I saw a pre order for it that's $70.

More or less what the sigelei 75 is going for... but that kinda bugs me, as the d2 definitely looks as the body is made of plastic.

I do love the look, and this would most assuredly be one of the most pocket friendly Tc devices, and I briefly thought about standing in line for this... but I'm going with the Sig. I don't want a mod that'll crack if I drop it. Plus, if that pre-order amount is correct, it's about $20 too high in my opinion.

If I'm wrong and it's just a smooth looking aluminum alloy then I may consider it.
The new istick tc mod is probably the most pocket friendly of the bunch :p

The kanthal tc is the upcoming Innokin, not this, but yes only their tanks/coil heads.

The only thing I don't like about this is no upgrades via USB... However, I assume it'll come with the latest Yihi upgrade which would include Ti as a menu option. I wonder if it's still gonna be 50 Joules in Ti mode, as well.

The upcoming IPV4 update will include Joules to 70 (only with Ti, not Ni200) but that's with batteries in series.

Yeah, I'm turned off by the fact that Sig's TC is apparently an "in-house" chip and make me wonder why they didn't go with Yihi (most of their older VW devices have Yihi chips). But, if it works well, it may still interest me as it seems like it would be a good, sturdy, out-and-about beater sorta mod. But

Sig, uncharacteristically, decides to not use a Yihi chip on their upcoming TC devices; meanwhile, IPV (the ONLY tc mods with authentic Yihi other than the SX Mini) and Asmodus split. Related?

Well I'm trying to be neutral here since I've never owned a ipv/ device. But for me I've never liked their products apart from (ipv mini) but for me their quality seems rather cheap even on their latest device ipv4. If i was to choose a product based on reputation it would joytech/heatvape/sigelei they seem to be made of decent quality and not rushed through unlike P4U.

Actually the iPV III , iPV2S , iPV2X and like you said the mini are very good quality for the money . Most agree that the iPV 4 does not have the build quality as the former and if you have seen one taken apart it's clear the shell is much much thinner with more plastic but thats a big reason why it's so affordable , great chip though.

Best quality mainstream mods to me are clearly Sigelei and Innokin, not a fan of Joytech but it's just my opinion of course.

No, I'm saying their a schit company with zero regard for the consumer. They release a new device every other month. They can't possibly be putting these devices through proper testing, and by doing this they are disregarding everyone from the consumer to the shops that sell them. Why anyone would support this crap company when there are so many quality alternatives befuddles me.

I thought you were talking about Eleaf because the above explains them to perfection . P4U has new warranty partners which can be found here:

Asmodus is no longer warranting to P4Y including tempcontrol devices. IPV line is not covered! | E-Cigarette Forum

Asmodus will no longer provide warranty repair for P4U | E-Cigarette Forum

According to this spec sheet it's body is billet aluminum and running the YiHi SX330 V4S chipset.
IPV D2 Mod by Pioneer4You 75W Temp Control
Vapor Joes says it has the SX130H chip. I hope it gets released soon as I am interested in this mod. It would be the highest wattage mod that I would own. I usually don't do high watts but I really like the form factor and the size is perfect. Not to mention a YiHi chip is a big bonus.

You could say that about just about every single manufacturer based in China, could you not? Kangertech, Joyetech/Eleaf, etc... They all do the same thing. How many mods/Rtas/etc are released only to have an "updated" version released 2 months later to fix issues that the manufacturer missed on launch?

Not all of us have the funds to buy an SX Mini -- this is a cheap alternative. And as of right now an IPV is the ONLY alternative if you want a Yihi-powered TC device.
There is a few places if you find a coupon code to get the Mini for $140 to $160 which is a pretty nice savings

Whatever YiHi chip ultimately comes installed is fine with me, and have to agree with you on the form factor…the biggest reason I didn't adopt regulated boxes sooner was their size.
