Hi, hope this is the right spot to post this in. I haven't been on in a while, as I had been satisfied with my basic vaping. However, just came across a concern I wanted to get some feedback on.

I'm a basic vaper. I've been using a Sigelei 75W mainly (since the Cuboid 150W my buddy gave me quit registering atomizers), with the Nautilus Aspire a user was kind enough to hook me up with (and since my Aerotank Giant just quit working/making a connection on any of my devices; thanks, Sir2fyablyNutz!). I use basic 1.2 - 1.8 coils, and vape between 5.6W and 5.8W (currently 5.8). Nothing fancy, nothing too in depth.

I recently did some research, and read that the IPV5 was one of the better units available, and was looking for a 2 battery unit like the Cuboid was since I liked the battery life 2 batteries provided. I ordered one, got it today, got my batteries charged, and was ready to try it out. Didn't know until I tried adjusting it that it doesn't go lower than 10W. Ugh.

I don't want to burn through my coils, and the 5.8 setting seems ideal for me. Don't want to go messing with higher wattage if it's going to reduce coil life or damage them outright. Also don't want anything else to happen either.

I guess my question would be, is the 10W too high for my vaping habits? Should I just eat whatever loss I might incur (if I can't easily return the item and have to resell it) and get another unit? I did get it in case I wanted to delve into something more intricate later on, but if it doesn't support my current usage, then it might not be worth just using as a paperweight until that day comes, if it ever does.

Kind of disappointed with this, didn't realize it had a minimum 10W setting, and not really liking the idea of throwing money away on something I'll never use. I did just get two tanks from Ebay, one Atlantis and one Subtank mini (all in one auction; go me), also wondering if either one of those would be best suited on the IPV5 and if it would be in my best interest to keep it to use with either one, or both, of those.

Any input and assistance will be greatly appreciated on this one. Thanks in advance.

Specs say 10 - 200 watts. Did you miss that in your research? If the spec was a deal breaker then you did. How does the vape suit you at the lowest setting with those coils?

I kind of stated that in my post. I did not know until I got the unit that it only went down that far. I looked into what was considered what was one of the better quality 2 battery units, and did not see that the 10W was the minimum.

No, I have not tried it as I do not want to burn up my coils. I've tried going higher on other units, and it seems to give a burnt taste and warm up quicker if I go too high. The 5.8 seems to be a good spot for me for what I'm using.

Just tried it on the IPV5. It does seem to give a burnt taste at that wattage. Maybe the coils aren't the best, but they do work fine at the lower wattage and tend to last quite a while. I don't seem to get as much flavor as I do at the lower wattage either.

I guess it's a safe range as far as wattage/voltage goes, but it does seem to be too high for what I'm using. Idk, kind of bummed out and wanted to make sure I didn't make a mistake here. Like I said, I'm not into the more technical aspect of vaping, just like filling, firing, and going on my way.

To add, I use a 50/50 juice in my tanks. That could be a factor too, I assume? I know there are differences in wicking, etc. but honestly I'm just a simple vaper looking for a simple set up but don't want to get low quality items that could wind up breaking down sooner than I would like, and like something with a longer life.

I do have an RX200, but realized that was a bit much for me as I was more into the mid size, 2 battery units (or one, if necessary, as in the Sigelei).

That came off a bit harsh, too much Fasttech lately. The mod is good. It is very good at temp control. If you think you want to try that, and IMHO you should, this mod has legs way beyond it's price point.

That's another thing I have zero clue about, is the temperature control subject. lol Haven't delved into reading into that really, as the basics to get me started was good enough for me.

I'm sure I'm missing out on some nice things as far as more advanced vaping goes, but just taking the time or finding the motivation to get into all of that seems a bit overwhelming.

You mention not wanting that burnt taste. This is what TC is designed for. When set right the juice vaporises but the coil will not burn the wick.

I was skeptical till I tried it for myself. It is not harder than setting the mod up for kanthal and watts once you get used to it.

Can you build your own coils with the subtank mini?

No idea, I'm not into all the building stuff. I get tanks that take the premade coils, buy some, change them when needed. That's the extent of my coil usage. Not into the whole rebuilding coil thing at this time.
