The latest news is that the chip is a YiHi SX130H. Also, I emailed P4U regarding whether or not this will have pass-thru but the response I received was "yes it has USB charging." I replied and asked them again, so hopefully I'll get a better answer. Regardless, no pass-thru isn't a dealbreaker for me (but it would indeed be a welcomed feature) and I've had my eye on this mod for the past couple of weeks so I pulled the trigger...pre-ordered from 101Vape. They're located in Carlsbad CA which is less than an hour south of me so transit time should be quick. Although I was charged 8.25% sales tax as expected, their pre-order price seems reasonable @ $49.99 (only $4.00 more than GearBest and I won't be growing a lengthy beard waiting for it). 75W is overkill for me but the size, shape and features are what appealed to me most. I'm over my vape budget this month but what else is new.
For those interested, a Sales Manager @ P4U replied to my email again last week and confirmed it has pass-thru capability - although I probably won't use it since the battery is so easy to swap out.

Hope to hear some good news tomorrow as far as P4U releasing/shipping the IPV D2. They have produced enough mods by now that they should be able to get this one out in a timely manner.

Really can't wait to get this one in my hands. Got a feeling this is going to be a killer mod and the demand will be high, I hope...

Yes i've seen this one, it's more like a promotion than a review. But i'm still waiting on my unit to arrive.[emoji6]

Agreed, when he said he wasn't going to show the TC, I wanted to scream at him. Only reason I will buy this is if it does temperature control right.

At 5:45 into the video he says "it doesn't have a USB micro connection." Then, at 7:10 he says "it's not as convenient as a micro USB." GearBest and a couple of other sites indicate it is micro USB, and I've noticed others (such as OriginVape) states it is mini USB. For the sake of convenience, I hope it is micro and not mini.

To me it seems he was stumbling and speaking jibberish because based on the information I've gathered, it does indeed have a micro USB connection. Correct me if I've misunderstood him.

It doesn't have a micro USB connection, just a DC plug-in port. That's what I've seen in every photo and video of the IPV D2.

Hmm that's interesting. (I edited my comment somewhat before I saw your post.) If it has a DC plug-in port, that might be inconvenient but maybe he does have a point about it possibly reducing any related repairs. Now that I think about it, no micro USB might not be a big deal since the battery is so easy to swap anyway.

With easy access to the battery I'm not sure why you'd ever use the charge port, I suspect most 18650 users own more than one battery and if it's firmware isn't upgradable not sure it even needs a port...then again maybe you'd use it for travel if you don't want to take your charger with you.

I'm sure everyone here will debate the need for a charge port, I personally would never use it.

I personally have no need for a charge port on a mod. I currently use a dedicated charger and I would rather pop in a freshly charged battery than wait hours for my mod to recharge a drained one. I also have no interest in being tethered to a wall outlet or computer for pass-through vaping. I'm definitely reluctant to use a mod for recharging as it may result in excessive heat in the mod that could potentially damage circuitry.

My first thought was that it may be an issue not having the micro USb but, I always carry spare batts. I have used the one on my Kangxin Mini VF once because that day I was in a rush & I had forgotten my spare 18650's.. I will admit, it was a life saver that day. But me forgetting gear at home is not the norm, so I haven't used it since. But it was great to have at that particular moment!! ;)

The Firestorm is wise in his charging methods, and just in general as a matter of fact.

lol yeah that's the worst "review" i've ever watched

It can't even be categorized as a review, he's definitely not the guy I'd want introducing new products for my company...yeah that's right, it's firmware isn't upgradable cuz that would be stupid, who the heck would want updated firmware that fixed bugs and improves performance, you people are crazy.

From 101Vape:

"*UPDATE* 7-22-15 The Manufacturer has not yet shipped these out. We are told they should ship within the next week. As soon as we hear they have shipped we will update this page."

Here we go... [HASHTAG]#preorderlife[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#whenwillilearn[/HASHTAG] :p
