Is a Vamo2 almost as good as a Vamo 5 for a beginner?

So the V5 won't actually do anything the V2 wont?

The biggest difference for me is the removable top cap on the V5 so you can more easily clean in there. It's not a deal breaker by any stretch and I still have my V2 and my wife uses it. It was my first APV and is still going strong. Functionally, there is no difference.

Only issue that I would consider is the finish on them. I have stainless steel as I have seen numerous reports that the other finishes do wear off.

SVD, SID, Vamo etc. etc, they will all offer a similar vaping experience and will all take similar tanks / toppers. I'd recommend having a good look through Variable Voltage APV Discussion for hints, tips and reviews about each one.

I'd also recommend a look at Phil Busardo's youtube channel. He has a full review of the SVD (linked below) He also reviewed the vamo and the SID (as well as a whole host of other APVS) His humor takes a little getting used to but his reviews are straight up - he will tell you the good and the bad and is not just a marketing shill.

I have seen dealers sell the vamos on ebay brand new for just a few bucks more than fasttech. I'm guessing they probably order bulk from fasttech then have stock on hand to sell. I bought my v2 from a local store and my v5 on ebay. I think I got it in 3 days versus 3 weeks from fasttech. Just my 2 cents. I personally like my v2 better! Functionality wise they are the same.

Just so you know: V2 LED, V5 OLED.. OLED actually TELLS you what menu you're on.

The V5 has a removable top cap. Although you might think that's minor, It's saved me quite a number of times. If you ever use a CE5 or mini protank where threads unscrew close to the connector, it will be blocked by the topcap... if you have a V2, you'll have to get pliers to unscrew it... not good. Also, I unscrew the topcap to create a flush mount to my atty.. it makes it more secure, less wobbly.

I''d never go with a V2. just my :2c:

Good choice with the Vamo V2. Don't be afraid to experiment with different voltages or wattages on tanks. Also, google for "Vaping Ohm Chart" for a vaping power chart so you know what voltage range is good for the resistance of the coil. Plus learning a little bit about Ohm's Law comes in handy as well. Plently of iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone apps for an Ohm Calculator. :D

Ok, let me put the disclaimer first YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY.
I returned a V2 with bad threads to FT in early Jan. FT sent a replacement that had a removable top cap. I thought upon initial inspection that they had mistakenly sent a V5 as a replacement. The display verified that it was indeed a V2. I've since heard of other V2s with removable top caps. So, your next V2 could possibly have a removable top cap (or not).
