Two things -first even though it is off the topic of the thread - $1 per mg tax or whatever will not make a difference in the long run - it will maybe chase some back to smoking, but that will the worst case scenario. Back to my point - Cigarettes went from a few pennies a pack to several dollars a pack - very few quit smoking. I remember always saying that if smokes went over $1 a pack I would quit smoking - later I adjusted it to $2 and was still buying them when it was over $3. People adjust to cost increases.

Second - and on topic to the thread - whether it is a fad or not depends upon how you look at it and it really is not the problem (it will probably always hold the interest of a certain portion of the vaping community - fad or not) - the problem comes in from the individual's that will try it once they hear about it, but not learn about it before they try it. There are two many that ask questions after they have problems than ensuring they know what they are doing before they have problems. Many will say that it is there fault for not asking, but it will impact the entire vaping community if the incidents grow - social media is fast in today's world and that is everyone's problem...

Someday I may venture into double digit vaping, but for the last 3 years I have been perfectly content with 7-9 watts. For me, vaping is how I keep from smoking. As long as it does that, I'm good.

Every now and then, I see a vaper in the wild. Almost all of them are using a variation of an ego/protank type set-up. I think that high wattage vaping is less of a fad, and more of a fringe.

From my experience, everything in vaping is a fad. We're always eager for the latest and the greatest. I've personally seen the industry go from cartos, to the seemingly endless clearos (top and bottom wick), to the RSST (that came and went FAST), to RDAs (I literally watched the industry go through the entire growing process with those), and now we've got sub-ohm tanks. (And don't forget the OG drippers... using 510 attys). By now this stuff has been refined enough that I actually enjoy clearomizers again. But I've also seen a HUGE drop in mech mod purchases, and everyone is all about high-wattage box mods. But those are just the hardcore vapers. At work, egos and clearos are our bread and butter. I personally prefer to cater to new users, and I don't like to "talk shop" all day every day at work. I can only see so many coils on peoples' drippers before I stop caring what kind of crazy build they have.

I think higher wattage mods are here to stay..That said just because I have a 100w+ mod doesn't mean I have to vape it that high.. The Starre subtank vapes great at 45w on the IPV4.. The Dark horse on the 150w IPV3 vapes great at 65w, and not putting a hard load on either chip the dual batts in both mods go for days on one charge...
I like vaping at higher wattages for clouds like these on my IPV3/Dark horse with a dual .3 ohm build at 65w..[emoji12]

There's just a lot of different ways to do the same thing.

Personally, high wattage vaping is like smoking a .... stale Chesterfield.
Lol..that's funny!
Because for me personally higher wattages makes the flavor come intensely alive, not to mention a thick satisfying vape...but to each his own! Lol

high wattage vaping on subohm coils is great, high wattage vaping on say something on the high resistance end ~2.0 is disgusting lol. 1.0-2.0ohm coils at high watts tastes like fried electronics and band-aid juice to me

Who cares what other people do??

I do.

For one, what other people do often times has a direct and/or indirect effect on my life.

For two, all of the people on this planet occupy the same space-time as myself....and considering we all share physical bodies, and occupy the same space-time, that means our experiences are relevant to each other.

For three, I believe it is important to aware of what is going on around you...and as we all know, humans are a major cause as to what is happening around you.

For four, curiosity. As humans, we are normally curious. Studying, analyzing, watching, and interacting with people around you is a pretty basic function of a human life. We constantly learn, and evaluate, and adjust our lives according to what happens outside of us, and this includes other people.

So while it is certainly cute and trendy to say "Who care what others think!?!?" , it is an utterly pointless/useless saying that has no real world importance.

I have to admit, I'm enjoying higher power than I used to. For some, it may be a natural progression. However, I don't see myself ever needing more than 60W, and even that would be infrequent. For me its about maximizing flavor, not clouds.
But it's really cool when it comes together maximising both flavor, and thick, milky white clouds.. Not to mention a very satisfying nicotine hit which is the reason I chose to vape in the first place two years ago now.. And it just keeps getting better and better, (for me anyway...Lol)
But I do agree with you to a point...since the introduction of the subtanks I will not backslide to old school tanks, like the protank 3, Nautilus, etc, like what I started off with...The FreeMax Starre with the .25 dual coil is my favorite for flavor for now, at about 45w...Also I like the Arctic with the BTDC coil at about 60w for clouds just short of what I get dripping on a RDA....And I do like to drip too, at about 65w on a .3 ohm build..
I like having the extra power in my high wattage mods in case I need it, but I really don't vape much over 75w, but that could change at a moments notice and I know I'll be ready.. [emoji41]

I think the perception of the vape world as a whole in today's age is more of a fad than anything else. People nowadays are so caught up in the 'more power/vapor = better'. I always laugh when people say their high wattage box mods are the best there is and will " walk all over whichever mod you put to it".

Everyone vapes for different reasons. A lot of people seem to think if you're vaping low wattage, you're doing it all wrong.

There still is people that use vaping as a smoking cessation. Not everyone wants the heavy hitting mods. Cigarettes never produced 'clouds' of vapor.

It's all perception.

But its always the low wattage people that make a big deal about it. I don't think any high wattage users give a poopy about the lows.

I'm not even sure where the lines are drawn. I guess I'd say 20w was low, 30-70 was the middle and 70+ was high?? I personally don't know a single high wattage vapor so I don't actually know what they think. 30w is where I vape and I'm content. Anything lower is a wet sloppy mess to me. Higher has better flavor but gets to hot for me. Which is why I think temperature control might just be the ticket.

I just got a new mod today. Its 50w. I'm leaving 20 watts on the table with my tank but the larger mod fits my hand better. The 30 would have done the trick and used the same battery but I have some big mitts and small mods don't feel right.

My new mod BTW is a clone of a high dollar original. I wasn't sure I would like it but I can already see the USA one will be following me home very soon. And its only 40w. BUt it uses twin 18650"s.

1) How is me vaping at 4,000 watts, if that is what I want to do, going to effect you in any way?

2) Only a single entity can occupy a single point in space at any given point in time

3) Good for you.

4) I'm curious as the next person for stuff that I find interesting or relevant...How many watts some is using is not one of them....Maybe asking how many watts for such and such atty on such and such device

Don't care to put down other folks because I may blow bigger clouds than they can...I'm not into doing something to keep up with the Jones's either...
Thanks to vaping I have been completely tobacco free for two years now...that's saying alot because I have COPD...
I'm not one to get caught up with blow hards who brag about
their equipment either.. I could truly care less...
But I do care about what works best for me...
For me, that's exactly why I'm a member of several popular vaping forums besides ECF.. I seem to learn a lot more on those others than I do here...
