iPV4 Box Mod Ohm Jumping

I've had my iPV4 for a month and I've loved it until now. All of a sudden I was getting dry hits and warm batteries. After doing a new kanthal build I started pulsing my coils to see if I got the resistance I right and I noticed something odd. My resistance was jumping A LOT. Not the usual .01 change. I'm talking going from reading .11 to .3 and everywhere between!

I've done everything I can think of...
Tightened down the screws plenty
Looked for a short (wires touching the rda or each other)
The 510 connection is far enough out to get a good read IMO
Did a new build
Tried another RDA
Put fully charged high drain batteries in
Even opened it to look for leaked e liquid

NOTHING SOLVED IT! And now I'm scared to even hit the fire button again. Any ideas as to what is going on? Or a solution to the problem?

It might be a defective unit, because 99% of the time, ohm jumping means your coil legs are loose in the blocks. Try rebuilding, ut leaving a bit of the leg on each coil sticking out on the other side. I always leave a little extra coil on each leg and bend them up against the blocks to ensure they are nice and snug.

Hey johnnyfm. I've had the ipv4 for a couple weeks now and it's working good, so far. I also have the ipv2x and it has always worked flawless. The first ipv I got, the ipv 50w is working flawless but I did have the same issue with it, that you described and I also went through all the steps you mentioned. The thing just went crazy on me. I was getting ready to send it back but decided to mess around with the spring loaded 510 pin. It has a phillips type screw in it, so I started pushing it in and out to make sure it wasn't stuck or cocked over. I took a small phillips and started unscrewing it. It started feeling a little crunchy after a couple rounds so I started screwing it back in until it stopped and there was resistance, didn't over tighten just left it snug. I was afraid to keep messing with so I didn't break something. So I put my tank back on it to give it one last try before sending it back and it worked fine. I kept a real close eye on it for while but it never did it again. It's been working perfect ever since. I've had it a while now and have used it a lot. It's been dropped several times and has a few scars but I still use it regularly. I'm convinced that adjusting on the 510 connection on the mod fixed whatever was causing it to jump around and go crazy. I'm not really telling you to try this. You may just want to send it back or contact the vendor you purchased it from and let them know what's it's doing and see how cooperative they are. Making any adjustments could lead to damaging it and void your warranty. If you do make any adjustments I would make sure it's off and no batteries are in it. Maybe take an air duster and blow out the 510 and makes sure no liquid has accumulated under the screw or down in the connector. Hope you get it resolved. It's a bummer when something like that happens. I really have been pleased with my IPV's.

Hm, do you have anything that isn't rebuildable that you can attach to it?

When I'm looking to find the "base line" of an ohm reader of a new device (because they're always just slightly off) I'll throw something like a Nautilus with a tried and true 1.8 ohm coil on top, just to see what the 1.8 reads as. Doing that would narrow down whether it's the fault of the device or the atomizer.

Mine did tat once too. I puled the batteries and pushed i the spring loaded 510 a couple of times. It works fine now, so assuming it was the issue. Sometimes there is a lil schmutz in a new device when you get it and you need to clean it out, or wiggle it around, or stare at it in a menacing fashion for a minute. If that doesn't work, send it back before the warranty expires. But if you cracked it open already, you may have voided the warranty. There is a lil sticker in the battery compartment. If they can tell it's been tampered with, the warranty is gone for sure.
