Is graduating to advanced vaping ie. bigger tanks, variable voltage batteries, Mods etc...inevitable?

So I have been vaping about one week, and haven't touched an analog in 4 days. I started with gas station disposables, then ordered a 510 starter kit with cartos, I thought I needed a cigalike. While I was waiting for the kit to come in, I found a local brick and mortar, and purchased a knock off ego 650mAh battery and knock off Ce4 and a bottle of ejuice. (paid more than I would have for genuine joytech but oh well, they were helpful and it was available in my hands at the moment) Anyway, I got the 510 kit and I have to say I dont like it. The battery dies in two hours and I dont like the hassle of filling or dripping the carts. So I gave the kit to my cousin who also wants to get off analogs also. I really like the ego set up I have, it gives nice vapor, lasts 6 hours or so, and its super easy to fill, right size for my pocket etc.. this set up seems perfect for me. I dont want to or really have time to be searching for the next more advanced vape device, spend hours researching, ordering gear, testing tanks, rebuilding clearomizers, modifying batteries, or have another never ending evolving hobby to keep up with, (my Nissan z32 fills that spot) also when I break even, I want to be saving or at least keep even. I didn't smoke that much, 5-10 cigarettes a day, and I found a comfortable level of vaping for me is 1.5-2ml a day. 2ml was when I first got the ego because I guess it was new and exciting but more along the lines of 1.5ml a day. I vape in the morning with my coffee and in the evening after dinner, which is how I used to smoke analogs. Maybe I might get another battery as a backup and have two or three small tanks filled with different flavors if I want to change, I just want to keep a simple set up that I can be happy with. I dont vape all day and (no offence) don't want to be carrying a flashlight sized setup in my pocket all day. I like a compact set up that is basic and works. The local brick and mortar is way more expensive, but Its 10 mins away, and if I need to I can pick up juice or another battery etc.. Do you guys think that it becomes a more and more involved hobby "chasing the perfect vape" even if you don't start out that way. Or did you guys keep growing when it came to gear and more evolved vaping?

Back up battery is a must.

Otherwise, if you are happy with what you have, that is great and congratulations!

Many vapers stick with simple devices. On ECF you get many who love the tech, the gadetry, etc., and make it a big hobby.

My advice would be that if you don't want to go that route, and are happy with what you have, then try not to hang around here much because the desire for new equipment is kind of infectious!

There are a lot of people out there that have stayed very happy with their Ego's for a long time :) Not everyone that vapes feels the need to chase the next best thing. What ever works for YOU is what you should use. :) Only time will tell if you are going to feel the need to try out new stuff or not. Either way, you're not smoking anymore and that's all that really matters.

Do get that backup battery soon and a backup charger. Backups when vaping are very important. ;)

No it isn't inevitable. I spent a lot of time and money trying a bunch of different things at first, but I was okay with that because I still spent less than I did smoking.

Now I have 2 devices; a 510 mini which is the same as the Blu 100 and an Echo which is a fat automatic battery. Only cartomizers, no tanks or anything else special. It works, it mostly keeps me off the cigarettes, and I have enough juice and cartos that I haven't spent a dime on vaping gear in nearly 3 weeks.

So, to each their own.

I just got the vv Gripper I asked for on my birthday. If it were not my birthday I would still be happy with my Twist and Spinner. Those are pretty basic as some people start with them. So it depends on each person. If you are happy where you are at, stay there. Some chase the vape and some like the latest and greatest. I guess it really depends on the total of your interest and available funds, of course. I am on disability so I CAN'T turn it into a hobby even if I wanted to.

It's not inevitable at all. There are people who still use the cig-sized 510's, too. You might eventually want a "flashlight," or you may not. I do use a VV mod now, but the rest of my vape collection isn't anything special. I used eGo sized batteries for a long time and still use them now if I don't want to carry anything larger around. I'll even puff on a cig-sized 510, but that's generally only if I've had my fill of nic and just want something light to puff on. The weight difference is amazing.

I think it's something you will figure out for yourself in time. I was using plain eGo's for a while, like the first year of vaping. After going through a few eGos (They just died on me), I tried the eGo twist and loved the variable voltage feature. Then my twist broke, dropped in a car and the other passengers stepped on it accidentally and practically broke it in half, so I decided I wanted something a little stronger with replaceable batteries and got a lavatube. Loved the lavatube but my friend got a Vamo and I REALLY loved that so I had to get one myself. And now I'm all in on tanks, used to drip exclusively. So that's how my vaping evolved.

Then there is my roommate who has been vaping as long as me but is still using eGos, mostly for the same reason as you, the size. And he couldnt be happier. So long story short, it isnt inevitable. If you are happy stay with what you have.

Thanks guys, the store close to me has a genuine joytech ego twist for $35, I might pick that up as my daily battery and use the generic one I have as a back up. I might get the mini 350mah as a small pocket set up for going out at night, but I think that will be my gear set. three different batteries, and if one dies I can always pick up another the same day from the brick and mortar near me. They sell jucie also, so I think I should be set whenever I need to pick up a replacement here or there.

The eGo - Nova setup gets the job done nicely. However, the urge to upgrade, at least for me, comes from the desire to enjoy the most delicate juices, thus an RBA. Battery mods follow.

I've met 4 people using ego batteries. They try my vamo or v4l handle and immediately ditch their egos. Maybe ignorance is bliss? I know I can't go back to egos or stick batteries now. I've used them recently and they were not satisfying at all. They used to be, though.

It all depends upon what your expectations and perceived needs are whether you will be inclined to "advance" to bigger or better things.

There's always going to be some type of improvement come along. Whether it is the battery powerplant device or the juice delivery system, new models are coming out almost weekly. Some people supplement their no-smoking status by making vaping a hobby. Some are into gadgets or have become collectors.

If you aren't into that, then staying with what is simple and works for you is the best thing for you to do.

You definitely you don't have to chase anything or anyone. If you're happy where you're at, be thankful. Me, I was quite happy with my Twists (standard eGo wasn't quite cutting it), but for various reasons upgraded to a Provari. I have no want to buy more mods and I still use my eGo standards (for fishing) and Twists too. You can stay on ECF and not chase every new thing, but it takes a bit of will power :)

Nah, "the perfect vape" isn't some impossible dream you keep on chasing. You find what works, and then you stick with it. Some people do get in to the gadgetry of it, but those people were usually nerds/geeks before they got in to vaping to begin with anyways; vaping is just a shiny new toy to them. I got in to the bigger PVs from the beginning because the small ones didn't produce enough vapor for me to be able to put down the cigarettes... that was it, it wasn't because they were fancier or anything like that, I just couldn't stand sucking for 20 seconds only to get a little baby sized puff of vapor.
