Yes it's safer. Nic has an impact on the circulatory system. If you're not addicted to it, don't get addicted to it. :2c:

It's a free country though.

EDIT: And apparently you've been asking around:
I just dont wanna use nicotine, and a pod looks good and easy to bring.
Hmmm.

I agree with this. :thumb:

I used to work as a surgical assistant in the OR. Many surgeons would tell patients to stop smoking weeks before doing an elective surgical procedure, because smoking really affects the post-operative outcome of their work. Anesthesia personnel can also tell if you are a smoker by how you react under anesthesia, so they also make the same requirements before you do an elective procedure. If you are a smoker, you don't want to make the surgeon or anesthesia people's job harder than it already is, especially if your life or surgical outcome is at risk.

Some will say that nicotine is a mild stimulent and is no more harmful than caffeine. But medical staff also include caffeine products in their pre-surgery ban along with a long list of other medications.

Bottom line is: everything that you take into your body has some effect on it.

Here's the research I've collected on the topic. You can draw your own conclusion.

A study of air quality in a vape shop came back with no significant concentrations of formaldehyde or other toxins. All chemicals measured were below occupational exposure limits. [CDC]
Vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking, and likely much more. [PHE]

The jury is still out on long term health effects of vaping and there are lots of variables involved for each individual.

Do a search and read all about nicotine, lots of info available. FWIW nic is not the dangerous component of tobacco smoke and has been shown to have a few potential benefits. Sort of like ethanol, if you don’t drink don’t start. Cheers and good luck!

Hello,

I've received my first vape and i got some 0mg ejuices with it.
But I was wondering is it actually less harmful or it still bad?

This question might sound a bit stupid, but i've got no experience around this.

Kind regards.
Part of the problem with this question is literally everything is bad for you. Breathing for example is bad for you. Oxygen is an oxididant(of course) and as such breaks molecular bonds and can cause problems. We do it though because NOT breathing is a much much bigger problem.

It’s all relative.

So speaking relatively:
is vaping zero nic less dangerous than vaping nic liquid? Yes.
Why? Because nicotine is addictive. Aside from being addictive, a major anti-anxiety drug, and a short term vasoconstrictor though it’s pretty innocuous.
My personal suspicion is that the reason it is addictive is because it is a fast acting major anti-anxiety drug. I have no hard data myself about that though.
How much less? Hard to gauge. If you get addicted to nicotine because you vape it could be a big problem

Is vaping nic liquid less dangerous than smoking? Yes.
Why? Cigarettes contain a lot of things besides nicotine, many of which are really really bad for you.
How much less dangerous? A whole lot. A hundred to a thousand times less. IIRC there was a study that compared the increased cancer risk of vaping to the increased cancer risk of eating a ripe tomato.

Is not vaping at all less dangerous than vaping zero nic liquid? Yes.
Why? Because doing basically anything and everything is dangerous.
How much less dangerous? No one knows. Probably not a whole lot, but studies haven’t been done but even eating fresh strawberries cause cancer. Nothing is zero even though thy can be very close to it.

Less harmful than the known toxins & carcinogens contained in tobacco smoke,,, yes.
Still bad? define 'bad' and then compared to what?

If you have any concerns about the safety of vaping, don't vape, simple.

We're all gonna die. Truth. If you've already bought the dang thing, use the dang thing. Don't come to a vaping forum asking if you should vape or not. With that said, by your juvenile dialogue, I'm getting the impression you're a kid, and you should ask your parents what they think.

Look no one is saying inhaling eliquid is SAFE, especially flavored. So I don't know that "one" is safer than the other.

What I do know is that no nic will reduce your risk of NICOTINE issues, so if you can do that, probably DO that. However, if you have no need of nic, and you are inhaling purely for fun and flavor alone..... I'm not sure I would BEGIN that habit. It's expensive over the long term we absolutely do not know what will happen, although short term is looking good.

If I could go back in time an NOT start smoking, and be a never smoker and never vaper I 100% WOULD.

If I could never KNOW how wonderful nurturing an addiction that you could (at least in the past) satisfy on my every whim, I would GLADLY give up that knowledge.

I could not have quit smoking without vaping. I am PRETTY sure it has extended my life by a GREAT deal.

However, I don't think I would have picked up vaping for no reason. I'd probably still be participating in bike races, probably MARRIED to a non smoker, and etc.

SMOKING changes your life (IMHO) in EVERY way. I wish I could go back.

I would imagine, for some, vaping may do the same thing. Harm reduction does NOT mean harm elimination and anyone who says it does (at this point in vaping's evolution) IS LYING.

So, chose your options, and choose them CAREFULLY.

Because, you do have the option to ABSTAIN and I can tell you that of ALL the mistakes I've made in this life, the ONE I wish I could do over would be picking up that FIRST cigarette.

Good luck, choose your own adventure but know the risks.

Its safer yes. Nicotine isn't actually cancerous as far as I know but its still bad for you. It temporarily increases your blood pressure and heart rate which can be bad if you have high blood pressure medical issues already and can probably be bad for your heart. Same with caffeine though.

I vape a lot. My blood pressure is pretty low, and I also drink coffee and take Adderall. A fairly high dose. My resting heart rate is usually in the 60s-70s but I also exercise and have good genetics.

The statement "Nicotine is probably fairy similar to caffeine" is probably true.

When I was younger, I had to drink a glass of salt water every morning just to get my blood pressure UP. Otherwise, I felt like, transparent all day is the best way I can describe it.

Yes this is true, but I am the opposite and take those meds plus more including blood pressure medication. But as you said genetics and lifestyle play a major factor. I'm willing to gamble a little though for a better quality of life with nicotine. Smoking would be crazy however.

Vaping for me IS better than not vaping. I should give that some context. If I were not vaping, I would be smoking again in short order and it would not be pretty.

*For me* vaping is INFINITELY preferable than not vaping but I was a smoker.

If you aren't, and/or you can quit vaping, that is probably better.

If my vaping ever becomes an issue, I will work with my doctor on reducing coffee (which I have actually kind of naturally done, to be honest) other things, and finally if I MUST, nic. But I very much doubt I will go nicotine free although stranger things have happened in my life.

I too will take the door with the lady behind it, not the tiger. Sigh. Let's just hope they don't BOTH turn out to be tigers. I don't believe they will, but until longitudinal studies are done I do not have the right to state that.
