Thanks for the info. man, very helpful. I'm looking for the highest mAh and highest and continuous amp. Do you have any suggestions? It can be hybrid or IMR (not Li-ion since they aren't good to use in regulated/mech mods right?).
Hi, Ghost, welcome to ECF.
Read your answer within the last dozen posts or so:

LGE HE2's and Samsung 25R's are typically highly recommended. I've been using the Samsung with good results.
Yes. Authentic Sony VTC 4 always seem to be recommended too.
Those are each great batts and I think most would rank them:

1. Sony
2. Sammy
3. LG

Just make sure you buy from a reputable dealer! No ebay batts, unless you want a rewrapped forgery! <--especially with the Sonys cuz they've been so hard to get the last 6 months or so!

I'd suggest illumn.com, they've never let me down on my flashlight or vape batts. Great prices and fast shipping too!

Thanks Vaping Turtle, I went through those but I'm just not sure which one to go with, but it's def. limited my choices to either Sony VTC4, Samsung 25Rs, Efest, or the LG HE2. However, the only thing is I'm trying to find one that has a capacity over 3000 mAh. I know that mAh isn't the most important component, but I'd really like to have a battery with that capacity.

Silver mini 2 scratches and shows wear just as quick. Your best bet is to pick up a wrap. I have a black carbon fiber wrap from Vaporskinz.com. It looks pretty good and protects it from wear...

I've never looked into skins before, thanks for the suggestion!

Go for a LG HE4 if you care about battery life. They seem to outlast the HE2s, and 25Rs on the battery graphs I've seen. Avoid efests, and MXJOs they are low bin rewraps of LGs, and others.

VTC4 in a ipv mini is a waste. By spec the ipv mini max input is 13 amp. Paying the $$ premium for a 30amp 2100mah battery for a regulated mod with a max input of 13 amps is just foolish IMO.

(Edit)

Lol, oops ipv mini II, heh. In that case you definitely want to stay the heck away from the pannys, and go for either HE4s, 25Rs, or HE2s. In that order for best battery life. VTC4 isn't such overkill, but still not needed.

Yea, I think I'm going to go with the HE2, but I think you were looking at the iPV Mini, not the iPV Mini 2, the Mini 2 is actually 70w, while the original Mini is 30w. Does that make a difference? Should I go for the VTC4 since it's 70w and not 30w?

Yeah, I saw that after the fact, forgot where I was.

Max input current on the mini II is 25 amp IIRC, so the 2500mah 20amp continuous/35amp max discharge batteries are still good to use. Just get real ones from a legit battery vendor.

If you are getting more than one battery, I'd consider getting a Sony and a Sammy! Test them yourself, both are top notch batts from great companies.

Check prices here: Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!

Out of these 3, which one would you choose?

18650 Samsung INR18650-25R 2500mAh High Discharge, 18650 LG 18650HE4 2500mAh High Discharge Flat Top (or the HE2 model), or 18650 Sony US18650VTC5 2600mAh High Discharge Flat Top(I found some "authentic" from alibaba.com, not sure if that's a reputable site or not)?

Don't buy batteries direct from China unless you want to wait for them to come over on a ship. It can take months I've heard. Also I wouldn't trust the legitimacy of VTC5s on alibaba.

You can't go wrong with HE2/HE4s, or 25Rs. Out of the 3 I guess I would say 25Rs since I just got a new pair in the mail yesterday.

That looks really nice! Can you tell me if it gives better grip then without it? With no wrap, the mini2 just feels a bit too slick for my old hands.

EDIT: Ooops! Guess I should have read through the end of the thread before posting this, but still curious how much better the grip is.

I checked the site out and they got some pretty cool skins, but I'm def going with the carbon fiber like you, except I got the black, so it won't look as nice as yours

The silver colored version appears to be more slippery that the black and so I think it was an owner of the silver that first suggested a wrap. Since then a number of new owners found that the finish of both colors flakes and/or scratches so a wrap might be a good investment for either color. It will preserve the finish and grip better and feel better in the hand IMO.

Black on Silver, Silver on black...grey and black with a touch of red is a hot color combination, sure you'll find a color that works for ya:2cool:

Haha yea, but the silver with carbon fiber skin looks awesome, especially since most of my stuff is silver and black, regardless you got me, I bought one, hoping it's gonna look smooth like yours

Just wanted to chime in real quick. Finally made my way through the whole thread and halfway through had to go buy the mini II. Its my first mod and certainly a step up from my mvp2. I actually found a gold one and fell in love. I was a little suspicious as I hadn't seen gold other than in the 30w, but it seems like everything checks out. Now if only my batteries would charge faster.

Recently bought my first RTA, so I wanted something that it'd match up with well and this will do the trick perfectly.

Anyway, thanks for the wealth of information you've given in this thread. I'm sure I'll be back reading again once questions come up.
