I have a 2 month old IPV5 that fires on it own and tells me that I'm hot.

Actually, that is the problem. The fire button randomly fires for short periods all by itself. It's sitting on my desk and going on/off/on/off. If you hit the fire button 5 times, it gets into the menus, but it scrolls through all the option pretty quickly without touching anything.

I opened it up and cleaned the button, but there really was nothing to clean. It feels nice and has that tactile feel when you press it. It's not sticky or full of juice. I did notify who I bought it from, 101Vape, but I've always had problems with dual batt mods.

Sig 150 TC: It fell apart, magnets took off, case screws got loose and fell out
smok R200: Just died after 1 week due to a spilled beer. Bright flash inside, magic smok came out.
IPV5: Button failure for unknown reason, I don't use it that often. I took good care of this one.

I'll probably get a message from 101Vape saying they can't do much, and that's okay. What would you recommend for a dual bat mod that travels well. I go back and fourth 440 miles quite often, I'm on dirt roads and bad places. I like to take something with some battery power with me on these trips.

FYI: The Sig150TC still works, just needs tape to hold it together.

Thanks in advance,

Charles

It depends on your budget but there's a lot out there in terms of "sturdier" and higher power.

Based on your history, I would probably get a case of some sort just for peace of mind, even if nothing you did really caused those problems.

Off the top of my head, there's the Joyetech Cuboid 150W and I believe now a 2-batt eVic of some sort which is similar. I have a Cuboid and I've gotta say it's holding up great, and that's what others have reported too... though it seems heavy enough that if it gets dropped, its own weight will cause more damage. Maybe not! I don't find it unreasonably heavy but I like heft.

Tesla Invader III is very sturdy and doesn't have a lot to break but isn't unregulated. No screen but it's still VV; done with a potentiometer like a Hexohm.

A little pricier but the Hohmwrecker G2 is a really excellent dual-18650, 171W (with update), TC-any-metal mod that is going for a really good price on ecig.com. The company behind it has video of it being run over with a car and still working.

Another company came out with a mod meant to be incredibly durable... I forget what it's called now but ZophieVapes threw it off a fourth floor balcony and vaped it. Think it's single 18650 and maybe 70W though.

Lastly, it's probably lower power than you want but just in case, the iStick Pico has been a great out-and-about, single 18650, 75W device with pretty good battery life. (Certainly this depends on the capacity of the battery you're using since it's user-replaceable; I just mean it seems to be fairly efficient for an inexpensive mod. My iStick 60W sucked up 2500mAh in a few hours.)

Ed: I'll just beat some others to the punch who will say "get a cheap device, don't be surprised when you get cheap results." But there are plenty of good, inexpensive devices around, even completely besides this list. As someone whose most expensive device in the last four years was $73 and even that was a splurge, my best advice if you're going to go with less high-end mods is to try to get a backup ASAP so you can rotate some. I have some really janky mods still chugging (SAFELY) because I didn't have to use them every day. If you don't want to get a backup, it may really be worth considering spending a little more up front for something that might last longer or is maybe backed by American customer service. But again, after my Provari and my REO (which I love, don't get me wrong) I realized it wasn't always necessary to spend $150+++ to get a great e-cig. Unfortunately, stories like yours do happen. I've got plenty of my own.

Well I've got a Tesla invader III and it sees abuse im a heavy equipment operator it's been dropped on tracks and in mud,ran over and pressed in mud at the same time by a dodge Dakota,I bought two more because these are built like tanks no led screens to break and 240w to boot, fire button has never failed once, the two new ones are in my jeep and I doubt I will use those,on a side note my buddy is a farmer and he's using a invader 3 as well has been for 6 months and its been to heck and back

My Ipv5 did the same thing twice but it is simple to fix.
here's how:
1. take apart the firing button
2. clean the dark spots with alcohol
3. reassemble
