I recently ordered one of those, and everyone I talked to who owns one seems to love it. However, I'm finding very little love for it in this sub-forum. What's up with that? The fact that it was a bad way to update the ipv4?

Just curious on the topic since I'll soon be a proud owner, but so far the main complaints I've seen were that the paint scratches easily, doesn't have a magnetic cover and doesn't do SS?

Any thoughts from people who own/have owned it?

I was originally thinking of either getting a Sig 150TC (love the look and the Sig quality but couldn't justify the price for my needs) or smok XCUBE II (loved the trigger style but hated the firmware bs) and got this one on an impulse.

I love mine. Hits hard. Great feel. TC mode for Ni and Ti. I vape SS in Power mode. Battery's last all day at .03.
I use the 5 presets. Not much not to like. No worries. You are having needless buyers remorse. Just let the good chi flow. Let it floooow....

Thanks for the review :) No, it's not remorse, just curiosity about the lack of buzz in these parts. For non TC, I have no need to move away from Kanthal, but I hope they'll issue a firmware update (one for which we won't have to pay $$$) ;)

I love mine but have to admit that I'll usually grab the Boxer if I'm wanting the dual 18650 battery life.

"buzz" about it seemed to have mostly dropped when the IPV4S came out and fixed all the issues that folks had with the IPV4. Both Ti and Ni profiles seem to be 'spot on'.

I think the D2 gets more attention as it is smaller and less expensive.

Yep. I paid $74 bucks or so. Yes, the biggest thread is all the ipv3ers complaining they got hosed. The one battery D2 is whatever. My son has one and digs it. The new one looks cool. I think he is buying the NEBOX though. I love the feel of my ipv4s. No problem with the battery sleeve. I have pinched it down a few times but no problem. I played 36 holes yesterday, chain vaped my Aromamizer woth a .08 build on it and still had a bunch of life left. The same goes for my SIG150...a real workhorse there.

Good to know. Thanks guys. I ordered mine from FT as they're selling it for $60. Had it been $74, I would have just gone with the Sig since it can be had for $76. So far, the only mods with user replaceable batteries that I have had are the Sig mini which I love and the Kbox (initially bought as a spare, but I used it to run the flavour changeup tank) that crapped out on me pretty quickly so I had to revert to the 2 isticks.

I almost bought the Sig but the IPV4S's native Ti support was enough to steer me to getting it instead.

I do own two Sig "tube mods" that I've been happy with. Both the IPV4S and Sig 150TC felt decent enough in the hand (with a slight edge to the Sig). I've been more than pleased with the IPV4S purchase.

    It just works.

By the way, there was indication that one user ran SS in TC mode in this mod, treating it as "titanium".. Has anyone here tried that? Any special settings? By the way this is my first TC mod and I don't even have it yet, so be gentle with the explanations, pls :)
SS will not engage TC mode on the ipv4s in Ti or Ni mode. It will still vape in Joules mode or power mode. It will not engage the TC. I tried with 317L.

Thanks. I contacted them to see if there will be a firmware update at some point. Will post up the reply if I receive one.

I cannot recommend the ipv4s. At first I loved it and thought it was the last mod I'd ever use. After about 3 weeks of use it started not reading atomizer resistance correctly. I vape in Watts mode and it has to automatically sense the resistance to calculate the watts. Unfortunately the resistance read bounces all over the place from .05 up to 1.0 ohms, and this is on a .5 ohm coil that actually reads .56 ohms on a device that works. This results in burnt hits and ruined coils. I have tried adjusting the pin up and down a bit thinking it was a contact issue but it's not. My adjustments made it no worse nor better. I undid them. It still hits the same:broken.

It has a perfect form factor. 2 18650 batts so I can go two whole days without swapping batts. It has a pull off cover for the batts so there's not threaded compartment to cause resistance changes/vdrop. From a design factor it has a lot of things going for it. Yet it sits in a drawer because it simply is broken.

I would not waste my money on it.

I have an ipv2 that hits reliably. I will wait for pioneer4you to come out with a new double 18650 device, with a different chip, and then I'll try that. I'd recommend you do the same.

Good.. I'm waiting for mine still and my Sig mini just crapped out on me. I'm modless (running on a loaner) as I travelled with minimal gear. After reading about Sigelei's handling of warranty issues and what happened to mine, there's no chance in hell I'll be ordering another. Will need another mod as a backup and also a Neme clone as the last resort kinda thing :)

Right, but it can still be utilized as I've used SS430 and Uwell Crown SS coils. Interesting that it doesn't kick up TC but running it around 310℉ (exactly how I used Ti on the DNA40). Whether it was or not limiting, it did prevent the burst of extreme heat to the coil.

    To OP:
It's a solid purchase and I use mine as my beater mod. Has taken quite the beating as I've had butter fingers one to many times carrying it about. However, my only con to it is that if your not careful will eat the tops of your battery covers.

Found a great deal from a Canadian dealer in my province. With a $10 off coupon, it cost me about as much as FT, but shipped locally via Xpresspost, so I got another IPV4 (only had silver ones in stock). Also ordered a Neme clone from China for $10 shipped as the last resort backup lol

Got plenty of battery covers and a heat gun here, so that's a non issue.. In South America, I had to use the gas stove lol

Do not buy it, I had two. First one died within 24 hours, resistance reading started jumping all over and it got really hot then melted. Instant swap for a new one. Second one lasted a few months but eventually failed in the same method. There is no onboard protection from the excessive heat this mod generates and it does not vent out the heat effeciently. Overtime it will either burn out from the faulty balance board(which may be fixed) or just self destruct from its own heat generation. You will notice the ohms readings getting less accurate and changing each time u try and lock it. That means your mods shot because if it cant read resistance right it cannot do TC. I gave in and got a DNA200 and I couldnt be happier. For the price for some of the chinese DNA200's like the HCIGAR's, VT200 and range of other legit DNA200 for under 150 if u look in the right places, you cant beat it.

There were so many broken models that the company contracted to do warranties broke there contract and stepped out because they couldnt keep up with the repairs. There are two new centers, but there very sketchy

Edit: Testing has shown the Ti Coefficient is incorrect as well

I appreciate the info while hoping you're wrong lol
I've had mine since August and not a single issue ever. It's my daily carry for how cheap I picked mine up for. Dropped several times as the bottom is dented up quite a bit and yet no drop in any performance. I think the above statement was geared more towards the older IPV4 which had issues. Considering you bought a IPV4S it does not have onboard charging as the original version was faulty. You should be fine and enjoy it! Oh pick up a silicone cover too if you will.
