Hey guys, hey greenmachine17... I think when you're carefully putting in the batteries in you'll be good.

So, I got some news from P4Y today.

After trying to get in touch with P4Y on Skype since the 14th Sep. one guy finally wrote back. (P4Y Sales director apparently, at least that's what his Skype profile says.)

First he asked me if I like trouble what what issues I'm actually talking about.

(well, that's not the best way to start a conversation. He then went on on the TCR problem)

He said that I probably didn't set the right TCR value for my wire since he doesn't know if my wire was pure or not and he didn't see any adjustment on my side in the video.

(well ok, what is not shown in the video is that I tried a range of values from 0.00085 to 0.00120 and the coil was glowing each time.)

Then he said that they (P4Y) set the preset for SS316 already and why would I even need to set my own TCR value then when I was using SS316L. It's working in preset, he said.

(ok, fair enough, I just tested it, alright. And I would expect the mod to behave the same way like preset then, but it doesn't. Anyway.)

We didn't get further than that on this topic.

Then I asked about the "button lock feature".
He said that they added a locking feature now by pressing power button 3 times.

So I asked about a time frame for a firmware update since that is not working either on my device.

And now, here it comes, he said that there's no update. It's a new device.

There you go. That's all I got from them so far. I would like to upload this Skype conversation somewhere but that might cause a privacy problem. I don't know.

All I can say for now is that this IPV 6x was my first and last device from P4Y. But you never know... sometimes, with them, it's like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand does. If you know what I mean. They might release an firmware update after all but they might not.
Anyone with a proper crystal ball here? haha..

Yeah, well, there is no preset for 430 stainless, so using the presets is not a viable option for that. Plus, when I made a 316 coil and used the preset the temperature was cold. I honestly think I will simply return the 2 ipv6x I have and buy more DNA200 devices. They seem to perform as advertised, and I don't need to wait for a "maybe" firmware update.

I wonder if P4Y has any clue how big the online Vaping community is, and that we talk amongst each other. This thread alone has over 16,000 views. That does not include reddit, VU, or Fastech Forums. I would think that since this is the last mod that can be imported into the US, they would do everything in their power to correct these issues, and let us know that they are being fixed.

Here is another video that someone posted of their IPV6X glowing the coils when trying to use the Manual TCR function:

Are there any dual 18650 DNA devices with a similar form factor? The VT133 is much bigger than the IPV6X.
For non-dna dual 18650 devices, the Segelei 213 is worse with TC than the IPV6X. The Smok Alien may be a good device, but it has that horrible fire bar. The RX2/3 has that horrible 510 connector.

The IPV6X has the potential to be the BEST dual 18650 mod (for me at least). P4Y just needs to fix these FEW bugs! :-x

I hope they'll hear ya @jjatl

And yeah, I saw that video just today as well. Same problem there. It's from Crankshaft67. He was writing loads on reddit about this device.

I was looking for other dual battery mods too because I think that these are best for battery life and size. Totally agree with you on the Alien. I like the form factor but the fire button.. ehh not really my thing.
RX2/3... I don't know.. 510 you know.
Therion maybe, but a bit big as well and only 75W but DNA at least.

But I'm with you, IPV 6x could be outstanding but all the quirks and fails and P4Y... hopeless.

From my side, I'm done with P4Y. To me they seem no better than Sigelei. If you compare the Sig213 and IPV6x then IPV6x is still a bit better when it comes to TC since the presets are kind of working. But the lack of customer service is quite the same.

After what this guy told me today it seems like they just don't care to roll out an update and instead they might just throw another mod on the market.

Seems like we just have to wait until someone throws a dual battery mod out there with a decent DNA200 and the form factor of Sig213/IPV6x/Alien...

Please get in touch as soon as you see something like that. :) I'll let you know too..

A 2 battery DNA 200 solution will provide a maximum of 133W. There is a new Therion 133 release. Same 2 battery solution as the DNA 75 model, but with a DNA 200 board in it, running at 133W max. All the usual Evolv/DNA stuff and software for management. There are other 2 battery DNA 200 mods out there providing 133W while offering the smaller profile of a 2 battery case.

Hey guys, I have a little update as well..

Someone over at the VU forum received a replacement 6x from KMG Imports so I asked him to test the TCR to see if it worked...it does not. The only thing they fixed was the RBP and added in a 3 click to lock feature.

I also gave up trying to get answers from P4Y. I did contact the place where I bought it from (3FVape) and they said that they will contact P4Y directly to let them know of the problem. This is the first P4Y product I ever purchased and it will most likely be the last.

I had a feeling that would be the case. :grr::eek:

I am not quite ready to thrown in the towel on this, because I do truly like this mod. I have messages out to KMG, P4Y, DJSLB, Yihi, and a dealer. Hopefully something comes of this.

Thank you @Eskie... and thank you @Kayvin M for rechecking with the guy from VU.

Great to hear you got the 400 going @greenmachine17 and MacGyvered it :)

It's not all lost yet @jjatl...

I just got some news from Yihi (sxmini) and their engineering department. They said that this TCR issue is a bug and they will work on it and solve it later soon. We should keep our attention to IPV's website if there is an update release sometime soon.

So, it looks like Yihi is an amazing company with great service and they are working on it. Even though it's not their mod! I just hope P4Y is not too stubborn or greedy and will release an update. (btw. if an update is even possible with this mod.)

Please let this be accurate info that you were given :nun:

I cannot believe that Yihi would spend the time and money to create a new version of the FW if P4Y was not going to use it.

(btw. if an update is even possible with this mod.)

That is the question - Are our mods capable of being upgraded?

Will we be able to update our mods, or is the upcoming version of the FW going to be installed on the new batches of the IPV6X and we are just out of luck? If that is the case, I will wait for KMG to have the new batch, and then send my device in for the Recall, getting a patched mod.

Hey there...
Well, I don't know how reliable this information from Yihi is. I mean, I was talking to this person via email since the 14th Sep. and provided information. It was definitely someone from the SXmini Service Team since he told me that he's not familiar with this mod.
Then there was a conversation like "but it's a Yihi chip... Yihi might want to have a look..." and so on, you know.

It was a forth and back conversation since. Two days ago the person told me that he had not heard back from the engineering dep. without me asking for status yet and just this morning he wrote to me saying what I said in my last post.
I actually tend to believe him, I must admit.

So, I think they are on it and get rid of this little fecking bug. But I truly hope that this mod is upgradeable by ourselves.
Because what you were thinking about the KMG.. new batch.. exchange.. is a good idea but doesn't apply to me since I didn't buy this mod in North America nor do live there.

Daniel from DJLSB has confirmed what we already know about the TCR not working. He has not done the full review yet, and he says that he has not opened the mod up yet to see if it is firmware upgradeable. Maybe this will help our cause.

It sounds like his full review is coming in the near future.

See him discuss the TCR VERY briefly at 8:00, and he discusses the IPV6X on and off throughout the video:

So Daniel got back to me. He didn't answer my question of whether the IPV6X has the ability to upload new FW, but he did confirm what @Priggster said about Yihi working on an update. I am guessing that he hasn't opened the mod yet to see if the connections are all there to update FW via the USB. **fingers crossed!

Here is my correspondance with Daniel - DJLSB Vapes:

ME

Hi Daniel, Are you aware if P4Y/Yihi is working on a FW update for the IPV6X to fix the Manual TCR functionality? Have you disassembled the IPV 6X yet to see if firmware updates are possible via the USB connection? Thanks!

DJLsb Vapes

Yes I'm aware, I tested TCR, and it doesn't work at all, so I asked them if they knew, they told me they are working to fix it ;-)

You know that sound that a Windows PC makes when you plug or unplug a USB device into the PC? Well, mine does not make any sounds or show any popups when I plug or unplug my IPV6X. The only thing that happens when I connect the IPV 6X to my PC is that the display on the mod shows a different battery meter with the voltage of both individual batteries.

If my PC does not notice when I connect the IPV6X via USB, does that mean that there are not wires on the inside of the mod to even allow a FW update? Has anyone opened up the mod and peeked inside? When Daniel DJLSB opened the IPV400 there were only 2 wires going to the USB for power, and that was it.

Hey there..
Haha.. same here.. I tried that 2 days ago too. I even downloaded this SXi program for updating IPV devices and even this SXi-Q program as well. When I plug in the 6x nothing shows up. Always "no device connected".. I tried so many times with different USB cables, different USB slots. Reinstalled the programs... nothing. No luck to install a driver anyway. (and yes, i took the batteries out of the mod as well and with and without Atty :) )
I think it's not looking good, guys!
