In TC mode you don't have a wattage option, unless I'm missing something here...don't think so though.

I played with various temps between 350-500 degrees and same with joules, just couldn't get it to perform as desired in any setting, the coil is a tight micro and that could be my problem, I'm hearing TC likes spaced coils...I'll have to give it another shot. For now I went back to my old build and it's perfect for me, nice and warm with thick flavorful vapor, it's gonna be tough to surpass.

In NI200 Mode spacing out the coil wraps is crucial(in order for the heat to be dispersed evenly across the entire coil) for it to work properly. In TI mode titanium doesnt react the same way as NI & you don't have to space the coils. So if you are using NI & not spacing your coils that could definitely explain the lack of performance.

TruSound,
When I did my TI200 build I just used a coil winder set to 2.5mm Then expanded the wraps(pulled) and matched the width of Both. *Dual Coil Orchid.

Best use of a compressed coil seems to be bump heating to allow a slight natural expansion gap of the coils to break contact.

A simple spread coil can be accomplished by wrapping 2 pieces at once and unscrewing the two apart. This will set perfect gaps.

Boldvape in uk posted this

PRE-ORDER *UPDATE*:We expect stock to arrive with us around 7th August (subject to change).

I found this on vapesource:

Discussions with Pioneer4you has confirmed shipment have been sent out on 07/25/2015 from ShenZhen, China. Should be arriving soon with an ETA of early August.

So who knows who will get it first I'm thinking it will strongly depend on which vendor you used.

Ok, I'll add a bit to that for those who might like to know the details! Ni needs to be spaced because, unlike kanthal or Ti (see below), it doesn't form an electrically insulating oxide layer on its surface. So touching Ni coils must either be touching along their entire length (which is difficult to achieve) or they need to be spaced to prevent hotspots which in turn result in spurious resistance readings and therefore poor TP behaviour. Ti is slightly different. It has a very thin oxide layer which is why it is so chemically inert. For best results with touching coils, this oxide layer needs to be beefed up with a controlled dry pulse. The wire will first turn yellowish and then blue as the oxide builds up. Blue is good and sufficient. Further dry heating in air will eventually produce a grey or even white layer which is titanium dioxide. This is the bad stuff and to be avoided!!

Hope this helps!!

Insulating oxide layers are good (mostly) - they prohibit current from passing between wraps, forcing electrical current to go through the whole wire.

Kanthal easily forms an insulating layer. Just letting it sit long enough in the air will form enough insulating layer to keep it from shorting between wraps.

Nichrome, not so much - it normally takes a bit of heat to build an insulating layer. When using tightly wrapped contact coils, it takes some work to get them heating evenly.

Nickel doesn't really form an oxide layer. Can't use contact coils.

Titanium is a different animal - a little heat builds up a good oxide layer. Too much heat, and it creates titanium dioxide (white dusty stuff). Titanium dioxide is great for making stuff look bright white (toothpaste, paint, etc), but you don't want to inhale it.

All great information guys, thank you...one of the posts re titanium elsewhere said do not pulse fire the Ti...just wrap, wick and go, so my next attempt will be with a properly spaced and lightly pulsed coil and I'll be looking for the same center out glow I get with my NiChrome.

I adopted NiCr a couple months ago and wish I would have way sooner...I build tight 26ga, 2.5mm, 8 wrap w/Rayon...75ohms, these builds outlast Kanthal by a pretty wide margin, produce better flavor than Kanthal and the vapor production and flavor are stellar so it's tough for me to deviate from this setup.

I've only built it once for TC using titanium, it seemed to lock the cold coil resistance no problem but naturally the resistance number fluxuated with use...wish I had more TC info to pass to you guys, with a full day of fiddling with it I couldn't get performance that was on par with my go to Nichrome/Rayon setups.

I have seen TC tests with RDA's and the user taking lung hits producing big clouds, I use 24mg strength juice in Kayfuns and take mouth to lung his, it seems like these shortened pulls don't perform as well using TC...but it's early days here in TC world so to be continued.

That's a bit discouraging. I'm in a similar boat, enjoying my Kanthal/Rayon or silica builds with 18mg and MTL hits. This being my first TC, I was hoping it would be a step up. Hmm

Don't let my feeble first attempt at a TC build discourage you, It very well might be a step up once nailed. The TC builds have a much steeper learning curve than a simple NiChrome micro build that I've had 3+ years to perfect...looks like it's back to school for many of us.

Well I just wanted to explain why it works! There are many people leaving 'information' who have no clue what they are talking about with the potential to lead others to make mistakes and be put off the whole TC thing. Not implying yiou are one of those btw :) I was just trying add some meat to the bones! Sorry if it offended you but hopefully others will find it useful..

I misread your quote I thought you were saying I was incorrect about what I said... I apologize. Im new to this forum and in the forum I usually post in there are a lot of people constantly trying to make others look like aholes... again I apologize.

So no update from 101 and it's officially August 3rd in China. I can't say that I'm surprised. Is GB shipping theirs yet?

At the time you posted this it was 8/3/15 but only 1:40am in the morning there its only 4:45am there now so we have until 5am tomorrow before we can say they didnt go out 8/3/15. Am I somehow doing the math wrong?
