If a logician walked in on this argument, I think their heads would implode from the level of INVALID.
i think the first typicality American post started the ball rolling..
why typically American.. cos only an american would be brassed necked enough to condemn another country without due thought for simply wanting what their own country has an abundance of and without proof..
DC a little too politely picked up on it.. why.. cos he aint an american..
but this is what the new concept of pre-emptive attack is all about.. rightly or wrong stopping such things from happening..
a question once ask of Israel.. "what will you do when the the Arabs have a bomb".. the answer... "that is a situation we could never permit to happen"..
the rest follows on from there..

Trog, I'm just not bothered continuing the conversation. there is no point, he is just going to continue to go off on tangents. It's a waste of my time. If George Galloway was a forum member, he would probably see the cause to continue. I'm not bothered talking to a wall. I've got better things to do.

No there won't. Yet this is a country that does have nuclear weapons and is the only country that has ever used them in an act of war. It's double standards.
It is also deflating that this post was made by such a well informed, educated and much admired forum member but perhaps it was a mistake. perhaps it was more of a jest. perhaps he is used to picking eye-catching headlines, I don't know.
Of course Reign wants to accuse me of anti-Americanism. I don't hate Americans. i would say ~50% of my best friends are Americans. some of them are serving in the current war as i write. I have lived there for half a decade and I know there are many who feel the same way as I do.
I know first-hand that Americans are not stupid. they can see through the crap, just as anyone else. They know what the propaganda machine tries to do. I am not having a rant at Americans. but it's all to easy to accuse me of this and twist the conversation. i am not going to partake. but the record needs to be set straight.
So, I'm out. made my point. That's all i wanted to do. didn't think this would turn into a 2-dayer.

You say its all too easy to accuse you of this. Why is this? Well, because its true. I did not twist the conversation at all, I quoted multiple times your comments and you refuse to comment on them. Saying you have american friends is like me saying I have alot of black friends if someone calls me a racist. Its the response most used when a person is called out on something they did or said.
You can keep your powerless government, Ill stick with the Americans. At least we have a history of using weapons when they are needed to prevent the loss of AMERICAN life over the loss of ENEMY life.

Being that the picture isn't really of the Japanese flag, It shouldn't offend. Its a picture I found on an antismoking site showing the grim reaper using analog cigarettes as his "Scythe" to take souls.
It was kind of interesting though that it was brought up that way.

This is one reason I do not post much on internet Forums, seems if you are one of the "group" you look after each others back, If i had mentioned "Nig*er" on a US forum I would be banned. I do think Reign had the unfortunate timing of his/her avatar on this thread, and no I did not find it a problem. Even if I did it's OK according to Kate to make racial slurs as long as you did not mean it!

i recon the guilty parties are the ones that take offense too easily not the ones that unintentionally cause it..
offense is in the intent not the word.. tolerance is the key not watching every bloody word u utter in case it offends someone with stick up there ........
an insult is an insult no matter how nicely its uttered.. as i say offense is in the intent not the words.. learn not to be so easily offended and there wont be any problems.. go around looking for offense and u are sure to find it..

I'm afraid that's the way I understand the words as well. I'm going to avoid being drawn into this, this is a place to discuss e-cigs, not a small minority of the USs' populations ultra right views.

No, it's not.
It's especially irritating to hear it from a "half japanese" to be all insulted because someone said .... "..." is not equivalent to the ....... No one in your family, nor anyone that your family has ever known or lived with, knows any extent of oppression like the black community. Funny thing is, the "...." are fiercely ethnocentric people and have been, historically, the LEAST oppressed group of Asian ethnicities in the world. If anything, they have shown to be the MOST oppressive; China, Korea, most of South Asia - all of it home to Japanese-enforced slave labor, prostitition rings, and death camps years and years before WWII.
Also, it's even more insulting to hear white people complain about racism. Stop it. You will never know what oppression, prejudice, or outright HATE feels like in any Western world. Why? Because you people dominate it. And yes, I said you people.
