So guys bad news. A 3 foot fall to my carpet killed my battery door on my IPV6. I am pretty good with my mods but I have had a couple fall before. This was the only one to die because of it. That's not the bad news. I opened it up to see if I could confirm the worries. This device has only two cables soldered onto the USB daughter board like the 4k. One to the 5v and one connect to ground. This device is not updatable.

While the above news is rather shocking and depressing I recently wound up a Ni200 coil and I'm happily vaping on it with my IPV6X.

While I bought the 6X to compliment my other YiHi350 devices it looks like it will rather be a smaller and lighter compliment to my IPV4S.

Still not exactly what I bargained for but at least I can make some use of the device. Very likely my last P4U product because of this.

@Topweasel - Thanks for posting that image. If you don't mind I grabbed a copy of it and will use it as leverage on Breazy (where I bought mine) for an RMA number.

I find this very odd as the IPV3LI, IPV4 and IPV5 were firmware update-able.

    Very annoying.
Go ahead. If you need one with the solder points labeled (I think it was on back of the main board). I can take another shot of it.

I think P4Y has gone rechargeable usb port vs upgradable. If they keep pumping out devices like apple/ samsung does w their phones, why should they have upgrades ? Keeps us buying more. it's sound business, even if it sucks. Supply and demand

Hi there and thank you very very much @Topweasel for taking it apart.

Well, I was kind of expecting this after all I had to read so far and after this stupid conversation with P4Y via Skype.
I just don't understand this company. Having a chip which is able to take upgrades (SX330) but then they think "ah well, just forget it.. no one needs to upgrade their mod because we do a great job in the first place."
    It's a shame.

It is sad to read all this, my hope was a firmware upgrade would fix, but alas no. Even my humble Joytech V2 minis are upgradeable and do what they promise to do. With much disapointment I am going to return both of mine and get something else. Probably another DNA200 device. 1 of those is worth more to me than 100 "nice form factor but doesn't function" mods.

Where is that thick, red, insulated wire going? It looks like it is going to the underside of the USB board?

Hopefully you can find it a good home with a VW or SS316 vaper before you decide to see how many times you can skip it!
Not holding my breath on any P4U updates in fact out of the P4U mods I have owned IPV2, 2x, 4 and 6x 3 have been lemons!

I'll try it with 316 but someone did say it was a cold vape.

It is cold, but with the temp cranked up, it works really well and smooth. I would say that it is 75-100f too cold. On other mods I typically vape around 450-460F, and with the IPV 6X I get a satisfactory vape around 540-550F.

I just wanted to add that I had such high hopes for the 6x and got one as soon as it came out, even though I was very skeptical of p4y in general. My first disappointment was plugging it into my computer and it not reading any device as having been connected. I made my peace with that knowing that even if it were upgradeable I wouldn't be getting many (if any) updates from p4y anyway. After that, I kept having the annoying issue of the battery door popping open sometimes when I place it down on a table or even when I go to pick it up or bang it into the gearshift when driving. Then I tried using 316 in tc and was very disappointed. I still use the mod, but it's definitely not everything it should have been.
I noticed some people aren't interested in the Alien because of the fire bar, which is exactly why I was more excited for the 6x, but after all the disappointment, I went and got an Alien. Now I have a mod that seems to do pretty much exactly what it promises and smok is very diligent in the firmware department. And as for the fire bar, I recommend you go to a local shop and try it. It's not like the Xcube but rather a bottom-hinged bar that really only fires toward the very top. I know a lot of the reviewers on youtube received units with loose fire bars, but mine is tight and solid and from what I've heard, other customers taking delivery of retail versions haven't been experiencing this issue either. There are only two things that bug me about the Alien so far. The first is the screen placement: when you trigger the mod in your right hand, the screen is sitting against your palm, so not only can you not read it but you end up getting prints all over the screen. The second thing that bothers me is the 510 placement. The mod is nearly 30mm thick, but the 510 is so close to the edge that anything larger than 24.5mm will overhang on that side. I wish smok had either centered it like the 6x or at least bumped it 2-3mm inboard. Other than that, I have a feeling the alien will be getting a lot more use than the 6x. I know this was a bit off-topic, but I thought others that were equally disappointed with the 6x might want a nice alternative.

I just emailed Breazy for a fully functional replacement or a refund.

IDK how P4U dropped the ball so bad on this device. Hurried out the door? On paper it addressed two of the misgivings I had with the IPV4S - user programmable TCR and size.

While I enjoy the size of the device not having functional TCR is a show stopper. If a replacement or refund can't be had this device will find a place next to my POS Sigelei 213 which BTW also could not regulate temperature.

I read up on just the recent comments in this thread and I found it disheartening. First the Sigelei 155 and now this..

Well I still don't have my IPV6X. SlowTech was kind enough to send me someone else's order instead. The package, however, did have the other person's contact details and he also resides in Aus, and luckily he has my IPV6X. Woohoo! Now we just have to trade via crappy Aus Post.

Edit: That last bit may have been off-topic. My apologies.

Wow and haha @KayP this is a funny mixed up shipping.. I hope crappy Aus Post will still be quicker than Slowtech!

Here a little conclusion for people who don't read the whole threat about the IPV6x

-first batch doesn't have RPP or locking buttons feature

-firmware is NOT upgradable (as far as we know and I've been told by vendor and by rude IPV "Kevin Salesmanager"

-TCR doesn't work (tested myself and confirmed by Yihi SXmini customer service)

-TC kind of works if you crank up the temp more than usually

-Battery door can be a pain in the ... by opening itself with the lightest push

-don't know if it reaches 200 watts, well I can't test it and haven't seen a test yet so let's assume it actually is close to 200. But still need to be confirmed.

So, here you go. Thats what you bargain for! False advertising again and promised features that just don't work.

The funny thing is that I use it as my daily driver anyway as it works good in power mode and I like the form factor. But it's the same fecking SIG213 ..... This is just NOT what I paid for!! And that is actually what really pisses me off! Screw you Sigelei and now screw you P4Y!!

I mean, let say you go to a Burger shop and they say "here get that burger with tomato and bacon on top" but you only get one with just meat and cheese. That's still a burger, right, and it might be even good and you might be happy. But that's just not what you ordered or even paid for! And if this Burger shop keep doing that and don't listen to your complaints then I would never go there again. And will tell other people about this.

And this goes to all these people who say (about Sig213 or IPV6x) "hey, mine works great, I love that thing, I only use power mode though and not even go above 100 watts"..
Yeah, cool for you, but that's only half the story!
I mean if I pay money towards something I want this thing to work exactly how they promised. So, I do feel absolutely ripped off by these 2 companies! Screw them!!
