on the mike vapes issue, if the base R wasnt locking it would let loose all flavours of merry hell on a TC device. The think just shows the actual resistance during the vape. A lot of the chiNA40 chips do this. Its a feature not a bug!! I actually like MV but he and a lot of the other reviewers really screw up a lot with these TC devices in spite of the number of them that they get to play with!
This is absolutely true. If the resistance wasn't locked, the device would fry the hell out of the coil. Think about it. If starting resistance is 0.20 and the device knows that its desired temperature will be reached at 0.35 (and lock that resistance), next time it fires, it would try to reach 0.50, then 0.65, then 0.80 etc. It would keep doing this until it reaches its wattage max. You would definitely notice the coil running at 700 degrees F instead of 450. But in Mike's case, it keeps reaching the same top resistance (meaning cold resistance is locked).
I agree that the changing resistance being displayed is probably a new intended feature. It would help you determine if there are any problems with your build (inconsistent ohms while firing etc). It's actually similar to the Evic VT which shows you the running temp. The D2 instead shows you the running ohms, which is probably even better.
