I've had mine for over a week now and just today noticed that I have the dreaded "crooked 510" problem that a number of people have reported. I noticed my tank sits on the device crooked. It isn't extremely noticeable unless you look closely, but now it is driving me crazy. A guy on Reddit said he hammered his down (it is press fit apparently). I tried that but no luck. I don't want to hammer too hard. Maybe I need to put more force into it.

I've always heard pioneer4you is hit or miss and their QC is lacking. I guess I was one of the unlucky ones. I am not furious about it because the device works well, but man little things like this drive me crazy.
I fixed my tilted 510 by attaching an old crappy squape clone and leveraging it straight. I went really slow and applied just enough force. Obviously you have to be incredibly careful but it worked out okay for me.

I read somewhere that they stopped using slotted 510 connections because people were breaking them using a screwdriver trying to adjust them. I just got mine a few weeks ago and it's slotted.

I read or heard that about the 510 on the first run sx mini. Not for this one?

Probably, you are confusing it with the SX350 mini which also had the slotted 510 issue so they changed it. I've never heard of a non-slotted iPV mini 510 although it would have been nice had they done the same as Yihi.

Regarding the use of Magma rda's, crxess post #103 on this thread said that he had damaged his iPV mini 30watt by overtightening it. I have 2 authentic s and was very careful when I first tried them but they are threading done all the way flush without issue. I will measure them tomorrow against others to see if there is a difference.

I believe all the mini's got a 510 fitting upgrade. Both of my Magma's screw fully down on my Mini 70w, but neither early release 30w. IPV did mention a change.(still slotted)

crxess, thanks for posting. I'm thinking a simple rubber or plastic washer (about 2mm thick) or something under the magma will shim this. I'm thinking that once you bottom our the spring 510 on these that is what caused my resistance to be jumping all over. My guess is once that spring is under too much load it wants to sit at an angle rather than flush. It would also explain why the steel pin connection on the magma is wearing off the brass on the mini connection.

Am I on the right track? I think if I shim up the Magma the right amount I should get a solid connection? This mama was unusable on my istick too, but I guess I could build it above 1ohm......although I think that would give me less than optimal performance and restrict me to my 20W on the istick I have.

Thanks! Would you say a sony vtc4 is a good backup?

Those are each great batts and I think most would rank them:

1. Sony
2. Sammy
3. LG

Just make sure you buy from a reputable dealer! No ebay batts, unless you want a rewrapped forgery! <--especially with the Sonys cuz they've been so hard to get the last 6 months or so!

I'd suggest illumn.com, they've never let me down on my flashlight or vape batts. Great prices and fast shipping too!

Thanks for the heads up!

I ordered from sweet-vapes, hopefully the sony batt, better yet hope everything is authentic. Bought the IPV mini 2, subatank mini and the battery, taking my first step into the sub ohm world. Hope I didn't trip myself up lol.

Sweet Vapes is a pretty well known vendor, I doubt they'd risk their reputation by selling a re-wrap. The ST mini paired with the iPV mini make a great pairing!

Ive bought sets of LGs and Samsungs off ebay that arent rewrapped. There was no confirmed rewrapps of either at the time though.

There are confirmed vendors that sell on ebay too.

The theme here is that many have received re-wraps and/or counterfeit batts via fleabay and most here would not encourage that practice! Personally, I would never buy any batteries, mods, or attys via ebay... and most ECF'ers would agree with me!

It's a crapshoot and you were lucky! Next time might not have the same outcome.

I'm buying the iPV Mini 2 but I'm having trouble with what type of battery I should buy for it. I've been reading on here that I shouldn't buy Li-ion batteries for regulated mods.

I wanted to buy the Panasonic NCR18650B 3400 mAh protected, but I've read that I should not use Li-ion protected batteries for regulated mods. Forums state that I should buy IMR or Hybrid batteries that are High Drain.

Doing some research I found the Panasonic High Drain 18650 2900mAh NCR18650PF Hybrid Li-ion. This is 500mAh less than the NCR but it's a hybrid and unprotected. Would this be a better choice?

Can you help me in giving me the right information on what kind of battery I should be using?

Sorry, but I feel you are fishing for lower quality to achieve higher Mah. Not necessarily a good thing.

PF = 10a discharge=:(
NCR18650PF 18650 Panasonic Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Flat Top

Samsung 18650 25R would last as long under stress loads. Mah drops off quickly under increased loads

I broke down and got a mini II today, my 30W version just wasn't cutting it for anything other than my Kayfuns, the II is performing great though and the new battery cap looks a lot better than the old one IMHO.

I got a question for you guys with the black versions though. I really wanted the black but at my local shop I checked out 4 different black ones and they all had a really crooked 510 on them, where as the silvers were all perfectly straight. Kind of a bummer but the silver is growing on me, can anyone with a black one chime in with whether or not your 510 is straight? i found it kind of strange the issue was only on the black ones.

I have the black version. Maybe I got lucky because the 510 is straight. I'm regretting going with black though because I've had it for about a month now and it already has five scratches and wear on some of the corners. I'm very careful with all of my devices (I've had the same cellphone for five years with only some wear on the corners), but somehow mine got scratched in my pockets. I'm particular enough to have my keys in the opposite pocket, but maybe I just had a rushed moment or two. I'll be switching to silver once I can afford another.

Silver mini 2 scratches and shows wear just as quick. Your best bet is to pick up a wrap. I have a black carbon fiber wrap from Vaporskinz.com. It looks pretty good and protects it from wear...
