing to curb my cravings. I decided to try again this time with a Boge carto tank and an ego twist. I immediately went from 1 1/2 ~ 2 pks a day to maybe 5 single cigarettes a day. Now it has become a hobby to me, buying and trying the latest in technology and rebuilding all of my own coils, all without a hint of craving for analogs!

You're definitely on the right path! Keep it up and GOOD LUCK!!!

Welcome, Im a 37 year old total vape newbie that has smoked analogs for 25 years and have vowed to quit completely or try something else. In the few days I have vaped
I have only had 4 analogs which is down from 20+ a day. The best part for me so far is trying out new flavors of juice whereas I was smoking the same ole analogs and stuck with the solo yucky flavor. I have spent alot of money the past week but it will be cheaper than analogs in the long run and better for my health as well. Good luck and Happy Vaping!

(I've not gotten the hang of the quick reply. Apparently, it doesn't post just below the comment to which I was responding! I catch on quickly, though, so never fear. :)

Hello jen. Im new to the forum myself but googled it probably a hundred times in the past. But my experience was a lil different. I tried to just replace my marlboros with an e cig same flavor and all. Long story short didnt work. Tried again this time with a fruit flavor and a vanilla custard thing and six months later I havent had one cigarette and dont miss them at all. Hope it helps

As a 30+ year smoker of 2-3 packs a day. Over the years trying and trying to quit (Most I went was a month). Once I found out about vaping I got myself a nice set-up and never looked back. The important thing is to get yourself over the "Hump" of the cravings. Although I do still have 24-36mg nic in my liquid so it made my transition easier. Now vaping is a hobby and whenever I run into someone smoking the smell repulses me. I just take my Silver Bullet out and take a nice huge hit and walk away with a smile on my face.

I hope to find time to respond to each individual comment here. I feel very warm and fuzzy with all of the welcoming comments! Right now, I've had a long week, so I'm vegging out and catching up on some TV (priorities, right? lol) and trying to relax. Just wanted you all to know I'm grateful for your support and encouragement! I will definitely be hanging out here a lot. :) Over the last couple months, I've kind of lurked around here anyway. Not to mention the googling I've done has landed me here quite often as well. I'm glad to finally have registered here! Seems like it is at least one good decision I've made in my life! :p

    ~Jen

    P.S. I've only had 4 analog cigs today! :D
