The ipv Mini uses a YiHiEcigar SX130 chip with a 13 amp input spec. I'm not even a Holiday Inn expert in electronics but it is my understanding from my betters that for regulated devices one needs to look at what the chip needs in the way of amperage input because the chip is what determines the amount of power being drawn from the battery.

i see that i need to learn more about how this stuff works then.

why are you guys using 20A batteries in this mod? Even a basic 10A AW battery will run it at full power. 1 ohm coil and giving it 25W is only pulling 5A from the battery

I can buy a 10A Battery and it should work fine for what I want the IPV Mini to do.

But can I then put that Same battery into Another Mod (which I Push Harder) and expect the same Results? And If I decide to get into Sub-Ohming down the Road, do I then need to buy "Better" Batteries?

The Cost difference between a 25A and a 10A is Basically Nothing.

So maybe the Question should be: Why would you Not get a 25A Battery?

I am getting my IPV mini on Friday. I'm wondering if I should return it and maybe just wait for the iStick 50W.

Although, I feel like if I do that, I'll never get anything new at the rate new devices are coming out.

Keep it and enjoy it. Don't regret it and don't be envious of new products. That will always happen and if you keep thinking like that, you'll never be happy. Concentrate on what you have. If it doesn't satisfy your needs (a good vape), then you can look for a backup or primary mod that you'll be happier with.

It's all about the safety friend. better to have more than you need than to need more than you have. As long as the price is fairly comparable why not go bigger?

Im rethinking buying the efest batteries. I found the samsung and lg batteries you mention but also found these mxjo IMR 18650 2500MAH 35A High Drain. Are these ideal as well?

Not an expert but at the moment I use Samsung 25R. They are excellent. I've heard LG HE2 are also good but Samsung ones charge last a little longer. Unfortunately sony VTC5 are not available anymore. Wait until someone more knowledgeable tells you better but at this time i would skip everything but LG HE2 and Samsung 25R.

You are right but you will pay more for the AW ones, supposing you buy them from a good dealer that won't sell fakes, and you would be limited to certain builds.

On regulated devices you want to run minimum what the input power is, for the IPV Mini that's 13a. Regulated devices dont draw amps from batteries based on the build like mechs do, its based on wattage/voltage only, so if you are going to use higher wattage settings on it you are going to want a bare minimum 13-15a battery.

I got my IPV Mini from Elev8, in black. It arrived today, and this is my impression after using it for the past 3 hours. The device feels solid, and nice in hand. My 510 connection is crooked, it's not bad, but its there. The buttons are clicky, but not loud. My fire button has gotten stuck a few times already, hopefully it's something that will go away as it gets broken in. The first thing I did was put a fresh 35A Efest in it and turned it on, came on no problem. I went through the functions to make sure everything was as it should be. PWM, DC-DC, and the mobile function all are there as they should be, as are the preset power profiles. I built my Lemo to 1.1 Ohm with 26g Kanthal and wicked with Japanese cotton. I set it to 20W and fired away. It produced a non-hot, mild vape. I bumped it to 25W, and it was a little warmer, but not by much, at this point I figured something was up. I bumped it to 30W and fired it, only slightly more vapor and a little warmer. I took the Lemo off, threw it on my SX350 Box, set it to 20W, and fired. A nice, smooth, warm vape, as it should it be. I set it 25W, and its a hot and robust vape. At this point I know it's the mini. I took out the Efest and put it a VTC4, threw the Lemo back on the Mini, and the same thing. A very mild vape, even at 30W. I also switched it back and forth between DC-DC and PWM, still the same issue, both extremely underpowered even at 30W. I took the Lemo off and put a Orchid V4, built to .5 Ohms on it, which did the same thing. Even at .5 Ohms at 30W, still a very weak vape, in both modes. I then powered the device down, took the VTC4 out, put the Efest back in it, and put the Lemo back on it. This time, I set it to 22W, and suddenly it's producing as it should, very close to the way it produced on my SX350. I turned it up to 25W, same thing, got noticeably hotter, as it should. At this point I figured maybe it was an out of the box kink that just needed to break in for a little or something. After this for the next 30 minutes it worked without a problem. I got up to walk to the end of my block to grab some food, vaping as I walked without issue. I went into the restaurant, ordered, sat down, got my food to go after 10 minutes, and left. I had the mini in my pocket the whole time, gripping it in my hand (front hoody pocket). After I left the restaurant, I vaped it, and out of nowhere, it's back to the crazy soft hit again. I didn't press any buttons, drop it (it never left my hand), or anything that. It just randomly seemed to go underpowered for no reason. After I got home, changed batteries, powered it on an off again, but the same thing, crazy soft hits at high wattage. This is where I stand now. Has anyone else had or heard of an issue like this? If you have have you heard for a fix for it of any kind? Thanks, and sorry for the long post, just want to make sure every detail of my issue is clear from the start. Thanks ECF, and Happy New Year as well!

Is your resistance jumping? If its reading at 1.1 then dropping to .7 for example youre going to get less power than its telling you. Thats usually the case in this scenario.

Apologies if I missed any previous posting, but what is the general consensus from owners on the charging port? Does it seem robust? I do not currently have standalone battery chargers, as I have all regulated mods. I would like to be able to just rely on the usb port for this.

I for one, have been a very happy Istick user......and was about to buy another but really like the replacable battery feature here...and sounds like better power management.

Cheers......this looks like the best on the market -- for my needs --- that is within my budget. I will be watching anxiously as more users report.

Due to where the charging port is located I put it on the edge of the desk standing up. Desk gets bumped, Mini falls, charge function no longer works. I"m assuming the solder tabs snapped.
